  • One of my favorite simple meals is a whole can of Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup for 158 calories, followed by two cups of watermelon for about 100. Seriously stuffed and a lot of food for around 258 calories! Yay!
  • Yes, I tried in desperation multiple times over the years to do an Atkins-type thing and just not even think about calories, but I could never endure the extreme carbohydrate deprivation for more than a few weeks. I mean, I felt like I had one foot in the grave and the other on maybe a pork rind, because, of course,…
  • That is so amazing to hear, OP! I'm very happy for you and I am having the same experience. So very grateful to be released from the inner turmoil and struggle over food and weight control and I hope we are free of it for good. Here's to the MFP way!! :-)
  • There is a 12 step program for compulsive overeaters and people with other eating disorders called Overeaters Anonymous (OA). It is based on the AA addiction-disease model. They have a website with a listing of meetings - local, phone, and online. They also have extensive podcasts and literature available. Also, there are…
  • I dislike going to the gym and I've never been into sports at all, but I do like to dance around to music while I tidy up the house, ride my recumbent bike while I watch tv or play my uke, and walk my dogs. More importantly, I like to have strong legs and feel that I can move and walk with at least some grace and ease. And…
  • I had the same problem for many, many years and I fought tooth and nail to control it with little success. Thankfully, I am now getting some relief from my binge eating - I see a bariatric doctor who prescribes a medication specifically for this addictive disorder which works amazingly well for me. I supplement the medical…
  • You look beautiful! Many congratulations on your weight loss achievement and upcoming marriage!
  • Separate, schmeperate. Lots of people lose weight and improve their health eating pancakes and burgers too. They just eat less of them.
  • I weigh weekly now, but I used to weigh every day. It was a struggle for me to give that up, but for me it was part of a constellation of obsessive food and dieting behaviors that I needed to let go of. I don't need to know what I weigh every day. All I need to focus on is maintaining my food plan and calorie goals and the…
  • Desserts: Light ice cream in a cone (the cones have very few calories, it takes longer to eat, and is more filling). Angel food cake with whipped cream and fruit. Skinny cow ice cream bars and sandwiches. Apples baked with Splenda and cinnamon with a scoop of light vanilla ice cream. Frozen Weight Watchers desserts. Sugar…
  • There is nothing wrong with eating bananas. They are a highly nutritious and beneficial food. Please do not eliminate nutritious food that you enjoy from your diet. It is not necessary or helpful to do so.
  • A 12 step program such as Overeaters Anonymous may be something to consider. It's helped many, many people over the years. I wish you the best - the first thing is to face it head on and with complete honesty, and it sounds like you are doing that.
  • Wow! Everybody looks AMAZING! CONGRATS TO ALL! I just figured out how to do the "before and after" shot, so I thought I'd post mine. This is about 45-50 lbs down with more to go. Not sure how much more yet - will know when I get there. :-)
