Hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday (or just an wonderful day in general if you don't celebrate Christmas). My daughter had an excellent day and said Santa brought her everything she wanted. I call that a win. My brother in law bought his wife and I an overnight trip to Vegas and is taking the kids with. Best gift…

I made it to the gym and seriously felt like I kicked *kitten*. It was one of the best workouts I can remember and just made me want to run back and do another. I am so pumped--and am completely convinced I needed that week off. And luckily now everyone seems to be getting over their colds. So it has been good all…

I love bison burgers as something to swap out beef with--I just wish the meat was not so expensive. Never have had Kangaroo, but I am not sure that would go over well in my household. I also found black bean burgers by morning star at my Costco that I love as a quick easy meal. I second the recommendations for Skinnytaste…

I haven't been to the gym all week. First, my daughter was sick (strep again!) and then the whole house was sick (minus daughter who was already on meds for strep). I thought I had caught the same thing but when all was said and done my symptoms ended up being different. I think my not-feeling-well came from over training.…

For apps with routines, I like Mark Lauren's Body Weight app based on his book You Are Your Own Gym. Walks me through the routine with videos and logs everything for me. But it is really only good if you want body weight routines. Weight lifting, I like the strong lifts 5X5 app but I haven't gotten anywhere near max or…

How much do you have to lose? The reason I ask is that it is possible that you had better results with Ripped in 30 because it was first and you had more room for improvement?

I was planning to do W5D3 today but my daughter got diagnosed with strep and I can't take her to the gym like that. :frowning: I am hoping to do it tomorrow but after this break I may do W5D2 one more time to have solid momentum to W5D3. I will see how I feel when I get to the gym tomorrow. Lazybuthealthy--So sorry to hear…

Best decision for me. My workout the next day was awesome--best I have felt in a couple of weeks. It is weird. I have read a lot about avoiding overtraining and it seems like it would seem so obvious that one is getting into the territory of overtraining. But when it is you (in this case me), it is easy to convince…

I forgot to post yesterday, but here is the info: Cardio: None Strength: Front Squat/Push Press: 40 lbs X 10 reps/40 lbs X 6 reps/30 lbs X 4 reps (I did not think I would be able to hold that 40 above my head another 4 times, and did not want to risk dropping it on myself. I will probably start with 40 again next time I do…

Congrats pmag! You are awesome! I truly don't know much about these meets but I admire you just for putting yourself out there and competing. I did stage two workout 1A again yesterday. It was awesome! I am hoping 1B goes better tomorrow so I can move forward. I also think I may add in some of Bret Contreras' at…

I think mapmyrun has some routes that have been done to make pictures of dogs or other items but typically on roads. They are much longer runs than my current level allows but one day I think it would be fun to do some of them.

Julie--I have never been much for cardio but coach to 5K has been a great experience for me and my trainer said my measurements related to cardiovasular health have improved since starting. So I recommend it. Ali--Hugs to you! I have already noticed my thighs getting better. Not great--not something I would show…

Today, I ended up completely resting. I think I needed it because even without a workout I am exhausted right now. Tomorrow morning gym time, and I am really excited about it.

that blog post was interesting. I haven't read anything by him before but I may check to see if I can find his book at the library. Thanks for sharing.

Ali--I am so sorry for your loss. Positive thoughts your way that everything in your home starts to work out for the better. Julie--LOL about mildly disliking your legs. I have always been okay with my calves which made it okay to wear capris or knee length skirts but anything shorter was out of the question. Maybe that…

Cardio: Not today Strength: You Are Your Own Gym Day 5 Back Lunges: Bodyweight 36 each leg in 7.5 minutes (met goal) One Legged Romanian Deadlifts: Bodyweight 30 each leg in 7.5 minutes (did not meet goal but I am starting to feel more confident with this one. Balance has never been my strong suit--but I am getting better)…

I used About Time Ve Protein (example: http://www.amazon.com/SDC-Nutrition-Protein-Supplement-Vanilla/dp/B00CYQDL4K) and I didn't find it to be grainy. I am personally not vegan--I had purchased this one specifically because I thought it would compliment green smoothies better. I don't know that it was "better" for that…

Awesome LazyButHealthy! I did W5D2 today. I had no desire to turn one of the 8 minute segments into a 10 minute segment but I was super proud to finish them both. I think I may do another session of this day on Friday and tackle D3 on Sunday. It is awesome to jog for 8 minutes straight but I so wish I could fit more…

Pmag--Good luck. Sending you lots of positive thoughts this week! Julie--I know I am just starting but as I hear things about other programs I keep thinking on that sounds good, no wait that sounds good. So I understand what you mean about it being hard to pick the next one. The cool thing is that with the new lifestyle, I…

I finished another session of C25K--excited but very nervous about the next one

Cardio: C25K W5D2 1.65 miles in 33 minutes. I jogged for 8 minutes straight twice--that is a win in my book. Roller skating with my daughter at the local skating rink (fundraiser for her school). Admittedly, more fun than exercise but I am feeling it in my thighs right now so I am counting it. Strength: Not…

I don't think I have the upper body strength (yet) for the hanging, but seated leg raise look perfect for my needs. I can't wait to try again next time session.

LazyButHealthy--that's an interesting idea that I had not thought of. I love listening to different sides of an issue and running seems to be a good uninterrupted time. Jess--currently I am running on a treadmill but if I run outside I agree one ear phone is probably what I would do. It just doesn't seem too safe to have…

Julie--you look amazing. I hope I can have results half so good! JL--I am sorry to hear you are still in pain. I have had friends struggle with pain that the doctors could not find a cause for. I wish I had some idea of how to help but I will send you all kinds of positive thoughts. I went to the gym to do Stage 2 Workout…

Cardio: Only a few minutes on the cross trainer to warm-up Strength: I planned to do NROL4W Stage 2 Workout 1B but ran out of gas. So I don't call it complete but I still got a hell of a workout so that's a win-- Deadlift 40 lbs (+the bar) 10 reps X 2 sets Bulgarian Split Squat 7.5 lbs 10 reps X 2 sets (I did the second…

I had to miss the gym today for a PTO meeting but I am hoping to go back tomorrow. It will depend on my daughter's homework load. The references to minecraft make me laugh. My daughter is obsessed too and especially loves the stampy videos on youtube. I swear his voice is starting to invade my dreams--I hear it all of the…

Cardio: C25K W5D1. Walk/Jog 1.64 miles. MFP estimate: 162 calories Strength: Not tonight. I ended up skipping the gym for a PTO meeting. Depending on my daughter's homework load I may try to do the gym tomorrow night to make up for it. Assessment: I have tried adding more protein today but I still ended up adding…

Another C25K session done. I am nervously excited to progress... +1.64

Congrats SchweddyGirl!!!! So I did W5D1 in its entirety today. I remember counting through every ten second segment of the jogs but I did them all. And I felt like I earned that 5 minute cool down walk. LOL At this rate, I may be at W5D3 by Saturday.
