  • Personally as a general rule I dont weigh myself if I have sore muscles, it usually ends in disappointment. I often exercise heavy on the weekend and I dont tend to drink as much water. M-F my water intake is fantastic. So for me I tend to not to weigh till Wednesday, the extra water on M/T helps flush out water weight and…
  • I am assuming that you put in 2pds per week as your weight loss goal? MFP number with exercise shows how many calories you should eat taking into account the target weight loss.
  • While its has been pointed out that MFP is for 18+ I have seen people refer to sparkteen when someone has come onto MFP as the place they should go to. I have no idea what its like but it might be worth you having a look at it if you think it might be appropriate. My daughter is about to turn 9, shes super active. She has…
  • Yep I have a book with plastic sleeves that you slip the recipe into. Its not super organized (I like the plastic tab idea), I have recipes from a program i did last year mainly but also have stuff that i have pulled out of mags, printed from websites. For me its better because a cookbook would have heaps of stuff I…
  • If you've been at it a month I would have expected any withdrawal symptoms to have passed by now. Possibly that you have overly restricted and arent eating enough. As a teen I would get the shakes/cold sweat if I hadnt eaten/drunk anything. I assumed it was a blood sugar thing, my cousin was the same. He once passed out…
  • Tip- lifting weights might give you enough muscle definition that even if your arms are bigger you still feel confident wearing tank tops etc. I developed some definition after about 3 months of body weight exercises (in addition to losing 10% of body weight over the same period),but my arms look better now. I have only…
  • Activity level has no relevance to BMR. BMR is what you need to keep you body functioning. TDEE is calculate using a multiplier times your BMR EG (Now different TDEE calculators will use different multipliers this is one example) Little or No Exercise: TDEE = 1.2 x BMR Light Exercise/Sports 1 to 3 Times Per Week: TDEE =…
  • No doubt you'll get a heap of you cant spot reduce comments on this thread, which is true. I am similar to you but I am working on upper body strength (of which I have none ATM), my thinking is that by making my arms/upper body more muscular my legs wont look disproportionate. Legs carry around all our excess weight, ever…
  • Well assuming that you are doing 4 days of 2maintennace and 3 days fasting its the same as eating 1357 per day. This is aggressive but not IMO dangerous depending on how big your calorie burns are. If you do 3 days maintenance & 4 days fasting it would average 1,143 which generally is too low unless you are very very…
  • I dont think that the fact you are awake longer means you can eat more unless it means you are more active than normal. One day of eating an extra 120 cal isnt going to derail you completely. Though the lack of sleep might mean you hold some water weight. It also looks like your at teh lower end of a healthy BMI so I…
  • I personally found that red meat caused flare ups, fish, chicken breast and seafood were fine for me. Dairy wasnt good. Any mince and steak would see me rolling around the shower floor in agony. How aggressive is your goal? I would personally wait and see what your actual losses come out at before getting overly concerned.…
  • After my gall bladder removal I had to stay clear of fats/dairy for a month and slowly reintroduce them. That was nearly 7 years ago. I actually lost a lot of weight leading up to and following the surgery as we tended to eat too much red meat prior to that. It did change the proportion of meat we used in meals going…
  • I find my weight loss noticeable but most people dont comment on weight. I am down around 11kg which was about 12% of my body weight. I had one work college says you've lost a shitload of weight but that's it. People I have discussed food & exercise at work havent said anything either. Mind you When I starting working here…
  • As you lose weight the amount of energy you burn to do everything is less so weight loss would slow down BUT unless your maintenance calories were 1200 you would continue to lose weight. I am not saying 1200 is the right calorie target for you. That will depend on your activity and how much weight you have to lose.
  • Are you being realistic when agreeing to the plan with the nutritionist diet? Without knowing what its actually like it might be too aggressive? That seems to be the main reason behind the restriction/binge cycle that may people including me seem to go through over and over again. Planning and preparation play a big part…
  • Ive done 2,000 steps so far and been given a grand total of 45 extra calories. I am set as sedentary on MFP and am 5"4 & 180pds. I usually get roughly 400 extra by the end of the day when I hit around 7-8k steps no purposeful exercise. Looking back and Wed i did just over 6k and got 354, yesterday I got 990 extra cal and…
  • I found when I first started my grocery bill seemed hug but then I was only shopping once a week now instead of 3-4 times so less opportunity for extras to get thrown in so while it seem higher it probably wasnt. Repeat meals frequently so if you have to buy breadcrumbs for just one dish you use it (probably not a great…
  • I use a mole on my arm as a landmark, measure 20cm up from my bent knee for my thigh. The waist I do standing in front of the mirror so i can see the tape measure is across the smallest point. Hips are probably the one I am least confident on consistency but i measure across the top of my of my pelvic line basically. Its…
  • I get similar adj for that many steps but with no weight/ height given its kinda hard to give good feedback.
  • Its not much of a break if its stressing you out! I had a look at your profile and see your 1/2way to your goal. Congratulations! Not sure how aggressive you weekly target for weight loss is as you dont mention it. I would agree with the suggestion of just making your deficit smaller than your normal target deficit. That…
  • I am surprised that no one suggested strength training as yet, its helps retain muscle which makes your body look better as you lose weight. I have recently started stronglifts 5x5, I have by no means seen results as yet but I've read and seen great things on here about the results. I got some results from body weight…
  • Do you take it on an empty stomach? A quick google search and I found people mentioning heartburn if not taken with food. I assume the script doesnt specify either way? I have to take my thyroid medication on an empty stomach though I have found that if I leave it too long to eat that sometimes I get mild heartburn but…
  • A break if great but make sure you keep weighing yourself regularly to make sure your break doesnt end up with you putting on weight again, you dont want to have to lose those pds all over again. That being said you may experience an initial bump in weight as you move from a deficit so give yourself an upper limit that if…
  • I would use my tracker to give me avg daily steps (probably using weekly figures) without purposeful exercise i.e. your actual walk and then make sure MFP is set up to the correct activity level based on that. So typically I do around 7,000 steps on a normal day so I am lightly active. The problem is if its not consistent…
  • What are you using to track steps? The device may sync with MFP. Sedentary would be less than 5,000 steps per day so if your device doesn't sync with MFP you can change your setting.
  • The introduction of running may be causing fluid retention for muscle repair given its a new exercise. This will be temporary but I am not sure how long it may last for. Are you still sore the next day after running? If the answer is yes then I would think its due to muscle repair fluid retention.
  • Should you be trying to lose weight if your are on the lower end of BMI?
  • I think you will find lots of people have, it appears a lot shoot for the top of their BMI to start and once they get there the decide to keep going based on their happiness with how they look at the weight. My first goal was a 10kg weight loss which I have achieved from my highest point but not yet from my average weight…
  • I was thinking the same thing, esp since the skin tone appears to be very different even taking into account one photo is B&W and the hair as well.
