  • I am assuming you havent logged your new weight in the progress part, that will adjust your calories automatically. So yes you can reach a standstill as you lost weight your deficit decreased as you need less energy for body functions at a smaller size. Depending on how aggressive your initial goal was you may have hit…
  • I have the aria and usually it gives me the same reading within 100g. I have to move my scales each morning from their hiding place (otherwise kids jump on them) which is why I get small variations, occasionally I get really excited about a low weight only to discover something under the scales. I will generally weigh…
  • I completely let go food wise over Easter. Didnt think was it good or bad, do I really need anymore. I ate when hungry which some days meant I skipped lunch altogether. I weighed myself Tuesday and found I had put on a kilo. Treated Tuesday & Wednesday like normal days, but probably upped the water intake (I tend to drink…
  • I have recently been diagnosed with hypothyroid. I have the auto immune disease which is hereditary but my family have all tended to run hyper. Not sure how long I've had it. I had been putting my tiredness down to having glandular fever 8 years ago (which I think is mono in other parts of the world). I had many of the…
  • Ok so if I have read this right, you are losing just shy of 2pds a week since November. You've got about 40 pds till you reach a healthy BMI, not sure what your actual weight goal is but guessing about 130 so maybe up to 55 pounds to go. I cant quite tell if you think you are losing weight too fast and maybe should eat…
  • My fitbit seems pretty accurate. It does get confused when I do the weekly shopping and sometimes picks it up as cycling. I havent had issues in the car though. We did a 3000km trip recently and it was accurate in recording i did very few steps for the 3 days we were driving. I found that I was more active during the week…
  • I have mine set to sedentary and let fitbit do the adj for me too. In reality I am lightly to moderately active 6 days a week and generally only 1 day of sedentary. That's without purposeful exercise. I usually get around 400 extra calories a day. At the moment I am not tracking food so am not measuring whether this is…
  • My natural shape is hourglass but my weight had got to a point where I lost most of my natural waist. The first few kilos came off there, I lost 10cm around the waist quite quickly. Now the waist cms are slow to come off. From this point I expect my shape will stay the same and reduce all over. It's hard work from here for…
  • To lose weight you need a calorie deficit, you cant outrun a bad diet is a common phrase. You can lose wight without exercise but exercise is good for your health. It can also help retain muscle/lean body mass which results in a better looking body.
  • I have been bouncing between 80kg & 90kg for the last 10 years. I just cant seem to get below that. Sitting just below 83 atm and hoping I am still on a downward trend. I used 85 as an upper limit over xmas as I was a bit over it after 3 months of solid effort (I went from 94-83 between Sept & Dec last year). I am really…
  • If you wear a fitbit all the time and its linked to MFP it will auto add calories if you go over a sedentary lifestyle. So if you eat at least a portion of exercise calories it wont matter.
  • What you didnt mention was what MFP says you should be eating to achieve x weight loss. For me to lose 0.5kg per week MFP recommends 1370 cal per day. It wont actually let me set a goal of 1kg per week, it stops at the min 1200 for a woman which is equal to about 0.7kg per week. I am set as sedentary due to desk job but I…
  • You haven't mentioned what your daily calories are set to but I see your profile says your a 19yo male so I am guessing you are eating a lot less than MFP recommends. Its not uncommon to lose a bit more to start with AKA water weight, and also not uncommon for some of that to come back when you stop eating at a deficit.…
  • It will depend on how overweight you are to start with and also I think for taller people it will take longer for others to notice. I started 207lbs and I am 5'4. I have lost 23lbs. Not a lot of people have commented on my weight loss though one guy at work description was I had lost a shitload of weight so I think its…
  • My understanding is that if were a sales person on my feet and got heaps of steps in yes you would set to active but you would still log the 2 hours in the gym as a separate activity. I played around with how many times a week I work out and it never changed my calorie allowance, it only changed the allowance if I changed…
  • The 1830 MFP has given you already has a calorie deficit built into it based on the goal you chose when you set it up. MFP will adjust your calorie goal up if you log exercise.
  • Its a good reminder, my daughter is about to turn 9 and so I know things I say out loud (or do) now will have a lasting impression on her. I havent ever been critical of my body out loud but I do slip in the diet word a bit. I try to teach my kids about balance when it comes to food. These lessons are hard for me to give…
  • In my case I was getting married in the monsoon season and we had moved the date forward. I originally wanted my dress made but that was proving difficult so I went with an off the rack dress that was suitable to the weather that time of year. I live in a small city (rather remote really) which doesnt have a large range of…
  • I've been in a rut and finally worked out it related to my thyroid. I did the aggressive diet 1200-1400 cal per day and 1 hr of exercise 6 days a week for 12 weeks. I lost 20or so pounds but it wasnt a lifestyle I could maintain. It did however help with the energy levels and my TSH improved (diagnosed a few weeks into…
  • For me 30% BF is probably 5kg over my max weight for a healthy BMI, so pretty close to your stats I am currently obese under both methods though online calculators looking at height and weight put my bf% in the high 40's (I think one came back 48%),measurement ones put me around 32% and my home scales have me at about 35%.…
  • My sister was similar when last time to lose weight. She's thin but I think she was jealous of the complements I was getting. We were talking about my weight loss and goal weight. I cant remember what I gave as my goal weight likely 70kg. She immediately said that I should aim for 60 for my frame. She was probably right…
  • When I bought my wedding dress the zip wouldnt do up. Rather than worry about trying to fit into it the seamtress put in a lace up back insert. It looked great and took any pressure off losing or gaining weight. It also made what was a kinda plain dress look better. 6 months is plenty of time to lose enough weight to go…
  • I found it expensive to start with. I didnt have basics like flour, breadcrumbs etc but as time went on I found that I only needed to get a couple of ingredients to make a meal as I had all the rest after a while. I did find it more expensive when I was trying out lots of different recipes but once I got my standard range…
  • Yep, I got back to my 'normal' weight again last year. I have dropped about 13pounds since then but am struggling to get below 185pds again. Usually I get to 175 and stall and then creep back up cause I give up. I am just trying to stick with it and not gain again at the moment. I would like to drop some more weight but…
  • I started drinking diet coke and then one day when I was sick my mum bought me a real coke as I couldn't keep anything down. I have drunk coke ever since. I have drunk coke xero from time to time but when it first came out it gave me the runs. A 4-5 can habit at my worst. I had to quit cold turkey last year. I was in bed…
  • Congrads on maintaining your weight loss for 8 months. I was doing a food and nutrition course through an open uni course last year. Set point or set weight was a topic in the course. The theory being we have a set weight our body naturally falls to. I have found this to be true for me, between kids etc my weight always…
  • Just wanted to say that sucks. Without understanding your spine issues not really sure what to suggest. A stationary bike you might be able to pick up second hand, that would add some cardio. Yoga/Pilates might also be a good idea to help build up core strength, lots of videos on the internet. I have a sway back and was…
  • I too love my aria. I would skip entering gains if i was manually entering. The BF% can jump around a bit though it will give you a trend if you use under the same settings. There are things that will affect the BF% shown that can make it jump around i.e. if you weigh freshly out of a shower (feet slightly damp), since I…
  • Its pretty unlikely you will be able to lose 19kg in 3 months. Yes it is good for you to run everyday for 20mins but that alone isnt going to get you to your goal. You will need to really monitor your food intake and I would also suggest adding some weight training to your exercise program. With out knowing more about you…
  • I am a huge coke addict. Last year I went cold turkey for 10 weeks. After the first week it wasnt too bad as I was doing a food program at the same time and not buying lunch, eating takeout etc made it easy. During this time I really focused on changing the habit of drinking with meals cause I'd always choose coke…
