  • What do you consider a big satisfying meal? I know some people will say that, but in reality, it was just a large plate of noodles or something. It's a very subjective qualification. Being hungry again in 2 hours is also common from meals that aren't very filling. I make sure half of my meals are veggies or fruit with lots…
  • 111 lbs down in 8.5 months, this before picture was almost a year ago. Got all the momentum in the world!
  • It doesn't have to slow down, but it's generally understood that it probably should. If you have 50 lbs to lose and you set your MFP to lose 2 lbs per week, you can cut back enough calories to lose those 2 pounds while still fueling your body with enough food to sustain itself. When you get closer to your healthy weight,…
  • I hit my second mini goal today, so now its tike to move onto the third one! Starting at the beginning of the year: 1 - lose 35 lbs by Feb 22(golf trip to orlando) 2- lose 60 lbs by may 1st. (Prior to starting seeding (grain farmer)) 3- lose 85 by July 1st. (To get below 400 lbs for the first time in 6 years!) Wish me luck!
  • My big nsv was that I measured my resting pulse today in the mid 60s! I don't think it has been there for years! Over 400 lb guy. I'll be crossing over the one month milestone of doing workouts tomorrow, so I'm thrilled about that! Things are going great!
  • I completed my third week of the stronglifts 5x5 regimen! I haven't worked out in years, so sticking to this for 3 weeks is a big step for me! Ive noticed that i feel "looser". My joints and limbs don't feel as stiff as they once did. I'm 1 pound away from hitting my "50 pounds lost this year" milestone!
  • My current goal is to have lost 60lbs by may 1st. Currently at 47 and am losing 2-3 lbs a week comfortably. I may not hit it without a little more of a deficit, but if I'm close, I'm happy with that too(I still have 200 to go). My medium goal is to walk 9 holes of golf 5 times this summer. My long term goal is to be able…
  • I stopped in at the big and tall store to get a new pair of jeans since my old ones were baggy as heck. I expected to get one 4 or even 6 inches smaller, but walked out with a pair 8 inches smaller! Felt pretty happy about that!! Down 45 lbs this year and no sign of stopping!
  • I spent the last couple days bowling with my friends, and I wasn't sweating like I was when I started bowling with them 2.5 months ago, pre-50lbs lost. I also have a lot more room in between the tables and mounted chairs in the bowling alley. Super thrilled! Looking forward to the future nsv's as I lose the next 50 lbs!
  • Pretty sure a 30lb increase overnight means someone snuck into your room at night and injected 30lbs of something into you. I'm convinced that I would notice something like that. Haha
  • I appreciate the concern of some, but I feel great. I just got back from a golf trip to Florida to get away from the cold in Northern Canada and with all the walking I did combined with losing what I think is 50 lbs, I feel better than I have for years and the idea of gaining 30 lbs of fluid overnight seems pretty out…
  • Changed batteries. No difference. Scale moves around on tiled floor all the time. Tried it in different spots, no difference. No rug. Scale is a 550 lb limit. It said i started at 480. Then down to 430, then 460 overnight. 460 was triple verified. Weight loss did seem similar to how I had lost in the past. Counted calories…
  • Congratulations on the loss! However, dont expect that trend to continue. You have lost a lot of water weight from a massive change in diet, most of which would come right back if you go back to your old ways. It is not possible for you to lose 12 lbs of fat in one week. That would need you to be in a deficit of roughly…
  • 17 if you count the fluctuation of the last couple days of drinking lots of water and yesterday being a really high cheat day. 21 was my lowest 3 days ago.
  • That's great! Congrats on your progress! Having that switch flipped in your head that you need to change yourself is the key to success IMO. For me, it switched on Feb 14 this year(the day I convinced most of my family to do this with me). I'm down 53 lbs since then and have tremendous momentum. I still have 154 to go till…
  • Well, the way I see it, there needs to be something that you get out of dealing with them. Even it's as simple as enjoying their company when they are around. If there is no positive to knowing someone and all they do is drag you down, then what is the point of dealing with them?
  • I... uh.. ran today! Didnt even think about it. Where I had to go grab something was a little farther than I would like away and I just started running.. half way there I realized what I was doing and though holy crap. I've lost 50 lbs in the last 3 months(still 150 till goal) and have noticed other more predictable…
  • I understand that. I did mention that it was likely all water. However it did take her 3 weeks to get back down to pre-surgery weight. So enough fat and water loss to bring her back down. It only hindered her progress in the number on the scale.
  • A couple years ago, we kicked my older brother out of the house. Told him he wasnt welcome here. He had been stealing from us for months. Taking my mum's debit card and withdrawing the max in the middle of the night. Then stealing farm gas. Totalled over $15,000. Tried to deny it, but caught him in the middle of the night…
  • My mum had a hysterectomy during weight loss. It substantially hindered her progress but no harm came out of it. She came out of the hospital weighing 10 lbs more than when she went in. And that was just overnight. (All water I'm sure). And it took her 3-4 weeks to lose it again. She did not stop her tracking and eating in…
  • Your right. Thank you for clearing that up!
  • People only used to do things "naturally", which is why they mostly lived only to the age of 35. There is no reason to be afraid of artificial things, unless they are proven harmful, and the said can be said about natural things. There are many naturally occurring substances that are very harmful. It's why there are…
  • So what makes you think that? What part of fast food makes it so you cannot incorporate it into a healthy part of your diet? If you made sure it did not go over your calorie limit, and as long as you got all the nutrients you needed, there is no harm to it.
  • Eat less, move more. Walking definitely falls under the category of moving more, unless you replace running with walking. It takes effort moving your body, even slowly. Any extra movement a person does above what they normally do is helpful and beneficial. However, anybody telling you that walking will make the weight just…
  • While true, the smaller bowl will hold less ice cream than the bigger bowl, thus lowering portion size as well. If a person was eating a large bowl of fruit, just because they switch to a smaller bowl, doesnt mean they will automatically put ice cream in it instead. Using a smaller dish overall is a very good tactic. They…
  • Anybody trying to sell you a diet that is said to help the process of autophagy is a quack trying to make a buck. I'm going to take a guess and say you dont really know what autophagy is. This is the process your cells go through to devour un-needed parts of themselves in order to recycle the nutrients needed to repair…
  • I dont really count absolutely everything I eat in a day, just the things that are calorically or nutritionally significant. If my dish has a few small pieces of a veggie that doesnt amount to much, I dont bother with it. Next to 0 calorie foods like diet soda and splenda I dont track unless I'm curious about how much I…

  • Weve been using stevia for months now almost exclusively to sugar. In desserts, and many other dishes. I've also been a diet Pepsi drinker for decades, but I do know by sweet tooth has changed. I know people often have an issue with the taste of sweeteners, and some are better than others, but you know, if I have something…
  • Yah, I understand. This is called repeatability. It is also an important factor of what makes something a good measuring device. If something is not repeatable, it cannot be relied upon for good measurement(which is the problem you are having). Expensive devices get replaced all the time because their repeatability falls…
  • Unfortunately. That reasoning is why most people have this issue. When it comes to measuring devices, whether it is weight, pressure, temperature, etc, cheap stuff you can buy at Walmart just doesnt compare to higher-end, industrial devices from companies like rosemount, Honeywell's, etc. Granted they cost a lot of money,…
