If you're a guy and have trouble with 2,500 calories, you seriously need to put your big boy pants on.

Go check out Layne Norton on YouTube. He has so many tips and charts showing the best way to reverse diet. Some of his clients are unbelievable.

Try slowly increasing your calories and see what that does. I really also have a feeling you're just not eating enough.
-
Absolutely! At 2k, you should be able to get what you need. Multi's are great to keep your vitamins and minerals up, but I never noticed them to curb my appetite.

Beer... duh.

Food and drinking are going to react different to everyone. Just because he does something, doesn't mean it's going to have the same result with you. This whole journey has been a lifestyle change. Not something I do just to keep my weight in check.

I do about a gallon and a half to 2 gallons a day.

Probably the most used piece of cardio equipment at the gym. Everyone seems to love it.
-
I love knocking out my workouts at 5am. I usually do weight training for about an hour, then some HIIT cardio for 15-20 minutes. After work (around 5pm) I just take the dog for a walk for some extra exercise. I've honestly just gotten used to getting up that early. Coffee and caffeine does wonders :)

This is what I'm waiting for also!

At 128lbs., and want to gain weight/muscle, you need to eat excess calories. I'd put away the junk though, and focus on better choices. Also, I'd do weight training opposed to HIIT cardio for muscle building. Train, eat, TRACK and tweak as you see fit. Trust me, you sound like you're just making excuses for not tracking…

Everyone is going to burn a different amount depending on intensity, rep range, age, weight, etc.

Much more willpower than me. I didn't even bother tracking my foods yesterday. I was bad :(
-
My thoughts exactly. It all comes down to how bad you want the weight loss. You're young, you can easily do it w/o surgery.

Akron, OH here!
-
Congrats on the success! 130lbs is quite an accomplishment.
-
I didn't even bother tracking yesterday. Back on the grind today though.

I'm up at about 4:30, breakfast around 5am, and gym at 5:30. Every day. I just don't like working out after work, because I'm drained by 5pm. Bed by 9:30-10pm. Repeat. I've gotten used to it, and I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

I try and get outside as much as I can (for running), but I always hit up the treadmill every day. I never run on the treadmill, but just do a 3.5 pace at a 10% incline for 20-30 minutes.

This is what I would do. As someone who used to stick to a "meal plan," it got boring fast. Once I started tracking macros and having more variety of foods, it became fun. For someone starting out (like your friend), it sounds like this would be a better plan that someone would stick to.

Cookies n' Cream and Apple Pie are my favorites! I try and limit them due to the price, but they're good when I need a grab n' go snack.

I used to do: Monday and Tuesday: Low Carbs Wednesday: Medium Carbs Thursday and Friday: Low Carbs Saturday: High Carbs Sunday: Medium Carbs I would actually keep my calories consistent throughout the week. There's so many variations, and finding what works best with you is the key.

No worries. I actually never looked at myself as "overweight" until I saw pictures. Then I just came to realize the truth. I started and never looked back. It's been a fun journey overall. You're brother-in-law sounds like a good man!

I always weigh it cooked
-
Not even bothering logging it. My family will think I'm a nutcase weighing all my portions out. I'm going to get some cardio in first thing in the morning, and enjoy the day.
-
I had a good experience with carb cycling last year. It was a bit of a challenge to get used to, figuring out my macros for each day of the week. Once I got used to it, I really enjoyed the results. Give it a shot. It's a great way to get some variety in.
-
Appreciate it (both of you). My energy levels are through the roof! My confidence also sky-rocketed.
-
Some funny stuff in this thread! nosajjao would hate me when I carb-backload. LOL

Nothing is mandatory. If you want to go to the gym, but feel intimidated, find a buddy to go with you.

I tried Visalus for a bit. Worst idea ever. What bugged me the most is that the guy that sells it, is actually an old friend of mine. It's safe to say I won't rely on him anymore for any nutritional advice. The shakes were terrible, they made me go the bathroom every hour, and worst of all, they cost a fortune per month.…
