I joined a gym and did a treadmill workout this morning. My Garmin indoor results were way off the treadmill's stats. It seemed accurate for my walking speed but way off for my jogging speed. Anyone know if there is a gadget I can get for my shoe or something to make it more accurate? Then, I used indoor bike and it didn't…

Congratulations @Orphia @7lenny7 and @lporter229 ! @JessicaMcB what an incredible debut! So sorry about the extra 6 kilometres. That is really unfortunate. Hope recovery is speedy. Can’t wait to see what’s next for you! @Elise4270 Sorry about the pains. Hope they are nothing serious.
-
Congratulations @JessicaMcB ! Total beast mode! Congrats @cburke8909 ! Great photos!
-
Congrats @HonuNui ! What a wonderful result you had. Love all the photos of everyone. I made sure to put on my suncreen and completed the AIM Virtual 5K today. I had hoped to get it done as part of my track and field practice, but my quads were shot after the very hard warm-up so I decided to skip the rest of the team…

Congrats @eponine1984 ! That’s awesome! I got my husband to start doing races with me, but he was twice as fast without training, which was a little annoying. My own fault though :) Now, he is addicted and trains. I created a monster.

Perfect sense. Thanks @PastorVincent !

@PastorVincent I'm not sure. My pace is only slightly improving at that aerobic heart rate (143-158). But . . . I can go faster doing a run/walk than running without walking, so the running without walking is pretty new. Despite the heart rate not being much improved, my breathing is much improved and I am able to run in…

13 - 5.05 km MTD: 34.12/60 km My quads have been so sore this week and particularly today. I thought about skipping the run. I have a hard tempo track and field workout tomorrow and I am not sure how I'm going to fare. Coach wants to see improvement over last week's workout, and I fear I will be going backwards. But, I am…

Thanks for the link to SPAM @shanaber. I got a bit confused and registered. Sorry @HonuNui if I should have only donated. The deadline has passed for sending the medal/t-shirt so hopefully it won't make a difference, right?
-
@skippygirlsmom Omg. That's nuts. They weren't even registered yet? Wow. One thing after another, hey? Sounds like you had to pull out all of your problem-solving skills. Congrats to Skip though; sounds like a tough field!

@_nikkiwolf_ I had the same experience about saying my goal time of under 45 for the 5K and the person thought I meant the 10K. When I explained it was for the 5K, I got a sad look in response. Your huge improvement gives me hope! Sorry to read about all the injuries. Heal quickly, everyone! After a long calf strain in…

@JessicaMcB good luck at Whistler! It snowed on the mountains here in Vancouver last night, so I expect it will be cool at the start. Hubby and I do the MEC races all the time. Most are awesome. There was only one I didn’t love because it was a bit too busy for the trail. You don’t get t-shirts and bling, but they are…

@ariceroni how awesome! Congratulations! Fab photos too.

Great race report @garygse and selfie finish. Congratulations again!

@eponine I am very slow. I am often around 15 mins/mile. I enjoy running, so I try not to let the speed get to me. I am trying to build my aerobic base, but it is taking forever. I am on Strava and Garmin if you ever want to see my paces.

Yay! I am catching up on the thread finally. @hanlonsk I have low blood pressure and get something similar once in a while. But ... my peanut allergy started out that way, too, so if you are eating anything before your workouts, you may want to consider that suspect. For me, it got progressively worse and it is because of…
-
@shanaber that is so interesting. Thanks for sharing and being so specific with how you are eating around exercise. May I ask how long you have been eating at the higher calories and how much you have left to lose? I have such a hard time eating less than 1500 or 1600 calories and I seem to be maintaining, which seems…

I bet six weeks sounds like forever. Sorry to hear it! I agree. I have been focusing on eating slowly and learning to recognize true hunger vs emotional hunger (I eat outside of meals for all of the reasons you've listed) for the last month. And I just added working on eating to 80% full. It's been quite eye-opening. I was…
-
@hanlonsk That is so interesting about your appetite. I find I get quite hungry later on in the day on running days, but not till the day after on strength days. So the appetite is suppressed for a while with each, but it always catches up to me. I am being careful to eat enough immediately following each workout. I…

I envy your metabolism, @MobyCarp . I had to go down to 1300/day before exercise this last little bit while I was sidelined. It's been really tough. Good job staying on target today! How long do you expect to be on the injury list? My calf strain has been healing just over three weeks now and I'd say I'm about 90%. I had…
-
That's wonderful @shanaber and thanks for sharing her tips. I will try that running schedule once my calf is healed. I have been aiming for 30g of protein per meal and 10g per snack, but it is tough to achieve at all meals. 20g sounds good. Congrats on the lean muscle gain!
-
@Elise4270 That free one is good motivation. I will ask them to make me a deal like that. Though it is pretty hard to lose 5% ... no? I should figure that out before I ask.
-
@MobyCarp I am in the same boat. I have a calf strain (I think) going on two weeks now. It hurts sitting/lying and standing/moving. I tried to work through it the first week but only made things worse. Today marks one week with no running or strength workouts. I am seriously missing those exercise calories. But I am…
-
Aw, sorry it didn't go smoothly today @MNLittleFinn . Hope you are not too bruised up. Sounds like such a tough one. @PastorVincent what a crazy race! You had a good attitude considering. And sorry about the tire. Wow, you are due for something good.
-
Well, you've alarmed me from getting a dexa now lol. Ignorance is bliss. Yes, I was reading an article about how we lose 1% muscle mass per year after 50. Scary stuff. Hope you find a strength program you like. I am loving the Strong Curves so far (just finished week 5).
-
Wow, that's a big difference. Thanks for comparing them. I won't rely too much on the online one then. Yes, I've heard the dexa are accurate. I just wondered if an error could have been made by the human operating it (or reading the results).
-
Are you comfortable with the accuracy of the dexa results? That seems high for your weight/height. Does it seem to fit with the visual guides out there such as this? I can't offer much since my body fat is 37.7% according to the online calculator I've been using. But it tells me I have managed to gain 5.5 lbs muscle and…

I just started the year of coaching on July 24th. I'll send a friend request.

Woohoo! Congratulations!

Lol this is my naval, almost hip territory then. I have long arms and legs with a shorter back. . I had to Google this as Elise said chest was at the armpits and others said ribcage. Armpits were correct from what I found. Below protuberances was for bra measurement, but you were to add 5 to the number to approximate your…
