My mom is the one to push food. When we were growing up it wasn't that much of a problem because we didn't have that much. But now, when we go visit, there is an abundance of food and my husband constantly has a problem with finishing the portions, not me though.

In the book, she talks about stopping half way through the meal and take an assessment. I kept doing that last night when we were out to dinner. And throughout the meal, but the point of the last bite never came until I was finished with the entire meal.
-
Wow. I saw myself in some of your description of the naturally fat kid.
-
That's interesting. Growing up, I ate what we had, which wasn't much at times and wasn't overweight. Only when I had access to more food did I eat more. I don't know if it's learned or what. I know though, that I can relearn and change my ways.
-
I think retraining is the key because right now I also eat fast. I have been learning to eat slower.
-
That's good to hear. I usually never leave foodon my plate. I have to also learn to just put enough on my plate to satisfy me.
-
Maybe I can start earlier, I have to think on this. I want to be also ready for the transition. You don't necessarily have to leave food on the plate, but I think that's part of the process.
-
I think where I went wrong before too is I didn't weigh myself everyday and I just let myself go. I won't let that happen again. I like your approach.
-
Yes, I'm going to have to see if it would work for me. Right now, I'm going well losing with counting, I don't want to mess that up. I'm also learning about how it feels to be hungry and full. So far, I go between ravenous and not really knowing if I'm full or not. I keep asking my husband when he eats, what number he is…

I think I will try your approach once I reach maintenance. For now, I think I will do both, because I don't trust myself yet. Growing up, I was never thin, but a nice solid figure. I always loved to eat. Once I hit my teenage years to the time I graduated college, I steadily gained wait. Then I lost 40 pounds and kept it…
-
Yes, that's what it means. Also, make sure you eat all the 1900 calories, plus half your exercise calories because you don't want to lose too quickly. 2 lbs a week is probably what you should be losing right now.

I drink a lots of water. More than the recommended 8 cups. Then lots of fruit. Apples and pears and others with fiber. Some days I might eat 3 apples. Soft bananas, not my favorite. Prunes. Warm prune juice. This one really works. Don't drink too much of it though. Fiber supplements. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids…

That's awesome! Also, eating high fiber foods might help you in a number of ways. Just make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids when you do that.

I was thinking about your fitbit burns, does that include your exercise on top of your 15,000 steps? If so, it might be correct. When I go swimming that adds another 3 or 400 calories onto my daily burn. So if you enter any exercise into MFP it will be reflected in fitbit if they are synched. Another thing, I have been…

I'm 5'7" and around 180 lbs. My fitbit tells me I burn around 2600 calories for 15,000 steps. Maybe the fitbit with hr monitor is givig you too high of a burn for the day. I have been steadily loosing weight relying on my fitbit. Although I don't eat all my exercise calories back.
-
I see. So at the end of the day at midnight, I should have the same exercise calories no matter what (accounting of course for the differences in goal calories between the two activity levels.
-
Thank you everyone. My weight dropped again today, so I have a new low as well as I'm under the next 10. I'm about mid way to my goal. Nice.
-
Like you said, I also have to weigh myself every day otherwise I think I would become lax. When I stopped weighing myself every day, that's when I started gaining weight this last time. I like seeing the data too.
-
Usually when I overeat my weight goes up not down. Probably because of sodium and more carbs.
-
Thanks, I will check out those groups.

I use nature throid. My doctor switched me to it when I told her that I was trying to lose weight. She told me it would help and I think it does. My regular pharmacy doesn't carry it so I get it in the mail from a close by pharmacy.
-
Maybe a should have posted this in fitness and exercise
-
I will check into it. Thanks
-
Yes, I saw that, but it's for younger kids. That is an option though.
-
Oh ok, I'll wait for fitbit get adjusted.
-
Oh, I thought they did. Thanks!
-
Okay, I set it back to the 3 heart rate zones and see what happens tomorrow.
-
I think my problem is that my heart rate goes up pretty quick even around the house and therefore gives me the wrong calorie burn. I tried to fiddle with the custom heart rate zone setting. But I'm not sure what to set it to and what it does. Yesterday my calorie burn was better, but I think it's still 1.5 times more than…

I see now. Thank You!
-
OK, thank you. I will try using it for a couple of weeks and see what happens.
