Everyone needs to find what works best for them. For some people this is daily weighing, for some this is weekly, for others it's monthly. The most important thing is that regular weight monitoring is happening. I personally prefer to weigh daily because the fluctuations have just become meaningless. I used to have a…

I don't feel any different after eating something sugary. I used to. I'd get jittery then crash. Or at least think I did. This is all retrospective. I'm not sure what the difference between now and then is.

Here you go, J! Use Kerry Gold. I think I'm going to brown the butter when I make it this year for a little extra something. http://blog.kathrynmcgowan.com/2010/06/07/scottish-shortbread-gluten-free-baking-ahead-of-its-time/

I'm on a diet break right now and have been eating my Fitbit. I'm maintaining my weigh just fine. I even had a small loss. When I'm losing, I use my Fitbit to calculate my TDEE and work my deficit from there.

I want your pancake recipe! I have oat flour on hand, it's my preferred gluten free flour of choice. I'm making shortbread with it for Christmas. FTR, original Scottish shortbread was made with oat flour!

I'm somewhere in the middle of both of these groups, depending on the day. Some days it might be more veggies, on another day, it might be the tortillas.

Okay. I have to try the poached egg. That sounds wonderful.

^Truth. I love this post.

Thanks for posting the follow up, very interesting.

I need to try this.

Do you know about peeling it with a spoon? I used to hate peeling it until I learned to peel it that way. Just scrape the edge of the bowl of a spoon along the surface, the peel comes right off.

I really don't think you understand hypothyroidism properly. There are long-term implications for your health to leaving it untreated. You're putting yourself at the risk of heart disease and depression, for starters. Yes, having a bad thyroid means needing to take a pill for the rest of your life. Deal with it.

Short term study I take it? Long term studies usually show about the same rate of loss over time on both ways of eating.

My daughter and I are vegetarians. My son and husband aren't. I have celiac disease. The rest of my family doesn't. Sometimes this does mean that we're eating different things. It would be wrong of me to force a solely vegetarian diet on everyone, and sometimes, the kids just want ravioli and I don't think it's too much…

I cut way back on the lowfat half and half I had been using, and if push came to shove, I could eliminate it entirely. I've gone without it before when I had a day when I had some dietary restrictions for medical reasons. I add liquid sucralose, but that doesn't add any calories. I couldn't live without my coffee, though.

I fill up on what I'm "supposed" to eat AND have cookies. I've eaten cookies almost every day for months now. I just eat a reasonable portion of them. I have celiac disease, so the joys of lots of Christmas cookies are a thing of the past. I haven't found it worth the trouble to make multiple batches of gluten free cookies…

I only buy the quart size, so yup. I can't find the full fat version, just the 2%.

I don't find eggs by themselves all filling either. I usually scramble 2 eggs with 113 grams of cottage cheese and a bunch of spinach. That's about 300 calories. The cottage cheese gives the whole dish more protein and makes it more filling. I need to cook it longer to cook out the liquid in the cottage cheese, but it…

I take shots for my arthritis too. And I discussed my exercise plan with my doctor. I'd suggest you do the same. I personally am a big fan of warm showers, but I need one before exercising. I get stiff from inactivity. Moving around helps my joints. Do you have RA? That might be different than my condition, I have…

That cravings chart... I can't even. And I'm sorry, that picture with PMS is pretty offensive.

I started sleeping nekkid.

Finding full fat Greek yogurt in a supermarket around here is kind of like spotting a unicorn. I think I saw it once out of the corner of my eye. I'd love to try it.

More power to those of you who can handle the shirataki noodles. I don't know how you do it. Like amusedmonkey, I stretch my pasta servings with zucchini noodles or other vegetables. I'm not really big on substitutes. I mean, I like and have made cauliflower fried rice, but to me, it's a cauliflower dish and a good way to…

Ah bless. You signed up to misconstrue what rabbit said and type this out. I'm sure she'll feel flattered when she sees this.

Neither do I. I think, like SLLRunner, my bad cravings in the past were tied to denial. Now that I allow myself to eat what I'd like? Well, I get a "taste" for things, or feel like having them, but I wouldn't call it a craving compared to what I used to experience.

Thirding this.

Can't I watch Downton Abbey and have sex? Not at the same time, mind. I do love me some Maggie Smith.

Fage 2% plain for me. I add things to it, but a while back when I was hospitalized for a week, I snacked on it plain. I like it just fine with nothing in it.

I used to make this recipe where I roasted a chicken for 5-6 hours on a really low temperature. Oh dear, when I ate meat, that thing was just perfect, but that's not why I'm telling this story  If I could have figured out a way to have masses of chicken wings come out like the wings on a bird cooked that way came…

Anyone on a caloric deficit should focus on getting a minimum of .65g per pound of bodyweight in protein daily in order to preserve muscle mass.
