  • Been in depressed state for quite some time this past year; weight's up; feeling frustrated and angry with myself. Trying to get back on track with respect to diet, walking, feeling good about me, etc. It's a long haul back to a weight where I'm comfortable but I'm willing to put in the effort. I know that the depression…
  • I love my FitBit Flex and have collected many different coloured bands to match my outfits or my mood. I measure my steps, my sleep hours/efficiency, set hours for insulin and meals, synced with MFP (My Fitness Pal) and computer/cell phone etc. (bluetooth friendly app available). Mid-range in FitBit cost and FitBit is…
  • A little bit of white wine and melted cheddar cheese.
  • I've learned how important it is to actually read the ingredients labels as well as the nutrition information on packaged deli meats. If you must have deli, try purchasing directly from butcher shops --- might be more expensive, but maybe less sodium???
  • I just turned 60 almost a year ago (just realized how close to 61 I am now). I'm writing from not so sunny Ontario, Canada where it's -5*Celsius (don't know what it is in Fahrenheit but it's nowhere near 70F that much I know for sure). Broke my kneecap in 1996 while trying to walk on a wet floor that hubby had just washed…
  • I like my FitBit FLEX ---- find it very accurate when it measures my steps and my sleep.
  • I've discovered that tea --- my old pal ---- still tastes good to me (I sweeten it with Splenda and add lemon)!!! It's a great pick-me-up and a great accompaniment or finish to a meal. It's often the only "water" I drink as I've somehow lost the taste for water unless it's "Nestle Splash" or similar. When I was a lot…
  • @gettingold2015: Just viewed your profile --- you're not getting old. I'm 60 and you can add me if you'd like.
  • Baby carrots are low cal and tasty. Cucumber slices, too. Apples, pears, peaches, etc in moderation.
  • Wow!!!! You all provided great ideas for snacks. I would also add baby carrots --- low cal and yummy!!!! I share them with my husband and my dogs (vet said they're great snacks/treats for dogs because they're low cal).

  • @sk1nnyf0rm3: I've discovered that Splenda is a great substitute for processed sugar. Because I'm a diabetic, I'm also using Glucerna products (both in liquid format and nutrition bars) --- you could try Boost or Ensure products instead to guarantee you get your nutrients without the excessive sugar intake. I would also…

  • Hi, Frostyswife: I'm 60 and weigh in at 198 --- hoping to lose 50 pounds over the year; taking it slowly. MFP also has me at about 1200 to 1300 calories and I'm trying to meet these numbers. It's difficult sometimes. I often have only two meals a day because I tend to sleep late --- that's when I find MFP's calorie…
  • Just FYI --- sleep mode tracker results are quite enlightening if you have trouble sleeping; useful for your doctor too.
  • Hi, Valerie. Just writing to wish you good luck. I'm just starting myself and trying to figure it all out. Want to sync this programme with my FitBit Flex tracker as well.

  • Just started wearing my fuchsia flex three days ago. Love to see the lights flashing everytime I reach 5,000 steps. Just joined MFP ..... looking forward to successful weightloss and improved sleep.
