1 - 1.5 lb per week is definitely on the high side. I'm sure he's gained muscle if he's consistent with his training and progressing, but a lot of that weight is going to be fat. Most people can't gain more than .5 lb of muscle per week unless they're a beginner, a teenager, or taking steroids. I would drop his calorie…
