I think I did. It was only by accepting and loving the body I had, with all its imperfections, that I was able to change it. Yeah. I kind of do. On the one hand, as has been mentioned by a previous poster, I'm seeing it as battle scars from a hard-won war. On the other hand, I'm mightily pissed off that *I* did this to…

Exactly. A partner who has seen you at different sizes and been by your side as you have lost weight will be used to the changes. For anyone new, I can only imagine that a warning beforehand is going to be necessary. Once you reach a healthy weight, how you look with clothes on might (will) suggest that what's underneath…

Look at all these posts with no snark! This is why I love MFP. You're making me feel better about it. Thank you. :-)

I'm all about the snacks! Here's a list of what I, in the UK, graze on. * Greek yoghurt, peanut flour (PB2) and strawberries. Try it. Life changing. * Greek yoghurt with a home made fruit compote. Usually rhubabrb, because it's often cheap at the end of the day at the supermarket and really low calorie. * Cheaterpants…

I was a buxom wench of about 42E, UK size. I've lost about 70 pounds in total, and because I've been obese for so long, and I'm in my early 40s, my skin hasn't snapped back. While my cup size hasn't decreased significantly, my boobs are now very sad, wrinkly and deflated. Like abandoned party balloons. All bottom heavy and…

Yay! You might find that you really enjoy it. Get someone to really properly show you how to use the strength training equipment so you can work on preserving your muscle. You seem like the kind of person who might fall in love with the challenge of constantly increasing the weight you can lift. As for protein powders,…

You are going to be SO sorry when you realise that you have got to the weight you thought you ought to be but are still fat, because you ate so little that you lost a lot of muscle too. This is not a competition to see who can be most good, or eat the least. You win when you eat lots of great food and still lose weight.…

Looks about right, actually. This is a common food in the UK - wafer thin, honey roast ham. All the supermarkets carry their own brand version, but it's probably from the same place. Works out at about 11-12 calories a slice usually. I use it a lot, and usually weigh it - the slices end up being really regularly sized. As…

That's what I used to think - that people buying those 2kg tubs of protein powder were nuts. Then I tried it. Actually I tried a few before I found the ones that worked for me, in terms of price, calories, protein content etc. (Buying online is way cheaper than buying in a store btw) And then I discovered cookie dough…

1. Not that it really matters to your situation right now, since your starting weight is high enough to cope with the discrepancies, but... that typical day doesn't show you WEIGHING your food. It shows you measuring it. Cups and spoons aren't at all accurate for measuring solids, so you may well be eating more than you…

New record today. Fitness band said my walk was 125 calories. MapMyFitness says 306. At that sort of inflated rate the numbers are useless.
-
I've been using MapMyFitness for walks and the burn estimates are ridiculous. More than twice what my fitness band calculates, and a good 30% more than the MFP numbers. I had a look on the app's website about burn estimates, and they just say they use all your information to accurately calculate how many calories you used…

So much hard-won wisdom in this thread. Love it. :-)

I've just turned 41. Except for bouts of eating disorders that put me into the overweight category, I've always been obese. Since I was, oh, 8 or 9, I think. Right now I'm about 5 pounds away from having a healthy BMI. Very soon I will not be obese, not even overweight, but, as you say, normal. Men look at me, hold doors…

My cup size has stayed the same. Unfortunately, being older, and having been well-endowed for my entire adult life, what's left of my boobs could be mistaken for week old abandoned party balloons. :(
-
Mine had been 135/90 for as long as I can remember. Not high enough for meds, but enough to cause frowns. I took up jogging at 39. It stayed the same. I ate healthier. It stayed the same. I lost 10 pounds. It stayed the same. 6 or 7 months ago, at 40 years old and about 220 pounds I got serious about losing weight and…

Two weeks is nothing in weightloss. All sorts of things that aren't fat could be changing the number on the scale. Frustrating I know, but if you're doing everything right, then the scale will move in the right direction eventually. Just maybe not in a pattern or speed that you would prefer. :) If you open your food diary…

I've thought about this lots too. I set a goal of 75 kilos (165 pounds. I'm 5'9") but it's clear now that I'm about 10 pounds away that I can and probably should go lower than that. Originally I thought the same as you. My plan was to save up and treat myself to a personal shopper experience, since I've never really…

I've been dieting on an off for about 30 years, but this is the first time I've been consistently successful, and I'm now at my lowest adult weight ever. I'm actually in a much better situation now to focus completely on weight loss, and I know that's been a major part of my success. A few other things have made a…

Most fruit is full of sugar. It's also full of awesome stuff like vitamins, fibre and phytonutrients. If you eat your apple with the skin on, you'll get all of the polyphenols, which are actually pretty good for you in lots of ways.
-
All sorts of things could affect scale weight. You could be full of undigested food. Or erm... food that hasn't quite finished the digestion process. :-) (Honestly that makes a huge difference on the scale for me, masking losses to the extent that I think I must be doing something wrong.) You could be retaining a bit of…

Best option is the butterfly chicken with two sides of salad. But the quarter (and half chicken if you have enough calories spare) don't work out so bad if you just have the salad with them, and they're reasonably filling. Even the five chicken wings and a salad will cost you less than 400 calories. The next best option as…

Probably does. But doing it a lot isn't good for the achilles tendons. :/

It's my favourite protein shake, taste wise and texture wise. Put it in a shaker and it actually comes out smooth, which is pretty unusual! Contains a good amount of fibre and is fairly cheap too. It's a good product in my opinion. But compared to other protein powders, the protein content isn't all that high. I mix it…

My gym mostly has Life Fitness machines. I always thought the burn numbers they gave were too high and followed the advice to only best back half of what they said I'd burned. But, having used my MFP data to work out my actually daily calorie expenditure, I found that they are actually pretty accurate.
-
What happens if I have to miss a workout day? Would I just reduce my calories for that day by what I think I would usually have really burned?
-
Ha! Brilliant response. You're absolutely right of course, but I love metrics. Yes. Even though I suck at maths. I'm happy with my rate of loss, and with my exercise routine, and with the amount of food I've been eating. What I've not been happy with is the way that food has become a reward for going to the gym,…

Yes please! I'll PM you. :-)

Good point. I have them set at 1800 now. Way too low, right? I'm pretty consistent in my exercise routine, which is why I'm thinking of switching to TDEE. I could try 2000 for few weeks and see what happens. At that level it's not going to either make me lose too fast, or put weight back on, I should think.
-
Saw it done that way in another post somewhere on TDEE, which reminded me to sit and work it all out again. I really, really don't want to maintain for a couple of weeks to test my maths out though. I'm doing so well and am a bit scared of what not losing for a while will do to me psychologically. But I know my current…
