  • I don't like meat either. So I don't eat it. It does sound like you tend to like a lot of the starchy carbs, and you say they left you feeling tired and blah. Let me ask you this... when you were eating that way, did you pay attention to how much protein you were eating? What if I told you that it's possible to tweak your…
  • I'm not so sure any more. I seem to need a combination of protein and carbs. Fat in just the minimal amount necessary for health. That's these days. It used to be different, so it might change again. The exception to this is popcorn. A bowl of that will keep me full for a long time.
  • The TED talk was an actual archaelogist commenting on dietary content in context. Your link? Notsomuch.
  • Well, I did it back when it first came out and I didn't lose anything. I think if it works for you, that's great. If I had been able, back then, to track calories, I'd likely have had some success. My problem was simply consuming too many calories in that reward meal.
  • If I wanted whites to stretch my eggs, I'd buy them in the carton. I eat the whole egg when I eat eggs, though. I love the yolks. My favorite is poached eggs over Brussels sprouts hash.
  • I tried that diet years ago when the book first came out. I think if it works for you, it's great. As long as you're still paying attention to calories. My problem at the time? I thought it was magic and wasn't paying attention to calories. Needless to say, I didn't lose weight. I managed to pack away a lot of calories in…
  • Words, words, words. You pretty much said nothing. Let's get back on track. Can you answer Evgeni's question? It was a good one. It would provide the sort of knowledge the OP is looking for. I'll give you a hint. I can answer it. In ballpark figures. But I'll wait for those of you to whom it seems to matter to come up with…
  • Nah, I eat all the dairy.
  • No they weren't. Because it's a stupid analogy. Projected linear application of the 3500 calorie rule in THEORY is different than what would actually happen. He misspoke in the lecture. What's the purpose of singling me out for this? I'm flattered you remembered a post of mine from that long ago.
  • Am I allowed to eat popcorn while I wait for the answer to a keto question?
  • What a busy, busy bot.
  • If you hadn't shown up, I was going to Beetlejuice you in here. I couldn't find those links last night.
  • Gosh, you couldn't be more arrogantly wrong. Knowledge is good. Knowledge is great. No one is trying to mute blambo. We're only trying to tell him he's barking up the wrong tree in his pursuit of knowledge. Your presumption of limited knowledge here just shows how limited yours is.
  • Yup. It's all theory. Because... well, if I said what I was really thinking I don't think the mods would like it.
  • You were burning more than you were eating. Simple.
  • Here, watch these if you think people are so different. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KA9AdlhB18o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTr1JUvEiUU
  • What she said doesn't hold up. It's not a new story around these parts. And it's not true. There's very little (not even statistically significant) individual variation. There are no naturally "thin" or "thick" people.
  • You are not the first person to make these sorts of comparisons/assertions. Most of the time, assessments like these, were they to be actually scientifically scrutinized, don't bear up. Recalls of seriously low dietary intake like your 800-1000 calories? I could, if I were so inclined right now, pull up all sorts of facts…
  • I have psoriatic arthritis and I'm 53. When I first was diagnosed, it was a wake up call. I was walking with a cane and horribly fatigued. I walked, with my cane, down to the corner. I did it again the next day. I kept walking. I eventually walked further and didn't need my cane any more. I took things very slowly and…
  • How do you think people lose/gain/maintain weight?
  • Give some practical suggestions, then. You are the one who wants to bring more to the table. Well, bring it. What do you think this break-through in math will do for the person struggling?
  • Bob's Red Mill has gluten free oats in quick, rolled, and steel-cut, and if you like instant packets, I recently saw Quaker had GF oats. If you're near a Trader Joe's, they also have GF rolled oats.
  • Try looking up baked oatmeal recipes. They're more cake-like.
  • Read between the lines, it's a lot easier. What he's really saying is quite easy to understand and has been from the very first post he made on the other thread.
  • Bears repeating. If you want something else to take on board, here are my thoughts. OP, You are reducing this to a matter of physical and mathematical functions, and I can tell you right now that food is a much more complicated subject than that. We all have a relationship with food, and for those of us who have become…
  • There are much more practical suggestions for developing a healthy lifetstyle and relationship with food than obsessing over formulating a mathematical model to explain what even the most advanced scientists haven't yet been able to explain. CICO in the absolute sense has not even been able to be calculated by top…
  • I'm with you, K. Hypothyroidism, menopause, no appendix (what? that's an issue?)... so what? Chronic migraines and psoriatic arthritis making it difficult to exercise consistently... I ate less, moved more and lost weight. It does not matter that it's not linear. It does not matter that 3500/calories per pound works as…
  • I'm not seeing where these supposed nuances of difference are supposed to be helpful. Can we have some practical information illustrating your point instead of yet another post telling us how non-linear CICO is? I said it in the last thread, you are majoring in the minors and none of this means one whit in the face of…
  • So much this. Be kind to yourself right now, and don't add stress to your already stressful situation worrying about your weight. I am so sorry you are going through all this.
