  • Haha. Yikes. Usually my go to for knowing whether something is psuedo-science or not is looking at the health benefits. if the list is longer than your arm, it's usually crap. Take a health benefit every celebrity/blog poster has ever said about it Nd put it in a list, thats a good idea... just because something contains a…
  • Yeah, I'm going to say it's very likely that they just didnt learn how to maintain and bounced back like most fad diets. Those shows are not a good example of how to lose weight healthily. Bare bones diet plans given to them by the trainers, extreme weight loss, and no education about how fo maintain. Plus they hang out in…
  • I'm sure i wont be the only one to say this, but i believe you are right. While they can be fun, and for some a good motivator, contests in losing weight really dont teach you about how to permanently keep the weight off and are the most likely to bounce back from. Losing 1% of your weight in a week is great! Some would…
  • . I made myself a Turkey club yesterday, was 700 calories, but if you remove the 2 slices of bacon, 1 ounce of marble cheese, and the light mayo, it would have been half that!
  • "Neither Anthony William nor Anthony William, Inc. is a medical doctor or other licensed healthcare practitioner or provider" Right in the disclaimer at the bottom of the blog.... pardon me if I call bull!
  • Not bad. Literally just finished making morning coffee! Will be better afterwards! How about you?
  • All digital scales have an accuracy rating, just because they go down to 0.01 lbs on the screen does not mean they are accurate to 0.01lb. The more accurate, the more expensive. Mine is usually good to within +/- 0.4 lbs. I dont worry about it in the slightest since my body weight fluctuates more than that every day.…
  • I really only weigh stuff if I'm curious or really dont have a clue on what it contains, but i imagine it's more important the less you are trying to lose. I have a lot to lose and an extra 10% of my daily calorie goal wont make much difference. An extra 200 calories for someone in a 1500 calorie deficit isnt as critical…
  • Starvation mode is a myth. Your body needs to burn energy to survive. Whether it gets it from food, fat or muscle. Its basically an engine. If you aren't burning fuel, the engine dies. The engine needs a base amount of fuel to keep running even when not doing any real work. You make the engine smaller(lose weight), it…
  • Go ahead and add me. I'm 40 lbs down since Jan 1st but still have 200 to go!
  • Doesn't work. You need to fry them quickly while still alive(kinda like boiling a lobster). Otherwise they just crawl around all over the oven. ;)
  • My uncle and I (both 400+ lbs)have started a challenge to see who can lose the most weight by June. I have no plan on stopping there however! Another mini goal is I have a couple jackets that belonged to my late father that I would like to fit into. Have to go from a 5x to a 2x. Am currently a 4x now.
  • No need to feel overwhelmed. You are doing great! You've lost 6.7% of your total body weight, which is much harder to do at 86kg than it is at 200kg! Keep it up!
  • I am down 42 lbs since January 1st! Still have a long way to go to halve my weight. Started at 454 and am at 412. But no shortage of momentum going forward. Feeling great and gonna keep it up!
  • Congratulations! Such a big change. I bet there is loads more room in your driver's seat. Right? Haha. This deserves a bump.
  • Maybe it changes the calorie deficit requirement of losing a 1/2 lb a week based on how active you generally are? Based on which setting you picked, sedentary, lightly active, etc?
  • Thanks Mischelm! I know what it's like to gain back what you lost too. Few years ago, I lost 60 pounds in 3-4 months, was working out 3 times a week. Things were great! Then my dad passed and I lost all control and just didn't care what I did. I don't want to use it as an excuse, but it did happen at the same time and I'm…
  • 1500 calories isn't half a pound. If you think losing half a pound in a week is a total loss, then I suggest holding a half a Pound of butter and tell me if it feels like nothing! Just put it behind you and keep on keeping on!
  • How's it going bud? Sounds like you had a great weekend! Always feels good when others notice the difference you've made in yourself!
  • Sounds great climbingup. You've definitely got the right attitude. just because you aren't perfect doesn't mean that every little change you make to the life that made you the way you are today isn't a step in the right direction! Even if you change one little thing a week, eventually all those little things add up to…
  • I don't drink a heck of a lot of soda anymore. I used to drink litres of it a day. Maybe a can or 2 a week now. And I'm at about half coffee and half water now. Don't really miss it.
  • Food poisoning works surprisingly well too!
  • Depends on you. I eat up to 2000 a day and I lose, but that's because I'm big enough that my deficit is still 1500. What does mfp tell you?
  • I just finished watching the last episode. doesn't the amount lost for some of them seem crazy? The one guy losing 50 lbs in 6 weeks? 8 lbs average per week and 16 lbs in the first week?
  • Hey everyone. Thought I would start posting here. After the morning weigh in, I'm officially down 16.4 lbs in 60 days. Not quite as fast as I would like, but without any exercise I'm still happy with the results. Still have 200+ to go, but things are going great! I'm going to start taking progress pictures of myself at…
  • I'm also wondering what benefits you can get from it. I know friends that spend 50+ dollars a year on lose it premium and I just can't justify spending money on stuff that I do myself.
  • I get where you are coming from, I don't like telling people until I have gained some ground at least. I don't like being that person who "oh, he's trying to lose weight again, let's see if he actually goes through with it this time. ". It's the same idea of a smoker who tries to quit every other week but never follows…
  • Vegetable steamer sounds like a good idea. Cooked veggies I have no problem with, most raw ones I really don't care for, they usually need so much ranch dressing, it counteracts any good the veggie is doing IMO. Haha. Broccoli is a good example. A big head steamed with a tablespoon of cheese wiz on top melted I can eat all…
  • You're doing great bud! Keep it up and you'll see the pounds slowly coming off. You can do it!
  • I am really in support of anyone that quits smoking. I lived in a household where 3/5 people smoked a pack every 2 days at least. The amount of hacking and coughing going on in the household daily is rather nasty. And the amount I end up coughing from secondhand is very concerning to me. Nothing worse than having coffee at…
