  • The weird feeling gets better, so stick with it. I found when I first started that I stopped snacking as taking out the trays, cleaning my teeth etc was too much of a hassle. Over time you quickly fall back into old habits though...
  • What about individual mini quiches, or you can’t get more British than cheese and pineapple on a cocktail stick! Butterfly cakes?
  • I’ve been vegan for 20 years. My food diary is open (I think!). My goal is to lose about 12Ibs, but also to focus on living well.
  • It’s easy to say eat whatever you always eat, just less of it. That works. But if you’re like me it would leave you really hungry. For me I have to rethink what I am eating as well as how much so that I am not starving! I’m vegan and don’t like salad or lots of vegetables - that makes me pretty picky. If I were you I’d…
  • If you want to loose weight then focus on what you’re eating. Run/exercise because it’s good for your health. I run, but I don’t find it has any positive impact on weight loss, that for me at least is all about what I’m eating.
  • I agree with what other posters have said - start slowly, take rest days, warm up and stretch. What you eat will have more impact on you weight than exercise will. But exercise is great for health and happiness, so keep at it. I used to do Zumba a lot and when I started my knees were agony. Then some one suggested I get…
  • I was a real fan of the Microsoft Band and bought two before they stopped making them. When it broke it looked around and got the Samsung equivalent. I really didn’t like it so I returned it and bought the Apple Watch. I had resisted buying the Apple Watch because it is more expensive and seemed unnecessary, but now I have…
  • Don’t feel pressured to do the pushups etc. half the time I don’t! I’m not that co-ordinated and would rather put effort into the cycling element. Also if you’ve only just started going remember you have to build up stamina and master the basics first. Every cycling class I’ve been to they’ve always said work at the level…
  • I also struggle at conferences. I’m a vegan, I’m a volume eater and I don’t eat salad - which somehow seems to make things complicated! If you like Salad, tell them you’re vegan. You’ll get loads of salad and calories-wise you pretty much can’t go wrong then. I don't like salad so that doesn’t work for me. My approach is…
  • I’ve never been to Cyclebar but I do go to SoulCycle and that is the same. I used to go to spinning classes at my gym and that really focused on resistance with hills to climb and so on. At SoulCycle there is none of that, they don’t even talk about resistance. SoulCycle is all very fast with lots of pushups and touch…
  • I’m 13lb away from my goal, fell free to add me. Encouragement is a great support!!
  • A year ago I was living on a tight budget while I wasn’t working. My goal was to limit my weekly spend to $60 a week for me and hubby including detergents and toiletries. I’m vegan and hubby isn’t. First I tried coupons but I gave that up quick as I found that coupons were for big brands which cost more than store brands…
  • I second what everyone says about not changing yourself for other people, but if you want to make changes for you then go for it. Laser hair removal is amazing. If you permanently don’t want a hairy back, or anywhere else then get it lazered. It’s pretty much pain free and done in around 10 sessions plus you can shave in…
  • Sorry to hear that work is stressful right now. I find that it’s easier to stay calm under pressure when you feel like you have the rest of your world under control. Don’t panic, we all fall of the wagon. Now you’re ready to get back to it try to keep your routines. If you go to the gym, go even when work is crazy, taking…
  • I am also trying to learn to love running too. In Jan 2017 I started C25K and in March ran a 5k in 28 minutes - it’s hardly a record but I was super proud of myself! Then I just stopped which was a shame because I had really worked hard to achieve that goal. Now I am back at it. Started C210k at the beginning last week…
  • Yes, I love freeze dried fruit! So sweet but so few calories!
  • Do you just eat it out of the bag, as is? I read you could rehydrate it, is that good?
  • I’m a member of YouFit. I joined because it was right by my house and ridiculously cheap ($11 a month!) I thought it would be awful because it was so inexpensive but it turned out to be fantastic! I’ve never seen people cleaning so frequently and the equipment was all new as it was a newly opened location. Even better they…
  • I only had a personal trainer once. Bought a package of sessions through my gym because I wanted to incorporate weights and had no idea where to start. Various trainers were late or didn’t show up for sessions. Most seemed bored. One pushed me so hard I tore a muscle in my leg, disaster! I was in agony for weeks. That was…
  • I’ll assume 1300 is a reasonable goal for you - mine is 1200 and that is perfectly reasonable for me. My question would be, what are you eatting? It is true that when you’re calorie counting you can eat anything you like, provided you stick to your calorie goal. That means you can eat cake and cookies if you want, but if…
  • You can’t go wrong if calories in are less than calories out. It’s simple in principle but hard in practice. Weigh everything you intend to eat. Log it. Know what your calorie goal is and aim to stay inside it. Sometimes you’ll fall off the wagon. When you do get straight back on it. One wobble isn’t the end of the world.…
  • Soup. I love it! Make it yourself and it’s a really cheap, low calorie meal. Buy it in a can and is quick, easy and healthy (avoid creamy or high sugar - there are low sodium options too if that’s a concern for you).
  • I am aiming for 1200 and, when I’m focused on the choices I’m making I never feel hungry. Everyone is different so you’ll have to experiment a bit to what satisfies you. I personally like to eat a big evening meal. I allocate 600 for dinner and I eat a mountain of veggies. My plate is piled high. I’ll make an oriental…
  • I recently got Invisalign braces and a happy impact is I have stopped snacking completely. Taking the Aligners out to snack is just too much effort as you have to clean your teeth every time I don’t suggest you get Invisalign to stop snacking, but it has shown me that I don’t need to snack which I would have previously…
  • Try soup. I have soup for lunch most days - every day at work. I take in canned soup, it’s healthy and nutritious, just be sure to read the label and avoid anything creamy or with los of sugars. I’m a vegan so usually opt for pea and barley or black bean. A can of soup is about 300 calories, low cost, filling and easy.
  • I’m 5ft2. I’m 130lb and my goal is 110lb. It’s been a crazy year, new job. Fell back into bad habits and put in 20 lbs! Back on the wagon now and would love some friends!
  • I’m aiming for 1200 as well, I’m 5ft2 so maintenance is only about 1450 for me. I eat mountains of vegetables! Add me as s friend my diary is open.
  • My desk draw is full of canned soup. For me that’s perfect - always available, low calorie, low fat, fills me up and easy to count the calories.
  • I love hearts of palm. I eat them all the time - pretty much every day. I add them to dishes to bulk them up with few calories. I’ve been eating them this way for 3 years with no ill effects. I also do the same with canned artichoke hearts, but they’re expensive too.
