@huango I would love to learn more about your calorie cycling. Is it like reverse-dieting? So I decided to run a half marathon at the end of Oct! I will start my training in April. Until then, my plan is to finish up with wks 5-8 of Strong Curves and then reevaluate how to fit in lifting with more running. Have a great…

Hello lovely peeps! Hope everyone on the east coast is staying safe and warm! For everyone who isn't freezing their bottoms off... We are jealous. :p Win for the wk: made home cooked meals for the hubby and I every night for a whole wk! This is a huge step forward in my fitness journey, since when we first moved to NYC, we…

I am obsessed with cold pressed juices! (Which is unfortunate when it is freezing outside and I still have to have my juice!) I'm just too lazy to make my own smoothies and they are often too sweet for me. I prefer the most "earthy" taste of green juices. Juice Generation is one of my favorite vendors. I also like Suja or…

I know it's a poor substitute, but have you tried either sweet flavored yogurt or protein?? I am obsessed with NOW Sports Pea Protein in dutch Chocolate flavor! It's my post-workout snack and tastes like a chocolate milkshake. Also, I've recently gotten into Greek yogurt flavors like red velvet cake and salted caramel! I…

I am in the exact same boat!! I have not seen a significant change on the scale in a month now, but I just measured and since the beginning of Feb, I've lost a half inch from my waist (I consistently measure this at my navel) and GAINED a half inch on my hips -aka Booty Gains! This makes me believe in the process, even…

Wknd update: I finally moved below 140 for the first time in a MONTH! I mean, it was .02 lbs, but still- it's a loss for the first time in a while! I think dropping my cals to 1300 is working. Weighing in again this Monday! Everyone with a fitbit should totally friend me! I use mine daily and love it! Find me with my…

I thought this an interesting article! Enjoy! What 2000 calories looks like http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/12/22/upshot/what-2000-calories-looks-like.html?abt=0002&abg=1 Amazing when you get to the home cooked meals and how much healthier they can be!

@ryblueeyes @getfitenjoyit @daneiel @krishacahigan Hey ladies! I'm at a similar weight with similar goals as you all! I'm 140 with a goal weight of 130! Welcome! Please feel free to add me too!

Awesome!! Good work! You can't spot reduce fat, unfortunately. But you can train specific muscles and as you continue to lose weight, those muscles will appear more toned! I would suggest squats! They are a great full body move, with a focus on glutes and thighs!

Thanks for the encouragement! I used Scooby's to calculate my BMR/TDEE. I'm 5' 5.5". I actually do take measurements and I'll take updated measurements tomorrow for comparison- I just needed to vent right now :p I'm also planning to take my body fat measurement in a couple wks to see if these is any change there. I…

Ugh! I did a weigh in today and I am the exact same weight as jan 30th- 140 lbs! Frustrating! I'm thinking of lowering my calorie limit by a couple hundred and see if that affects anything... I am currently at 1600. I also exercise 3-4 times a wk and walk an avg of 11K steps per day. Boo.

Ok- I'm tooting my own tushy today... (That kinda sounded better in my head before I typed it) - Anyway! For those of you who don't already know- I'm on my last wk of the first part (the first four wks) of Strong Curves. Before this program, my bottom was F-L-A-T. It was so sad. Now, just four wks in!! I love lifting. If…

Confession: I totally went over my calories for the day by, like... ALOT. I normally am set for 1650 cals per day. But "Time of the month" for me equals completely giving into my cravings! Ugh! Going to try to make up for it tomorrow by going to the gym and refueling on some leafy greens...

@sellerskennington sorry to hear about your knee! have you tried Pilates or power yoga? Those might be good ways to strengthen and also get in some good cardio without being high impact on your knee. There are some good free websites where you can stream videos of 20-30 min cardio yoga workouts. Check out Doyogawithme.com

New Rules is awesome too! I started out a complete newbie to weight lifting and finally decided to try New Rules last summer. I completed the first phase and loved it! It gave me the confidence and know-how to go to the free weights area of the gym right alongside all the guys. The only thing about New Rules is that it…

@stephmw9 @huango @jgrabowski33 YUM! I love hearing all the ideas for meals! You definitely don't have to starve yourself to eat healthy. @jgrabowski33 I definitely used to have a little butt too! It was flat and sad! Ever since I started lifting, it's grown rounder and I'm really starting to love it. Even my mom…

This is amazing!! Good job!! I would try eating smaller, but more frequent portions throughout the day of fruits, veggies or other fiber rich foods to help you feel full. If I try and eat a 100 calorie "snack pack" of cookies, I feel like I didn't eat anything at all! But if I just have an apple and water- I feel full and…

@huango that dress is beautiful!! I actually didn't get a full length pic of me in the dress, but I'll post a pic when it comes back from the dry cleaners! @janarn329 please feel free to friend me on MFP! You can do this!

Awesome! What do you think helped you achieve such great success!?

Aww- my post got cut off! I wanted to say congrats to all those who have lost! So many lbs are GONE!!!

Finally back home from a week away for a work conference- lots of drinks, food, and no exercise except for a run on Tuesday. - Win for the wk: finishing my 5k company run on Tuesday! - Another NSV: I bought a new dress to wear to our work fancy gala and it was a size 4- it fit perfectly :) - - Something to work on:…

Hi @sellerskennington - I'm in Manhattan too! Live in Hell's Kitchen and work on 5th in midtown! Just moved about a yr ago from LA. Having to walk everywhere in the city has definitely helped me maintain a more healthy lifestyle! Keep up the awesome work!

At a work conference for the week and I am definitely indulging in drinks during networking events and eating the hotel food, while doing the best I can to estimate calories on MFP. That being said, my challenges this week are not being able to log my food properly and eating over my goals... My win: during the conference…

Hope everyone had a good Sunday! Sigh- my Super Bowl dreams didn't exactly work out, but I still love my Hawks ;) Anyway- I thought this would be helpful to some: body fat % calculator http://www.bmi-calculator.net/body-fat-calculator/ I just did mine and my body fat is approximately 27%. Along with my weight loss goals, I…

I have thought about it, though I don't have room in my kitchen for a dehydrator. Maybe if I could find a recipe using the oven?

I don't think you gained half a pound in one day... It was most likely water weight and literally the weight of the food you ate that was in your stomach. Just don't get too down on yourself for having a bad day! We all have them! Accept that and re motivate yourself to get back on the program! Today- eat healthy, go for a…

YES! We are still awesome! Friday weigh in: 140 lbs. Which is actually 3 lbs less than the beginning of this week. I am three weeks into the Strong Curves weight training program, after I took a longer-than-planned holiday break! I find that my muscles retain a lot of water to help repair them after beginning a new…

Happy Thursday! Week is almost over! My wins for the wk: cooking an amazing meal last night for my husband and I! We are both super busy and often order takeout for dinner. While I try to make good decisions about my good choices when eating from a restaurant, you just never know about the content (sodium, etc.) I resolved…
