I never force myself to eat when I'm not hungry (anymore), or when I'm not doing anything that might require my body to have additional fuel. I have been well under 1200 on some days. But, it has also been quite a bit over on some days. Part of developing a healthy relationship with food (which I'm guessing most of us do…

I'm definitely more sensitive to foods now. I can tell by how I feel within a half hour of eating when I've eaten something I shouldn't have. I made a gorgeous french onion and mushroom soup this last weekend. As it turns out, I can't eat onions. Bloating, headache, and gas ensued. How it's even remotely possible that I…

That would be really pretty. Please post the link if you find it. :)

I've set my calories to maintenance, and my daily caloric goal to what my "non-active" day TDEE should be when I'm at my goal weight. I do not eat back my exercise calories, and I think I've finally got MFP setup to not adjust my calories with exercise. I should also add that I eat when I'm hungry. Some days I eat 1000.…

Is it one of those infrared toasters? The ones that perfectly toast the outside and leave the inside all nice and soft? If we had one of those things there is no way I could give up toast.

My husband and children use it.

What awesome projects! :) Thank you for sharing these. I think my little man and I are going to have some fun with ornaments this year.

Thanks, @closetlibrarian ! I did add a "glug" of red wine to the soup, along with a "glug" of balsamic vinegar. I just had a bowl of it with 60 grams of a gorgeous Gruyère (I'm so thankful that my doc didn't remove cheese from my diet!), and it was really wonderful. :)

I had a severe allergic reaction to Isagenix. I was hospitalized last Boxing Day because of it. I had to get the Canadian Food Inspection Agency involved in my quest to determine what it was that I was allergic to. I felt that there must be an undeclared allergen in it, as my reaction was the same one I get if I consume…

My waistline has fattied up this year . . . from 30" to 37"! My weight went up 23lbs. I only gained an inch on my hips and bust. I gained nothing on my calves, and a 1/4" on my thighs. I'm 42 and perimenopausal. I'm also now insulin resistant. I've received a stern "talking to" from my physician. He put me on an…

I'll have 85%+ dark chocolate or coconut flakes. Those are the only two sweet treats I allow myself. Usually it will be the dark chocolate, as the stuff I typically buy is so costly I can't financially afford binge on it.

I gain 3-4lbs.

I forgot to add . . . it usually takes me around 15-30 minutes to eat my meals. My eating has slowed down a lot now. I don't shovel food into my face anymore. And, I chew better.

I usually have four or five meals a day. The first four come really close together (within two hours of each other, typically). 9am, 11am, 1pm, and 3pm. If I have supper, it is three or four hours after my afternoon snack. My meals are typically from 150-300 calories, but they'll get larger. I've had two meals just over…

Honestly, for a situation where guests were being hosted I wouldn't worry about trying to substitute treats with "paleo" alternatives. I find that the K.I.S.S. nature of paleo is being completely lost with a lot the recipes I've read. I also think that these substitutes could also be "gateways" that lead one back to…

I'm not a purist in that my physician still allows me to have high fat dairy (I also eat low carb to try to stabilize my blood sugar). Hubby made soup for me yesterday: a copy of the Olive Garden's Zuppu Toscana Soup. He used my homemade chicken stock as a base, and he swapped out the potatoes with cauliflower. It has…

How long have you been LC? The first week I was horribly depressed. The second week was better. I'm half way through week three, and I'm perking up. I've been very surprised to learn how dependant I was on carbs and sugar for an emotional boost. Not getting that constant positive boost from pasta and sugary drinks has been…

If you can tolerate them, I'd add starchy veg to the menu: potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams, green peas, etc.

Subtracting fibre, I'm at around 30g average a day for the past week. I had 84 grams on Wednesday, but my other days are less than 30 (once fibre is subtracted). I want to stay under 50. Wednesday I had a piece of my son's birthday cake (which was a stupid thing to do).

Wow. Where do I start? Lol. Note that I am on a low-carb paleo/primal hybrid diet. It is almost a full elimination diet, but I can still eat high fat dairy. My NSVs will most certainly reflect this. My disordered eating has been resolved. I now see food as fuel, and I don't binge, eat for comfort, or eat out of boredom…

I know it can be a bit distressing when the scale goes up instead of down. You have a lot to lose, so you'll lose quite fast compared to people who don't have as much to lose, so that could certainly compound the distress. Providing you're logging correctly (using a scale and logging everything), you don't have anything to…

Well . . . there's nothing wrong with a little flirting to put some bounce in your step. :)

I'm shocked by some of what I'm reading here! Where on the planet is it acceptable behaviour for cashiers and bag boys to make what could be construed as judgmental comments on what people are buying???!!!

For nearly 15 years people have debated my diet and my weight with me. Funny thing is, they all stopped debating things with me earlier this year when I gained the first of the 45 pounds I gained this year. Yes. I gained 45 pounds in the first eight months of 2015. Suddenly I looked like them, and I was eating like them.…

@tsazani . . . I've read up on them now too . . . I want midichlorian growth! Err . . . mitochondria. Whoever understands that reference must "friend" me. ;) 38 more sleeps! @wabmester . . . That was a truly fascinating read. Thank you for sharing. A trip to the lab might be in my future. :) @GaleHawkins . . . I will keep…

You're misunderstanding how the percentages interact with each other. As you lose fat your percentage of lean muscle mass will increase: providing you don't lose muscle along with the fat (or lose a significant amount of muscle). Your new fitness regime (including lifting) is preserving your muscle mass this time. An…

Thanks, @wabmester. I'm trying to become fat-adapted to work off the spare tire of blubber that has found it's way to my midsection and to stabilize my blood sugar levels. My physician has put me on a no grain, no starch, no added sugar, no legumes, no beans, limited fruit, low carb, only high fat dairy diet. He is NOT…

My favourite is the 89% by Giddy Yoyo. I also like the 85% organic, fair trade, dark chocolate by Theo. I've started having 1/8 of a bar along with my yogurt (plain, 11% fat) and berries. Sometimes I grate the chocolate on top. Sometimes I dip the chocolate in the yogurt. It does make my carbs a smidge to high, though. I…
