  • This might be the one you mean. mattfitzgerald.org/8020-zone-calculator/ He also has info on how to set your Garmin 5 zones to best match his as per an earlier discussion. mattfitzgerald.org/how-to-create-8020-zones-on-your-garmin-device/
  • Love the shirt, @katharmonic ! July 9: 5.85 km Today was a hard one. I felt sluggish and wanted to walk right from the start. Every running step was a battle. I am having on staycation and eating out too much. I imagine that was the explanation for how I felt. I'll have to smarten up this week. MTD: 28.81 km / 75 km
  • July 7: 3.6 km I was having a good run with less walk breaks than usual, but then my left achilles started paining. I decided to cut my workout short and walk the rest of the way home. Felt fine once I was walking, so hopefully it was nothing. MTD: 22.97 / 75 km
  • Happy birthday, @kimlight2 ! Got a late start today, and it was too hot. I guess I'll have to get up earlier even though I'm on holidays. Bleh. I'm doing the 80/20 10K Level 1 plan and enjoyed the speed play workout today. I ran between 6:30-7:00/km for the 1-min speed intervals (x5), which is about three minutes faster…
  • July 5: 4.63 km Total: 15.18 km / 75 km
  • Thanks! Yes, I need to be grateful I enjoy being active. Let's have a great month. Happy running to you as well!
  • @PastorVincent I'm all about the ketchup (and relish). Yum. Now, I'm hungry.
  • 7/1: 5.36 km 7/3: 5.19 km 10.55 / 75 km My hr was all over the place today because the barista must have decided that I needed caffeine instead of my usual decaf (I have an arrhythmia that acts up with caffeine). It made for an amusing run trying to get/stay in the right zone. On the bright side, I don't have any anxiety…
  • I don't know if dehydration can cause low hr, but it does contribute to low bp in my experience. Doc said the rise in heart rate with low bp can indicate something amiss. My Garmin does act up on occasion, so it may be your Garmin lol I suspect it has something to do with sweat (too much/too little?), but I have to wipe…
  • I have low bp normally that gets ever lower running even not-so-high volume. My doc tells me to check my pulse and if it's not high and I don't have any symptoms (ignoring dizzy when sitting/standing - postural hypotension), not to worry. She says to drink more water and get extra sodium, which does seem to help within a…
  • @MNLittleFinn Only 955 feet of elevation? Sounds like quite a bit to me. I had 18 meters on today's run lol. Great job! What's the elevation for the race you are training for?
  • July 1: 5.36 km Total: 5.36 km / 75 km
  • I'm so sorry about your sister @katharmonic Your July running is inspired and inspiring. Thanks for sharing and bringing awareness. Hugs. I covered my phone in a baggie with rice when I got it wet and it did work again! Caveat: unfortunately, it would never charge again. Still, worth a try.
  • Yay, Elise. I love company!
  • Back after a long break. I got discouraged but have realized I enjoy running, so I shouldn't care if I'm as slow as molasses. Better to be doing something slowly than doing nothing. I'll aim for 75 km this month.
  • Sorry for skipping out this month. I'm trying to catch up. I'm on page eight! We've had ice since the beginning of December and I was too scared to run outside as it was lumpy, bumpy ice. People were literally able to skate and play hockey on our roads. Then, I pulled my trap/neck doing weights, and well, I've been having…
  • I have the 1-day Acuvue Moist because I have really dry eyes as well as a fairly high astigmatism in both eyes (mine are both around -3.25 and these only go up to -2.25). I settle for the -2.25 and still see decently. I prefer glasses, so just get the 1-day for the occasions I find contacts better suited - swimming,…
  • @7lenny7 Your tree is awesome. Very creative! That's funny about the snow tires there. I thought maybe Calgary was an exception, but it sounds as if Vancouver is instead. I'd say a third to half of people here in Vancouver put snow tires on every winter. Yesterday, much of our snow melted and it rained, which created a…
  • @Virkati That's wonderful. Congrats! @katharmonic I did snowshoeing for the first time last year, and it was way harder than I thought. We went up on the mountain, so it was hiking, not running, but still tough. Glad you enjoyed it! @juliet3455 Haha about all your snow shovels. I'm originally from Calgary, AB, and always…
  • Had my first snow run today. Wore some rubber traction things over my shoes (similar to yak tracks?) that my husband got from his work as a postie and they worked perfect. We're on day two of snow and more is expected, so I might get to do it again. Since no one here owns a shovel, except for the one neighbour I stopped to…
  • @stoshew71 and @MobyCarp Good luck with your races!
  • Sorry to all who are dealing with injuries and spills. May your recovery be quick! Thanks @ddmom0811 and @louubelle16 for the book talk. Those sound perfect for this time of year. @Elise4270. Sorry you still haven't been cleared to run AND for a double whammy they are making you go back to work. Blech. I went for blood…
  • @Calvin2008Brian Happy birthday! @BeeerRunner and @loubelle16 So leg warmers may be a trend again? I'll be hip (at least in my mind) when I'm one of the first. 12/3: 5 12/4: 2.39 Total: 8.39 / 40
  • November's goal was 80 and a complete fail so I'm shooting for 40 miles this month. Dec 3: 5 Total: 5/40 @loubelle16 and @greenolivetree Ha, me too. I'm 5'8" but I have long legs. Most running pants leave a large gap of exposed skin. I was thinking maybe I'd try to bring back leg warmers from the 80s to fill the gap.…
  • Go @elise4270 go! That's awesome that you are going to learn. My son plays many instruments and while the recitals could be dreadful, there was nothing cuter than watching 4-year-olds learning the play the violin. Channel your inner toddler! If you YouTube it, I will watch (at least once). Beautiful pics @skippygirlsmom.…
  • Thanks @shanaber for the words of encouragement. It's not perfect running weather for me . . . yet. I need to figure out how to enjoy getting cold and wet lol
  • With this gloomy weather and getting a year older again (sigh), I found myself in a funk and got behind. Sorry, I won't try to catch up on the hundreds of missed posts, but I hope you have all been doing great. There's no way I'm going to make my goal this month, but I made a new plan, am back at it, and feel (somewhat)…
  • @girlinahat When I started, I had to run at 3 mph on the treadmill to keep my heart in the aerobic zone. I am still slow, around 4.3 mph, but it is progress.
