I am on the road 80% of the time and on an airplane twice a week. I actually asked this question when I first started here and now it's about 2 months later, so I'll share what has worked for me... - 24 hour fitness: another gym chain that allows you to pretty much use its membership anywhere, in any state (I've used it in…

Steadily losing weight and have had the Mirena in for a year. Everyone's body can react differently to different methods. For instance, I bloated like no tomorrow on hormonal birth control pills, but bloating with my Mirena is limited to right before when I would be normally getting my period. So, YMMV.

Mirena. My lifesaver and my Gandalf at the Gate so I don't have to worry anymore.

I worked at Changs for a long time in college. I highly recommend going to the website and looking at their calorie counts for their dishes just to get a ballpark idea of things you'd want to order. A lot of stuff is much higher calorie than you'd think. Also be aware that pretty much everything there is family style and…

Yeah, definitely ask her about that one. You can for sure get it if you haven't had children. If you do go the pill route, best of luck to you. You may need to try a few before you find the magical glass slipper for your body.

To also expand on your original question, YMMV (your mileage may vary) with different pills. What works for one chick will NOT work for another, and so on. I was on Yasmin for 7 years and had zero issues before my body began to slightly change over time (I attribute to my hormone levels fluctuating as I got older since I…

Hmm. I've never had kids either and my doc had no problem with me having it placed. Furthermore, I've had no complications from it. The old adage that you need to have kids before you get the IUD is kind of outdated from what I understand, too. I've done a ton of research on the IUD/Mirena and it can be *easier* for…

I'm sorry you're struggling. I can be the same way with candy - especially chocolate. I literally have to put it out of sight or I will eat the entire candy bar, or carton of ice cream, or bag of individually wrapped candies. One trick that (sometimes) works I set a timer and eat a piece of fruit. (My sugar craving usually…

I am not in the camp that believes birth control itself makes you gain weight. I've had issues with my weight yo-yoing both on and off the birth control pill. That said, I CAN NOT be on the pill. My doc says that I am probably sensitive to the estrogen component. I become a weepy mess, fly off the handle, and have crazy…

I made this recipe tonight and it was STELLAR. Putting this in my back pocket to make often. Thank you!

I think I've read that Mirena can actually assist with PCOS, not sure that the copper IUD (the non-hormonal Paragard) can be used in the same way. Be sure to go to the follow-up visit and get your IUD checked yearly. Also, after every menstrual cycle, check your strings to make sure they are there.

Your mileage always varies. I got my Mirena placed in March. I've slowly but surely gained weight (however this was starting before I got my Mirena - I can prove it by looking at my weigh ins from my doc apps before then!) due to bad habits, a job change/extreme life change (divorce) becoming very lax with exercise, and…

Hahah, that is such a good point! They smell soon good though! I bet they're not even worth the calories (or I shall tell myself...)

I just switched to a Hampton Inn and this place seems to have more amenities than my last hotel. Single serving containers, silverware and microwave all available. Also fresh-baked cookies in the lobby that I have diligent tried to avoid. Can we tell cookies are my downfall.... Thanks so much for all of these suggestions.…

This is a good point. Even though it's only day 2 of me taking a hard look at my habits (eating and otherwise), I am realizing that when I go on one of these "I'm gonna lose weight" tears I restrict so much I feel deprived, hungry, and honestly, kind of depressed. I used to think that eating a banana at breakfast was too…

1. Both. Looking for foods I can bring with me during the travel days (no fridge and usually stuck in an airport or plane with very limited options) and during the week (in hotel with fridge and microwave, but no kitchen to "cook" anything). 2. I have a rental car and the city I am currently in has both Whole Foods and…

That's a good point, but my problem is when I am stuck on a layover that gets delayed and then it's 2.5 hours stuck at the gate with just Biscoff cookies and Chex Mix as the option, I'll binge and eat that until I am "full". I think that planning ahead and having some options in my bag may work. I tried Think Thin protein…

I hadn't thought about the canned beans. I can easily heat those in my microwave in the hotel. Also I've discovered Trader Joes (we don't have those where I'm from). Seems legit this week when I am challenging myself to "make" every meal in my hotel room as opposed to going out to eat.
