  • I binge when I'm bored. If I have something to keep me opcupied or a project to work on I only eat when I'm hungry. So those evening TV shows equal lots of snaking. Which scares me because I'm retiring in December. I have to either find a lot of projects or get a hobby quick. Any suggetions?
  • I'm a lifetime member of WW, that is long in the rearview mirror. I did have success back in the day with them, mid-1990's. But the rules change so often and the price if you are over goal is rediculous. I've been a member of MFP for a long time as well and have had some success with it. It all depends on how dedicated you…
  • I just Googled it and there is nothing good about it. I'll share the link if your interested in the read. What blew me away is that it actually makes you gain weight because of how your body assimilate it. Ugh! I'll stick with water. http://www.today.com/health/diet-soda-doing-these-7-awful-things-your-body-1C6558748
  • JeromeBerry1, I saw they had a blog section, but I enjoy putting the old pen to paper method. There's a certain satisfaction I get from writing it out. And I like that my journal is more "diary" like in that I'm not sharing it with the world. I know on FB there's enough "sharing". LOL! But that's just me. Everyone is…
  • 62 here. And like many of you I have toggled back and forth with Weight Watchers. I just can't see me paying the dues anymore when I have everything here that I need. I think I've done better with MFP personally. I've played with the same 20 lbs for years. I'll loose it then find it again. Grrr!!! I've made a decision that…
  • I gave them up 32 years ago and it wasn't easy. Some people can go cold turkey while others can not. You know your habits and addictions better than anyone. If you need some professional help, the American Cancer Society can help you with sensation classes that assists you to help 'wean' you off nicotine. People who quit…
  • Good job on keeping up with the water. I might suggest staying clear of diet soda, while it doesn't contain sugar it does have properties that will increase your appetite and gain belly fat. Ugh! Staying at the 2000 calorie mark is a little tougher. I've always used the mantra, "Write it before you bite it." Check the…
  • I just purchased the Fitbit Charge 2. It has really been a help getting me up and moving with the reminders. It's like my own personal "shock collar" for activity.
  • This is the difference between Total Calorie Burn (TCB) and Net Calorie Burn (NCB). TCB is the number of calories that you burn by just living…breathing, heart beating, etc. Even if you were just sitting on the sofa all day. NCB is the calories burned during exercise. There is a formula to determine the difference.…
  • Kudos to you for maintaining your loss for so long! I'm waiting for the day I can say that. :) You must have the upgraded version of MFP. When I add my work-out calorie burn it automatically ups my daily calorie count. So my day went from 1200 calories to sometimes over 3000 calories. YIKES!!! Eating that much is how I got…
  • Good idea Veryana! I forgot about the scale. Another useful tool. I've always told my students that you have to have the right tools to do the job. You wouldn't use a shoe to hammer a nail into a 2x4. The right tools make all the difference. Thanks for reminding me to get my food scale in my weight loss tool box. :)
  • I like slow cooker meals that I can create a few dinners with. Try "Slender Kitchen" website, they have some fabulous recipes. I also make a menu for the week and only shop for items I'll need for each week. Chop, clean and prep what you can on the shopping day makes life a lot easier for the week. And bonus, you don't…
  • Hi LuciaB1967, I too am a lifetime member of WW. (I'm 8 lbs over goal so I pay) There program does work but has gotten so stinking expensive that it is no longer in my budget. Fruits and veggies do have calories and must be accounted for. As in WW, they are zero points, but only to a limit. You can't eat a pound of grapes…
  • Hello ladies, I'm fairly new so posting but thought this thread might be the one for me. 50+. I've set out a few goals for June as well. Getting to the gym at least 5 times a week No drive through food at all...ever Track every day Plan my meals for the week and only shop for what's on the list Bridget in Ks down 25, 13 to…
  • BTW, how do I add someone as a friend?
  • It made me kind of sad to quit because I had made some really good friends at the meetings. But I've been very good about tracking my food and exercise with MFP and it seems to be doing just as well for me. Has anyone upgraded to the premium grade here? Just wondering if it is worth the cost. Not that $50 for a year is bad…
  • Happy Mothers Day to all. Hello, I'm new here...MFP and this thread. I just dropped my membership to Weight Watchers and now looking for a new support group. I found this thread as it said for women 50+. That would be me. LOL! From what I've read so far you all sound like a wonderful group of women that I would like to…
  • Yes, friends please! I'm relatively new to the site.
  • I agree that deprivation is a setup for failure. Cold turkey doesn't work for most of us. Moderation is the key to success. If I'm craving chocolate then one bite size piece sends the message to my brain and I'm happy and done. Twenty bites sends a message to my hips that I'm going up a pant size.
