  • I think like any other addictive substance, you have to expect some sort of withdrawal from processed foods. Your body needs to adjust to the different levels of sugar, carbs, nutrients as you begin to eat more naturally. There are plenty of good substitutes for junk foods- things like kale chips, or flaxseed crackers. You…
  • Thanks for the insight! Will definitely start out small and work my way up.
  • I'm pretty new to lifting as well! Please add me! It'd be nice to have some company and motivation:)
  • Sometimes people don't listen because they don't want to face their problems. Eating poorly can be a coping mechanism as well as a bad habit. I would say, for the moment, don't say anything, but instead, lead by example. Its definitely more difficult to do when all this crappy, but yummy, food is lingering around the house…
  • I like to mix up chia seeds, oat bran, and dry 5 grain oatmeal with flaxseed before heading to bed. In the morning I add a cup of nonfat greek yogurt and a tablespoon of local maple syrup and mix it all together. For those who don't like cooked oats, I would recommend trying oatmeal in this style. The texture is much…
  • I think that plain greek yogurt is a staple for some peoples' diets as it contains something like 23 grams of protein per cup and you can get it 0% fat. If you look on the container, it will also tell you whether or not there are bacteria in the yogurt, which is good for your tummy (think probiotics). Some brands do and…

  • 30 October- yesterday got away from me! Been busy trying to catch up on things I've been putting off :p Rower45- That's awesome that you're staying steady on your calories! Its not an easy thing to do! :) Today was an okay day...had a little too much chocolate but still am within calories. Got plenty of protein and some…
  • 28 October- So after work went for a nice 3 mile run before the weather got sour, then went to the gym for a 45 minute round on the elliptical. I also managed to get in a 10 minute ab workout, something I've been meaning to do daily but haven't... No breakfast this morning as I had a hard time waking up for work, but ate…
  • Not too bad! Didn't get much exercise aside from work the past three days, but am getting right back into it this afternoon! And aside from eating a cinnamon roll that I accidentally caught with my shirt at work (frosting and everything!), I have been fairly consistent with calories and eating well. Overall feeling pretty…
  • Gunpowder green tea is a form of Chinese green tea, out of the Zhejiang province. Its a nice, sturdy green tea (not delicate, like jasmine green) and I love the flavor. Green tea, well, hot tea in general, is good for you and there are even studies to back that up! Its also a nice cool-weather drink :)
  • 26 October- blew through roughly 900 calories working this morning and afternoon and have essays to write tonight, so no more exercise today:( but i stayed well within my calorie range and am sipping on gunpowder green tea the rest of the evening!:)
  • 25 October- had breakfast super early before work, then lunch/dinner after. Work was exercise today for me as I came home and napped when I got done :) stayed right at my calorie limit today but not terribly healthy. Lots of water though!
  • 24 October- ate slightly over my calories with a big breakfast this morning. Went for a 3.2 mile run this afternoon, then a walk later in the day before sundown. Getting in fiber well and leafy greens:)
  • 23 October- Did well today, until dinner! My boyfriend and I made a rare trip out to a restaurant for a couple of beers and sammys, so I went about a meal's worth (650) over my calories today...BUT I did make it to the gym for a nice 500 calorie burn on the elliptical and a couple hours of walking outside for a total of…
