  • I'd say for the first few days, do whatever you need to but set an end date. Three days to a week of binge eating with the benefit of quitting smoking is worth it. Using a nicotine patch or gum I found can help. Vaping wasn't around when I quite, but from the articles I read, the main problem with vaping is that it doesn't…
  • 1300-400=900. 900 is too few calories but most do not eat back 100% of exercise calories. Eat back 50%-75% or more and track your results 1300-400+400*50%=1100 1300-400+400*75%=1200 I'd suggest not going below 1200 net calories. Also, how are you determining your exercise calories? What are you doing for exercise?
  • This is a very simple recipe and low calorie. It does call for pancetta, I think bacon can be used in its place. http://www.skinnytaste.com/2011/11/sauteed-brussels-sprouts-with-pancetta.html
  • If you are still interested in Induction, you can get a counter top one. This isn't like the one used in dorm room. It's on my wish list. http://www.nuwavecooktop.com/?ref_version=GOOGLEPRODUCTS&gclid=CjwKEAiAws20BRCs-P-ssLbSlg4SJABbVcDp2eVsBvvZjLpijY-ahBkOoWKtsfaB4lwYIATUM9wsmRoCkuTw_wcB
  • I have it too and recommend it as well.
  • That's probably too much to lose in that amount of time. You should target 1-2 lbs per week. Start here to get more advice. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10300331/most-helpful-posts-getting-started-must-reads#latest
  • Plenty of good advice already. Most important is that you do not need exercise to lose weight. I'd question whether or not you really need to work 60-80 hrs a week. If you are a salary worker, then I'm guessing it's not for the money. I'd used to use work as an excuse as well. Now I use exercise as an excuse to leave work.…
  • No he can't. He is not a special snowflake. He may be taller than you and have more lean body mass which means he needs more calories. As other have said, all of us can have pizza, you just have to fit it into your the amount of calories you need to lose, maintain, or gain weight.
  • I moutain bike and I find road biking to be boring, but I used to commute by bike and loved the fact that I was exercising without taking any extra time out of my day--except that I had to take two showers. So what I'd do is bike to work at a slow pace so you don't break a sweat. Take the scenic route home and get in a…
  • You got plenty good advice here on what to do with regards on what to eat when he brings home pizza. I want to add some regarding how you perceived others eating habits. He may eat whatever he want and is a stick but realize the amount he eats is maintaining his weight. If you were to track all that he ate in a day and his…
  • I'd say my weight gain was similar to yours. I do hope that I don't have to log forever. Instead, either by weighing myself every now and then, or noticing that a pair of pants is getting tight will restart my logging when necessary. I do fear that once I stop, it may be hard to restart.
  • Beer can be my downfall, especially since I like IPAs that can be about 200 calories per 12 oz. So now if I'm going to drink more than two, I may drink 2 high calorie ones first, then switch to Guinness or Miller Lite.
  • ****Please pardon my rant***I really hate the name. The author appears to be a very skinny, but not unhealthy, women who never appears to have had a weight issue. ***ranting over**** That being said, I have like almost everything we have made. My favorites are the pork carnitas, chicken enchiladas, and the sauteed brussel…
  • I keep mine open as if I want to give advice to others or suggest they open their dairy I can show I walk the walk and talk the talk.
  • I agree for the first part of her weight loss, maybe the first 20lbs. What she said she did is replace meals with juicing and work out a lot. That likely means her daily net calories was severely low throughout her weight. She has now stopped working out for four months and ate whatever she wanted over the holidays and has…
  • If your other post, you claim you went from 222 to 155 (67 lbs) and have gained back "20lbs and all cellulite." http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10306902/222-down-to-155 I wish you the best but you have a yo yo approach to your eating and exercise and that is is not healthy.
  • 3 months=13 weeks. Average weight lost per a week=3.8 lbs This is an unhealthy way to lose weight. I'm not a hater I just want other who read this is not in line with MFP or medical advice for most people.
  • Its not clear to me--were you using your gears, i.e. did you change the gears to make pedaling easier? How "big" is your little one? Have you tried riding without the carrier?
  • I'm a little confused as I thought the normal recommendation for gastric bypass was class III obesity (BMI 40+) or class II (BMI 35-40) with a weight related complication. Anyway, both categories are considered morbidly obese. Being labeled as that when my BMI was around 37 (I'm male and a smidge taller than you) was one…
  • Before and During, similar to those above. After: Let's log it and go on. No reason to dwell on it and let it ruin my mindset as one binge will not lead to any significant movement on the scale.
  • If you are willing to make your own, I have found these to be rather tasty compared to store bought brands: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/protein-bars-recipe.html
  • Yes, I don't recognize myself in my old pictures and in my head I think I haven't changed that much even after losing 55 lbs.
  • If you are in calorie deficit, you start losing fat right away. The issue with water weight is that you are losing more water than fat. After a few weeks, I would guess 1-3 but that depends on what you are doing, the weight loss will be more fat and lean body tissue. Unfortunately, to lose fat, you also have to lose some…
  • I was not trying to derail this thread and talk about the health of milk. Our current and past pediatrician told us less than 5 oz of milk a day and preferably none. The video I linked goes into to some of these issues more. I leave it at that. My point was I like many people here see no problems with drinking diet soda…
  • I did not to say Milk is the devil, but it should be perceived in the same light as sugary sodas and juices. It is a source of calories that can easily be overdone. Diet soda on the other hand have little to no calories and IMO could be seen in same light as unsweet ice tea or even water.
  • (Deleted as not want to derail thread on the need or want to click on videos)
  • I love my Coke zero and tend to drink 4 or more a day. I see no problem with this for me but I struggle with the example I am setting for my daugher. We try to encourage her to drink only water. She gets milk at meals and one serving or less of juice a day. If I had my way, I'd cut out all the milk and juice but I can't…
  • "- But also realize that if you are on top of things 90% of the time, the 10% won't matter" Good advice, I'll have to use that. Congrats!
  • Be careful as 1/2 cup does equal 4 fluid oz of water, but not cheese sauce. That works for most things that are mostly water and they may be true for cheese sauce, or at least a conservative assumption. I'm confused on what you are trying to do. Here's what I suggest for your cheese sauce and noodles: Weight your three…
