Thanks for all the information. Darn, I was thinking of upgrading to the 920xt, but since mine is still working fine I just decided to get the FitBit instead. I didn't do enough research :( I'm underwhelmed with the accuracy of my FitBit. I will have to look closer at all the new Garmins. That's very cool that you are…

Thanks, I'll have to do some research. For sure. I love data. Whenever I feel like I'm not improving, I just have to look at the data from a few months ago. Seeing the difference motivates me to continue.

Interesting. Which Forerunner do you have? Does this mean you wear it all the time? I have the Garmin Forerunner 310xt and it doesn't have anything like that. I only wear it for working out. I am and have always been a poor sleeper, so I am the same as Moby and try to get to bed by ten o'clock. On nights when I stay up, I…

Happy holidays! I've done a few 5K Resolution Runs, and each time I swore I'd never do another :/. Most years I forget and sign up anyway, but I remembered not to this year. Enjoy!

Ha, that's awesome. Thanks for sharing and congratulations!

Very interesting. And now that you are running and lifting weights, do you try to time that so you do this before you eat? I work out in the mornings, and have always been told to eat back at least what I burn within 60 minutes to avoid muscle loss. Just wondering how this would work or need to be changed. What do you…

Thank you for all the instructions. Strava looks interesting. I have joined, linked my GarminConnect account, and sent a request to join the group.

Looks great!

Thanks for posting these. It's great to see what you guys are doing!

The hr feature doesn't seem to be as accurate as my chest strap. I had one workout that was similar after five minutes, but the next was 15-20 beats lower for the whole thing. Distance was spot on for me once I set my stride. I will keep wearing my Garmin for runs, but not bother for walks.

Hi Nancy, I had the same problem. I had to edit the workout to tell Fitbit it was a walk, and then the distance appeared. If it says workout, no distance shows.

I read auto turns it off when it determines you aren't wearing it to save the battery, whereas on leaves it seeking all the time. I noticed it took a while into the run to recognise the higher heart rate. I was in the 140s and it was saying 100-120, but by the end it was pretty much the same as my Garmin. I was surprised…

I just upgraded to the Charge HR from the One and am getting higher burns. I went on a walk/run yesterday and wore my One, my Garmin, and my new Charge HR and got the following calorie burns: Fitbit Charge HR: 33:49 mins, avg 147 bpm, max 173 bpm, 352 calories, 1.78 miles, 3,930 steps Fitbit One: 34:00 mins, 332 calories,…

I had the same problem. I now pre-soak all my running clothes (and heart rate monitor strap) for 30 minutes in vinegar (I add about 2 cups to warm water in the washing machine - no soap) before doing a regular wash and it has made all the difference. I don't need to do it every time, just every month or so.

A serving and a half of brown rice with about 3/4 of a ounce of cheese on top (it melts when placed on the hot rice) topped with salsa for flavour is just around 400 calories. I use a cheap rice cooker to make the rice, just put it on and come back 50 minutes later - done! It's easy to mix it up by stir-frying fresh…

Yay, Terri! That is phenomenal. Way to go! Congratulations!

And what a steady downward trajectory - fantastic. Congratulations!

What an accomplishment. Congratulations!

Hi Lisa, Yes, summer was tough for me too. Alcohol is a big factor for me. I like wine too much. And chocolate. I guess it's like they say, you can't outrun a bad diet. Fall does feel like a bit of a fresh start. I like that - the new year before the new year. It's nice to get back into a routine!

Thanks! I am able to double one meal, but the planning involved in what you are doing for multiple lunches and dinners is astounding. Really well done!

Seriously impressive. I wish I could wrap my head around how to do anything near similar. Well done!

Wow, incredible transformation. Way to go. You look younger and one can really see the lovely bone structure in your face now.

I'm not keen on a whole bottle of sauce, but I make pulled pork often in the crock pot. I usually make my own bbq sauce or a balsamic one. I've never thought of doing chicken, so thanks for sharing. [edited by MFP Mods]

Thanks a lot - I'd never heard of that site. I was using the Heartland at first, but I couldn't find it anywhere after a while.

I have a legume allergy so no beans, lentils, peas, soy, peanuts for me. And I tested positive for a dairy allergy at one point, though I am eating it now with no recognizable problems. (Edited) I used the Nutribiotic vanilla brown rice protein for a long time. It tasted good in protein balls (sunflower seed butter, dates,…

Congratulations, Mary! Fantastic!!!

Sounds like a good decision for you. And I'd also suggest you use the scale at your gym regularly if you want to weigh more often. As long as you are using the same scale week to week (or day to day) at a similar time of day you should get a good gauge of the direction things are going. Always weigh before you work out…

This is a great point. I also use a measuring tape, and some months the inches drop while the pounds don't. Some months the scale moves and the inches stay the same. Both are great tools.

As the mother of an eighteen-year-old boy, I can say most definitely not everyone is so considerate :) You sound like a lovely person. Scales are reasonably small, and I think if you want one, you should tell your parents (or maybe only your father) you have decided you feel it will benefit you from a motivational…
