We also have a running trail through the National Forest. No way in the world I'd go it alone. There is virtually no crime here, but still, it only takes one opportunist. Being alert (no headphones) and well versed in self-defense and determination will help. Best wishes in reaching your goals.

Congratulations on your 11 lb loss in 3 weeks! I'm mid-50s and the weight has been creeping up the last few months. I was feeling so bad even though my blood work was good, but the doctor kind of scared me when he pointed out that our muscles will deteriorate as we age if we don't keep using them. with fibromyalgia, I live…

I agree with that. That is why support groups like Weight Watchers will work for people. But who can afford that! I love entering my meals in MFP the night before. I plan ahead for my one evening treat, dark chocolate covered ginger. I recently let my weight creep up after having lost a fair amount, but I am back on track…

What helps me is to plan tomorrow's meals and put them in the next day's plan the night before. I also allow for my one piece of dark chocolate covered ginger before bed. It is on my food plan as well. I just work around those things and stay within my goals. If I have the plan written out, it helps when I get hungry or…

Wow, you are doing great! My son lost 51 lbs. on here a while back, and even though he put some back on at school, he is back on track and losing again. I am mid-50s and mostly feel sluggish all of the time. I've been on and off here for a while, but after a little encouragement from the doctor, I'm here to tough it out.…

Hit rock bottom when I woke up feeling like garbage, then stepped on the scale. Sigh. Decided to get back on track and logged in only to find my son has been back on here for 8 days! It will help to have some encouragement. This does not get easier as we age. Glad to see others succeeding. Hoping I do also.

I do not eat packed foods, bread, pasta, sugar (other than naturally occuring in fruit), or dairy. My breakfasts usually consist of either steel cut oats or rolled oats, organic only, and uncooked. I put them in a Thermos at night with a little bit of either cashew milk or almond milk, and use any combination of raw nuts,…

Maybe I'm old school, but I don't find "husky" offensive. I am not going to date someone because he is lean or ripped or tall or whatever. If a guy is comfortable with who he is, and is kind and fun to be with, that is enough. I have to admit however, that I have always gone for the teddy bear type though. Just get to a…

Kudos to you for taking your health in your own hands! I'm older and my weight is taking a bit longer to come off. I work with some others who started higher than you and we have a friendly competition going. What is working for them is to eliminate soda and white flour products, and just simply walking. It is easy on your…
