This would be my recommendation, or even a 40/30/30. Make sure your fats are "healthy" - eg: olive oil, avocado, almonds, pumpkin seeds etc - try not to eat too much saturated fat.

Log everything. Only way to ensure you're going to stay on target.

Great advice. Thanks for taking mine to the next level.

Most commercial soup bases and sauces contain artificial meat-like flavors that mimic those we used to get from natural, gelatin-rich broth. These kinds of short cuts mean that consumers are shortchanged. When the homemade stocks were pushed out by the cheap substitutes, an important source of minerals disappeared from the…

Love pasta but don't want the carbs? Use a mandoline to shred zucchini into "zoodles". (Google it). Boil them 2 minutes...amazing. I eat them all the time now, rarely buy pasta anymore. I'm not low carbing, but I just find it too difficult to eat a reasonable amount of pasta because it's so calorically dense.

You may want to get your thyroid checked. Salt cravings could suggest low thyroid as most salt is iodized, and iodine is key to thyroid function.

This. That's all you need. Heavy weights (meaning you can't do more than 5-6 reps per set.) Eat enough protein, get your sleep and watch 'em grow.

Inadequate (healthy) fat intake is a problem for many people trying to lose weight. Fats provide the building blocks for some of the most powerful hormones in our bodies. Nuts and seeds not only have plenty of good fats, but are loaded with trace minerals too, which can also have an effect on hormone production, which in…

My dad's p****. Oh you mean where do we live? Toronto.

Actually, that's exactly what it means.

Diet is 90% of the battle. The other 10% is exercise. Zumba is not an efficient or effective way to exercise. You would get much better return on your investment of time from a cardio perspective by running on a treadmill, and far more effective return from a muscle perspective doing weight training. That said, Zumba is…

Wow. Awesome. Good of you to put yourself out here for everyone's benefit.

I have a drinking problem. Doesn't matter how much, how hot, how cold - when it comes to liquids, I tend to guzzle, not sip.

Savannah, Georgia. Just beautiful.

Good work - nice to see someone busting their hump with the best exercises you can do in the gym. I like the following split - focus is on heavy movements. Monday and Tuesday are "heavy days" eg: typically sets maxing out between 4-7 reps. Thursday and Friday are lighter days, typically 8-12 reps with the exception of the…

Most boxed cereals are garbage. Far better to make your own with steel-cut oats, some seeds and nuts, etc. Eliminates all the unnecessary sugar, sodium, preservatives and other garbage that goes into processed cereals to make them palatable. Try this: 1/2 cup Quaker natural raw oatmeal 1 scoop whey protein powder 1/2 cup…

Fix that, you fix your problem. Most restaurant food is LOADED with calories because of how it's prepared. The other thing you may want to do is ensure you're doing a lot of compound exercises when you lift weights. Don't waste time on machines and doing isolation movements. You'll get much better results with compound…

Don't worry about your absolute weight on one scale vs. another. Focus on a downward trend using the same scale, in the same location, at the same time every time you do check it. I like to check every 3-4 days, first thing in the morning after I wake up, right after I've gone to the washroom. That kind of consistency…

That's a good point, and well-stated.

Processed garbage. Way too much sodium, processing wipes out a lot of the nutritional value. Make fresh food the night before, put it in tupperware. Try waking up 30-45 minutes earlier every day. There's always time, you just need to manage it appropriately.
-
I wake up at 4:55 every morning, gulp a big cup of black coffee, then have the following: 1/2 cup natural oatmeal 1.5 scoop whey protein powder 1/2 cup frozen blueberries 1 small banana Hit the gym at 6 AM, have a solid workout with weights (usually 8-10 exercises, 3-4 sets per exercise, all written down) 7 AM get home,…

Something in your life is bothering you. Fix it and you might fix your compulsion to overeat. Stress is a killer.

I'm not a library. Do your own research.

If you are married and think that once you lose weight you'll get a lot more attention from the opposite sex, and will therefore likely leave your spouse, I suggest you either a) get a divorce now, b) see a marriage counsellor, c) visit a shrink. There's something wrong with your self-esteem, your relationship or both.

You want advice? Get off your *kitten*, hit the gym and watch what you eat instead of lamenting the consequences of your bad decisions. More constructively: you need to set a firm goal, visualize that goal, imagine how you will feel, what you will look like etc. You then need to think of what will happen if you don't and…

If you aren't doing this already, drink 8-10 glasses of water daily...and really watch your sodium intake. If you are retaining water (which ironically, drinking water helps with unless you have certain medical conditions) your scale may not budge. Are you exercising too, or just calorie counting? You may try reducing your…

I dont need to burn my hand on a hot stove to have the "insight" that doing so would be harmful. Anyone who can read an ingredient list can see that Shakeology is overpriced protein powder. But hey, it's your money....
