  • Drizzle them with balsamic vinegar. Sounds bizarre, but is delicious. Or try cooking them until soft then serving with either a scoop of ice cream or ricotta blended with Greek yoghurt and a little vanilla.
  • Things might be different where you are, but in Australia the Easter chocolate is always the poor quality stuff, unless you buy it from one of the really good shops where it's just too expensive to contemplate. So for me it's all about the hot cross buns. Could eat those all year if only someone would make them.
  • It's very poorly written; saying something is harmful because it indicates another condition exists makes no sense at all. Additionally, whether or not inflammation causes heart disease or vice versa is inconclusive at the moment. The whole article seemed to imply that excess sugar automatically equals an in excess…
  • You have a set of symptoms that match a variety of diagnoses. And it could be that none of them are related to your vitamin D, B12 or testosterone levels. The fatigue, pain, and lack of strength match up with some sort of virus, fibromyalgia, or SLE, just for starters. The problem with an assumption of adrenal fatigue -…
  • The Fitbit app is using the information you enter in MFP and giving you a graphic to demonstrate how you're tracking. You can ignore it completely if you like. It doesn't work particularly well if you pre log your day as it will end up in the red until bed time, but if you log and sync as you go through the day, then it's…
  • Hi from the currently hot and sticky southern hemisphere :)
  • Good choice! The data is much more interesting, plus the Flex falls off so easily that I lost two before getting my Charge HR.
  • What I like about it is convenience. What I don't like is the taste or texture. I've tried multiple brands, flavours and types - whey, soy, pea, hemp - and have never found an enjoyable one. In my experience the pea and hemp ones are gritty, and all of them are ridiculously sweet. If anyone can recommend one that's…
  • Mashed with feta on sourdough. Topped with poached egg is extra good.
  • I'm constantly astounded by the people who recommend a keto diet as a cancer treatment. First of all, cancer isn't a single disease that responds to a single treatment. And equally importantly, so many cancers are accompanied by weight loss, and the side effects for chemo and radiation for many include loss of appetite,…
  • Melbourne. Add me if you like
  • Do you get the same variance if you set your MFP activity level higher?
  • Stevia is really sweet, too sweet for me. Artificial sweeteners, on the other hand, have a bitter aftertaste that is immediately identifiable and disgusting. I don't mind xylitol or erythritol in baking if I'm determined to get sugar down, but you have to note they don't caramelise like standard sugar. Have you tried…
  • I'm lucky in that I don't get any sort of hormonal cravings, but wonder if maybe something like dark chocolate coated nuts might be helpful in satisfying the need for chocolate while filling you up better than a block of milk chocolate? Adding cocoa to strained yoghurt (Greek yoghurt or labneh) might be worth a shot too.
  • Love mine. It tracks more things than the flex, including workouts, which is fantastic. Still can't go swimming in it, but the other positives make up for it. And the band is a huge improvement
  • If you're struggling to get to 1200 calories a day (and aren't bedridden or very small statured), then it might be worth looking at the types of foods you've been eating. All of the things you say you struggle with have a fair bit of fibre, which will fill you up and keep you full for longer than low fibre foods with…
  • Congratulations on your new arrival. As you're still in the immediate post-natal phase, you should get your abdominal separation checked by a doctor/physio/maternal health nurse before trying ab exercises. If you've got a separation, crunches and leg raises won't help it heal; you're better off focusing on exercises that…
  • If you like cereal with fruit, then I'd go with 30g oats cooked with 125ml milk then topped with berries. Adding a bit of cream or unsweetened yoghurt makes it particularly creamy and satisfying. I have this minus the berries and am full right up until midday.
  • Have to agree with the recommendation to try ceviche. It's divine.
  • I'd look outside eating it as a fillet. Thai fish cakes are really straight forward to make. Moqueqa de peixe is a delicious fish stew, as are the many fish curries from Kerala. If you do want to stick to fillets, swordfish steaks taste quite meaty rather than fishy, especially if you barbecue it. Albacore can be similar.…
  • I'd eat the cheese and tomato sandwich as long as it was toasted and not fried. The rest? Maybe if I was drunk. Really, really, ridiculously drunk.
  • If you want a cheese-like flavour in sauces, then add English mustard or nutritional yeast. If you want something spreadable and kind of tangy, then you could look into nut "cheese", which goes well on crackers. Both are tasty, but not cheese. Neither will melt or brown the way a good cheese does. Soy "cream cheese" is ok.…
  • First to get the good wine and good weather, @Christinev297. Woolies has them online in a couple of flavours, and USA Foods tends to stock a few different brands. Shipping for USA Foods can be a bit high. My kid loves the brown sugar ones, but they're all miles too sweet for me.
  • Fried icecream with golden syrup. Because it was on the menu and it's pay day.
  • You would not believe how creamy pumpkin soup is if you add cannelloni beans before you puree it. I threw them in once to try to get some extra fibre. Turns out it's creamier than if you add cream.
  • Half an avo smashed with feta and topped with a poached egg keeps me full for hours on a Sunday. If I'm particularly starving, I'll have it with toasted sourdough. Works pretty well with smoked salmon, too. For really special occasions, I like a cinnamon waffle with grilled peach and a dollop of mascarpone. On workdays, I…
  • @christinev297 do you have a GNC nearby? I've got them for around $3 each in Melbourne. Personally, I find the flavours a bit hit and miss. The chocolate brownie one is ok, but the lemon pie is absolutely repulsive. They're all way too sweet for my taste, plus have a weird texture. I prefer home made by a long shot.
  • I didn't even know squid was unusual. It's delicious! I wish crocodile was more readily available where I live.
  • Fish and shell fish, maybe some megafauna. Lilly pilly in season.
