It must have taken couple of months, but I know it is a permanent habit for me now because I just keep logging like second nature, I don't even know my logging streak...(had a look, its 571).

Weigh your food, count your calories.

I too,eat more carefree on sundays, more sodium and such. But I weigh myself in the morning before "the damage" is done.

When starting out, you don't need to make too drastic a change. Pick a number to begin with, say if 10x your weight in lbs as calories is to be maintenance( totaly guestimate but all TDEE formulas are anyway), start with 8x and eat that amount. So if you were 200 lbs, 1600 calories would be your initial calorie goal. Keep…

TDEE is Total Daily Energy Expenditure. It includes everything you do in a day, exercise too. So if you follow TDEE to lose weight and you get 2188 calories as your TDEE, you will have to subtract your daily deficit from that number and not eat back any exercise burn because it is already included.

67. You are better at managing your calorie spending than your money.

Works like a charm.

I lost 65 lbs before anyone commented.

I would advice using your own data to figure out your calorie goals. You should have enough data to reach a reasonable number. Use that number and use TDEE method (don't rely on exercise burn). After 4 weeks, evaluate your results and make adjustments accordingly.

I have lost 68 lbs in 5 months.

Thank you Rachelle for your support.

If you have ben losing your weight since Jan, then for the duration of 4 months your loss rate is 6 lbs a month, which puts you at 700-750 deficit, meaning your maintenance calories shold be around 1900 calories.

I work at my own pizza place and have gained about 50 lbs starting out( in 2 years). But about 5 months ago, decided to lose weight and have lost 70 lbs to date still working with pizza. It has been really easy actually having a kitchen at my disposal at work, I can cook or make whatever I want to aid my weight loss; so it…

That is some dedication. I hope to reach similar numbers, you are an inspiration.

Daily logger, add me.

If you have been logging your food intake and changes to your weight diligently since August, you should have enough data to draw your maintenance calories from them. I would calculate the amount of calories required to maintain from all the data at hand, jump up halfway first to adjust, and then slowly (month by month)…

I have passed the 60 lbs lost mark too, I'll keep on going though, still some road to cover.

Leaning into the Smug side, I find it really easy and enjoyable.

I had no idea about counting calories. I started dieting, eating veg and chicken and such and I was looking for an app to track my weight and stumbled luckily upon MFP.

I started back in November with this summer(my July holiday) in mind and that has been the inspiration all along. Set smaller goals if you are feeling overwhelmed.

How does meal timing come into play?

I would suggest going the TDEE route. In my experience that gives me way more calories to eat without worries about eating back calories and get the same weight loss results. That way you can have room to adjust after some time depending on the results you get.
