Recruit love ones to eat healthy and workout with you...so you're not alone. Plus, if you get your kids involved, hopefully they will have better eating/exercising habits when they get older.

If you can't do a regular push-up and your knees hurt with the modified push-ups...why don't you try the standing wall push-ups? You'll still work your triceps (as long as you do the moves correctly) and eventually you should be able to build enough strength to do the regular one. LINK:…

I don't think I'm going to reach my goal...but I'm getting very close!

If your comfortable using the elliptical, use it. It is working for you. Everyone is built differently, have their own preferences, and have a different set of physical conditions/limitations. I know my husband prefers the elliptical because both of his knees are bad now (21 yrs in the USMC) and the elliptical is the best…

I'm glad you're serious and you are going to lose weight for you. That's the most important thing, really. If your RL friends can't understand, well...that's their issue. We will be here to support you throughout your journey. That being said, like williamwj2014 said, it is not going to be easy. Yoga is one form of…

What the heck, I will try this. Don't know if I can lose 12 pounds or not...but I will give it a whirl. :p

Me!! I'll join you! I had to restart because I did a crazy run on the sand and it killed my legs! I restarted today. So day 1, level 1 complete :)

You can do it! Just stay motivated and don't starve yourself. Like everyone is saying, do what you are doing now because it IS working for you. ;)

I'm not an expert. Here is an article I found: LINK It might provide some insight.

Eating just salads. Fell off that diet within a matter of days. I can't just eat leafy greens. I felt like I was starving myself to death.

Way to go!! Congrats!!! You look AWESOME and BEAUTIFUL!!!

I generally work out first thing after I wake up. So, my breakfast is a protein shake mixed in with my daily vitamin powder. After the workout, I eat a banana or some other fruit, 1/2 serving of protein shake, and/or a couple of hard boiled eggs. Lunch is only a couple of hours away and I am generally not that hungry after…

I just got a TomTom Cardio runner. It has Gps, HRM, pace count, and time. I like it. It was hard trying to find one that did GPS and HRM. I like it because it syncs with MapMyRun (which then sync to MFP for me). It's pretty pricey though :(

I say just go for it!!! Who cares what other people think. It's not like you know them or are even accountable to them. If I see anyone running, I always give them props....because they are out there doing it and not thinking about it. As to being embarrassed, you may get a little self-conscious, but that's…

I like the punching bag/heavy bag. It's fun and you don't have to spend a long time at it before your energy is depleted. But if you get really into it...it's like a total body workout! But when I'm mad/stressed...long walks on the beach/neighborhood. Somehow a change of scenery really helped me.

I say do the elliptical at a low intensity. I sometimes stream movies while I'm on the elliptical. Keeps me distracted for a good half hour. Have fun!

Good luck!!!!!

This is entirely up to you. You need to find out what works for you. For me...I take a protein shake about an hour before I run and 1/2 an hour before I do regular weights. If it's a hard workout, I will do another protein shake for muscle recovery purposes. I can't workout on an empty stomach. I need that little pick of…

I honestly didn't run that much until the last few months. I started slow and ran/walked a mile. Then I would build up from there. Don't worry about your speed...it will eventually come. But I alternated my cardio with the elliptical as well. I would stream movies and watched them on the elliptical on the days I didn't…

I bought the TomTom Cardio Runner because I wanted to track my distance, time, run pace, and HR. It was really important for me for the distance since I'm training for a half-marathon and two full marathons within the next 6 months. I like it a lot and it syncs to MapMyRun (which then Syncs to MFP). I would love to have…

^^ agree. I eat more protein and never hit the carb recommendation. You might try reducing the fat, unless it's good fats.

@mychocolatedier -- I LOVE WHERE WE LIVE!!!! That being said, when we go to places like the zoo or Legoland, my kids pack their own lunches/snacks..and I pack mine too. Gives me a chance to have good heathy eating habits discussions with them. I don't want them to go through what I'm going through when they get older.

I live in SoCal too. When my kids are at home, we make mommy and kids play dates. Basically, I plan on walking my kids to the park, and as they play, I'm running laps around the playground area (so I always have my eyes on them. We also have a bike trail that leads to the beach. So my 2 older girls bike and I jog (slowly).…

I hide all of the bad yummy food. Make sure I have low-calorie, but healthy snacks laying around. And I drink a lot of water. If I get too hungry, I grab a protein shake and then I hit the gym. It serves as a distraction for me and I love hanging out in the spa and sauna after a long workout

It happens. Don't worry about it. Just get up, shake yourself off, and try again. Remember, you are human...so mistakes do happen. Eventually, eating right and making smart decisions will be like second nature. You. Can. Do. This!!! Besides it's about 3500 calories to either gain or lose weight...so think of it in a…

I know what you mean! My hubby is 42 with an almost 6 year old son. He can barely keep up. He's not fat or anything... Just a tad overweight...but I've noticed how his energy level has drastically dropped since he added on 20 lbs. All 3 of our kids notice too. They know that when mommy exercises and eats right....he has…

Totally agree with you there! My kids and hubby know the difference as well. For my kids, when mommy is fit and healthy, she has more energy to play with them and spend time with them.

Good luck!!!
