It's not starvation mode. There is such a thing but it doesn't make you stop losing weight and you literally have to be starving for it to be a potential issue. When a person is obese, they will often have a massive drop of weight at first. I probably lost a good five pounds that first week just from steering away from…

I drink diet soda every day and have lost over 100lbs. Never hindered me one bit.

500 cals a day?
-
I jumped from 1200 daily to 1400 daily this week. I know I won't gain fat as long as I'm not going over maintenance calories, I'm just confused about the baseline for finding the optimal calorie goal I should be shooting for.

Everyone loses motivation now and then. The important thing is to build up routine for those days when the motivation is not there.

I'm around your height and having less calories does stink. I do alternate day fasting along with my calorie counting so that I have some days that allow for a much larger caloric intake because after awhile the whole 1100 or 1200 calories a day thing does start to wear on your nerves. It's been working nicely for me.

I decided to just go for it and do a full body shot. I wasn't even at my heaviest on the left. I was very picture shy at my heaviest weight and I don't have any full body ones from that time but, I figured this would still work.

I think that throwing away the things I loved would have resulted in a speedy failure for me. The way I see it, if my eating habit changes are not sustainable, then I am wasting my time in the long run. This needed to be something I could stick with, for life.

I started on 3/25/14 and I hit 101lbs on the fourteenth of this month. Good for you guys! Keep at it! When in doubt, log it on the higher end of the scale when it comes to entries you are using, not the lower ones as taking in more calories than you need, will only serve to trip you up. Best of luck to you both!

Dividing up those calories is something I wish I had learned at the very beginning. Best of luck to you on your own weight loss journey. I know a hundred sounds like a lot but once you get dedicated, the time will pass and before you know it, you will be where you want to be.

First thing I did was figure out my RDI and I started at 1700 calories a day, which has steadily decreased over time. I then started trying to find ways to maximize the calories I had to work with each day. I didn't want to give up all the things I enjoyed so, I started by finding alternatives. Coke turned into diet Coke.…

I was shocked how many calories are in pasta. I used to eat it all the time. I knew homemade mac and cheese was not the best calorie option out there but I had no idea that those plates of whole grain spaghetti with a little sauce were doing me in like they were.

It's not about motivation. It's about building eating habits for the times when motivation wanes. You are the only one who can make the decision to give it a real go to make a real change in your life and right now, you are holding yourself back. You need to figure out why.

I do alternate day fasting with a zig zag calorie allotment. I feel great and seem to be losing just as much weight. The structure is a lot less rigid compared to the 1200 calorie daily diet I was on. Now I can adjust my eating to fit my week much better. I don't think I'll go back to that 1200 every day diet, ever again.

I went to the place the article originated from. I see no studies being referenced. Am I missing something?

Cups, tablespoons, ect. are volume measurements. They are inaccurate because you can fit various amounts into the same size measuring cups depending on how tightly or loosely things are packed into them. Also, if you look at packages often the amount that they tell you makes up a serving in volume measurements ends up…
-
I checked your diary and it seems like you do a lot of measurements by volume. Volume is not very accurate. It's likely that you were eating a good deal over the amount of calories you thought you were as a result and that is why your weight hasn't budged. Invest in a scale. It will help get you on track.

I drink them every single day. They haven't negatively affected my health one bit from what I can tell. I feel better than I have in years!

Don't beat yourself up, it's counterproductive. We all have those days. Learn from it and move on.

I used to eat tons of popcorn with loads of butter too. At the movies, I'd get a large popcorn with extra butter layered and consume so much that my stomach would hurt. Now, I chill out with a movie at home with a big bowl of air popped popcorn, some butter spray, and molly mcbutter. It fits into my calorie count for the…

Calories in, calories out is the method that I've been using too.

My hubby drinks bulletproof coffee but he's on keto when he needs a long lasting burst of energy between meals, which he says it provides him. I tried it once, a long time ago, wasn't that impressed with it myself...

My hubby makes his own bread substitute using almond meal. I'll see if I can get the recipe for you when he gets home.

I drink two large cups a day and use international delights fat free, sugar free creamers at 15 calories a tablespoon.

We do it all separately too. Even my hubby and I have our own foods since he and I are on two totally different diets. The kids get stuff they love (minus 99% of the junk food my youngest would live off of if she could) but they don't get to eat our stuff without permission and they know it. They have gotten their computer…
