I would also highly recommend "The life-changing magic of not giving a *kitten*" by Sarah Knight. Absolutely brilliant, and helped me do exactly that - stop caring about things that aren't important and remember I go to work for the kids, but also that I work to live and don't live to work. A really good read. Another…

Can't keep up with the thread this week! I won't be any better as I head towards the weekend either, as I'm away. I promise I'll be a better participant next week :) Another club run tonight, loving it even more now I've been there long enough that I recognise people and can chat away. December Running Challenge 2nd - 3.06…

Just a quick recovery run tonight to make up for not getting out there last night. I had a banging headache, the sort that makes you feel sick, so went to bed early instead. The headache hasn't cleared, but running helped briefly and I seem to be staving off a full-blown migraine. I haven't had one in years so I'll be…

Well done to all those who ran some really strong races this weekend @Orphia, @MobyCarp, @Ohhim and anyone else I've missed :)
-
This may not be a ridiculous idea! One of the girls at my running club wears them and I bet this is why (she's nearly 6ft) and it doesn't actually look bad. Maybe I'll invest

Long run with parkrun in the middle again this morning, and still loving this routine. I think having parkrun forces me to get up early to get there on time, which also means I get my long run over and done with, plus the race in the middle stops me from getting bored on long runs. Really enjoying it :) So this is my…

@greenolivetree Where are you getting these clothes?! I'm 5ft9 and 95% of running clothes I find are too short in the leg and arms, and the ones with thumb holes are my absolute favourite. Which brands are you talking about? NEED! @7lenny7 Sorry to hear you're injured. Have you decided what do do yet? Sounds like you still…

My main goal is to run sub-2 at my HM, to taper and recover properly; I couldn't really care less about mileage this month! I will say 80 again as an easy goal, but should be more like 90+.

DONE. Club run distance could hardly have been more perfect today, I thought I might have to do a few laps of the car park after we got back to meet goal but I didn't need to. Goal met! Also, I got a HUGE but unofficial 5km PB when we ran 3.1 miles back as a time-trial. My time was 24:30, which is down from 26:09!!! I know…

Thanks! I've been doing it part-time whilst working full-time anyway so the plan is just to keep doing what I'm doing and wheel it out come apraisal time when they mention salary and promotions

Had a horrible weekend, really should have run yesterday instead of sitting at home sulking. But anyway, went for a run today and feel awesome now, although running yesterday might have saved 24 hours of tears. Plus, got the results of my master's degree today and I officially passed, so that plus the run and I'm back on…

@BeeerRunner I'm glad it's not just me having a dumb moment with my watch!! @RespectTheKitty Well done on smashing 10 miles today
-
@MobyCarp and @juliet3455 My first lap when I thought I was running 9:00 and finding it easy was actually 10:00 and by the end I was running 8:30! CLEARLY have no real idea what I'm doing as any idiot surely would have thought there was something wrong at that point when I was obviously pushing tempo pace  I…
-
@Orphia Congrats on a new PB and making it to 50 parkruns! @Elise4270 Glad to see you beginning to get back to things, even if you haven't been officially cleared yet. Feels like it'll be really soon for you now. Went for a gorgeous long run this morning. This new 'Saturday morning long-run including parkrun' routine is my…

@shanaber I run pretty much exclusively in New Balance and I would highly recommend them. I've got the 850v5 and v6, which have helped my shin splints beautifully. I don't think they have the longevity that other shoes in the 'support' range do, as they seem to need replacing at about 350-400 miles, but they are about 33%…

Just a quick check in because I need to sleep. So tired! Went for my second run with my new running club tonight though and it was great. I ran with the middle group this time and it was perfect challenge/pace etc for me :) November Running Challenge 2nd - 4.05 miles 3rd - 4.27 miles 5th - 4.60 miles 6th - 7.28 miles…

A few slow miles around my favourite fields just because it was daylight and I've missed them this week. November Running Challenge 2nd - 4.05 miles 3rd - 4.27 miles 5th - 4.60 miles 6th - 7.28 miles 7th-12th - injured 13th - 5.37 miles 15th - 3.20 miles 16th - 3.40 miles 18th - 3.08 miles 19th - 8.38 miles 20th - 4.03…

A quick marathon-stalk on @kristinegift, puts her on-pace I think?
-
@dkabambe That's gorgeous! Where is that? Had a gorgeous run this morning. I ran the 2.5miles to Parkrun, ran Parkrun at my usual Parkrun pace and then ran home on a slightly longer route. The weather was gorgeous, the air was clear and I felt awesome afterwards. So awesome that I think I'm going to do it every week,…

@ceciliaslater I just wish you could tell the difference between the mud and their poop when the daylight is fading... @kristinegift Best of luck for your marathon! @Orphia Congrats on the new PB! @greenolivetree Sorry to hear you are having issues with shin splints. When I suffered at the beginning of the year, new…

@Stoshew71 I'd definitely like a hoodie, but I don't live in the US so I guess I couldn't join you all in that. @RespectTheKitty How are you feeling today? I know how it feels to be struggling with depression so if you ever want to chat away from the boards you can always message me :) @Elise4270 Hope you get good news…

Awesome PB @Stoshew71, congratulations!
-
@Ohhim A great race report, and again, such a fantastic achievement! @lissadecker Hope all is well for you, resting up is definitely the right things I'm currently down and out on the running front. I woke up on Monday almost unable to put my foot down as it hurt so much, which I can only assume came from when I rolled my…

So, I had a new frustration today, as my watch battery died en route :rage: Fortunately, I was on the way home by then and ran the same way home as I went, so it was easy to work out how far I had been. More annoyingly, by my calculations, I have only done 25 miles since the last charge, and although that's over 8 days and…
-
That's amazing @Ohhim, well done! To be in the top 5% too, such an inspiration
-
@Orphia, good luck for your HM, I bet the random glute issue is just down to taper crazies if you've never suffered with it before. @MobyCarp Great to see you're doing so well with your recovery :) @Ohhim Obviously I'm too late to wish you luck, but I'm sending positive thoughts your way. Just a really easy run for me…

@skippygirlsmom Possibly too late now (the time difference confuses me), but best of luck to Skip! @BeeerRunner I used the elliptical to help recover from injury when training for a half and I just went by time, as the distance doesn't seem to be equal in terms of effort, stride length etc. So if my plan said 4 miles, I…
