When I have that issue, I usually go for low calorie, high volume foods that I can pick at for a long time. Air popped popcorn, berries, grape tomatoes, celery with PB2, homemade oven baked tortilla chips and salsa.

The fun answer? Because I'd be too dangerous if I was skinny. :D The real answer is way less fun and a lot less concise. :/

It's been helping me to have more friends (but be cautious because some people are just looking for hookups, not fitness support). Why does it help? Well, because it gives me more people to high five for good work, and more opportunity to see how others handle their eating habits (often giving me really good ideas), and I…

True, but some "physical activity" can be modified to become actual cardio exercise. My husband and I have this debate often. He says he gets exercise in because his job is not sedentary. I tell him, no, he doesn't. He gets activity in, but not real exercise.

I buy the bone-in skin-on breasts, season them generously under the skin, and put them in the crock pot for the day. When they are tender and cooled, I remove the skin, de-bone them, and then shred, chop, or dice however I want and toss the meat in a container for the week. When the weather is nice, I do the same thing,…

Favorite family-appropriate cardio would be tabata sets of varying cardio moves (1 set elliptical, 1 set jogging in place, 1 set shadow boxing, 1 set kettlebell swings, etc). I try to make my steady state cardio either something productive like raking or mentally enjoyable like going for walks outside. I just CAN NOT DEAL…

Family (and some coworkers) are the worst. Some of them you just cannot get through to. I've had to just learn the ones I have to bark "no thanks, doctor's orders" (whether they are or not), and stick to it, every single time. I even have trouble with some wait staff at restaurants because I'll order food, eat about 1/4 of…

This was my question too. Has she always been like this, or is it a recent development?

It's really annoying to have an askhole in your life (one who keeps asking for advice but never takes it). I have to believe that part of the problem is their complete intimidation at how to measure a meal at all. I'm tempted to buy them one of those adult portion plates and a cheap scale, and say "here, I know how badly…

Agree with most other folks about not getting too worried about iron and potassium unless you get your blood levels checked and are low. The RDA levels are really general. They also don't take into account things like use of cast iron, for example. Iron is high in foods like fortified grains/cereals, chicken livers, beef,…

If you're really gonna splurge, a jalapeno popper pizza is super good. We usually do one based on this recipe, but a lot of times we'll add some grilled chicken to it, too. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/236208/jans-jalapeno-popper-pizza/

Ditto to what everyone else has said. My core is weak, so my trainer includes 1 day a week of core work, plus she ends every work out session with a move that is related to that day's regimen but also works core. For example, on arm day, I do dumbbell side bends as my last move. On chest/back day I do weighted crunches.…

Natural sugar usually comes with wonderful vitamins and fiber, whereas refined sugar usually does not. Both are sugar. As for the Myfitnesspal limits, do what you feel is best. Myfitnesspal just makes suggestions, and you can change what the limits are, depending on your own personal needs.

The candy bar is tasty. It's not nearly as chocolatey as the chocolate, but it has that bit of peanut in it. It's a nice blend, I think. Personally, I'd rather get the chocolate and the peanut butter and mix 'em.

I love HT! And yes, the flavors are hit or miss. Cookies and cream is the worst one, imo. I love peanut butter, chocolate, oatmeal cookie, seasalt caramel, lemon cake, mint, mochi, rainbow. A scoop of vanilla in diet root beer or with coffee poured over is excellent. And be really careful not to get the ones that say dairy…

It depends. If it is truly a health issue that your spouse is ignoring, then working on it together may be in order, like you would do with any other health issue. It truly depends on your spouse. For example, if your spouse smokes and has told you point blank not to bother him with it because it just pushes him further…

The real protein bars - the ones with 20 grams or more - all have the same taste/texture to me. That is a good thing. It means it takes me a while to eat one of them, and I won't want to just scarf another down because it's so darn tasty and quick to eat.

Howdy. My diary is open to the public and glaringly honest, LOL. Anyone is welcome to add me, or just be nosy. I'm cool with it. I don't do specific diets (I've already done them all, hahaha), and I exercise a lot. Congrats on your journey!

Yes, yes, and yes. Every now and then I get so tired of tracking everything and having to be so conscious of food. When I get to that point, I will take two days off and just play pretend, meaning I just do whatever, with no cares. BUT, I have to be extremely careful that it's only two days, and not a week, or a month, or…

Basically all of my core work is without equipment, most already mentioned: Dead bugs Crunches Flutter kicks Planks of all kinds (see above recommendations) Leg drops Bicycle crunches

Soooo agree with this. Many people understand they need to eat less and move more, but they need to figure out how to actually DO it. Telling them "just do it" does not compute. They need help to get to the root of their relationship with food and with their body.

Yes and no. "Yes" in that it does get really old having to constantly answer the same questions for any topic, mainly because I don't like to repeat myself (but that's my issue, not the person who has asked me one time). I don't mind at all when someone asks me once, but if that same person keeps asking me over and over…

Hey @krissmb, I have PVCs usually daily (PPCM w/congestive heart failure, recovered but my electrical system kept a hiccup). The only time it affects my workouts is when I get close to max heart rate (over 150). Every now and then it starts to get a bit erratic at that point if I stay at it for more than several seconds.…

Man, this is tough. I'd be a glamorous power lifter by night and bed & breakfast owner by day, with my own garden and a fancy Viking oven. And my hobby would be quantum physicist. And have lots of money so I never have to think about it.

It can be anything that I eat when I'm not really hungry but just WANT SOMETHING DECADENT (drooling noises). A bunch of peanut butter and medjool dates. White bread slathered in butter. Popcorn slathered in butter. White pizza. Way too many granola bars. But most of all...CAKE. Good cake, not the crappy dry junk. Good,…

Yes! I've seen the new WW program with so many things as zero or very low points, and I just think "ummm...they still have calories..." That goes along with some of my keto friends who tell everyone else that you don't count calories on keto, just carbs. But see...both of those plans are making the assumption that people…

Welcome! Feel free to add me as well if you like. I totally understand how it feels seeing your own habits affecting the ones you love. Definitely a wake up call!

Salty and sassy. Come at me bro! :D :D :D
