OP said "no counting." Tracking macros would be considered counting.

Eating 1200 calories will not "fix" your problem. You need to eat at least 1200 calories + exercise calories to support you body and general health. You should not worry about a 4 day period with a 1 lb gain or no gain. As I recall, BC can impact your water retention, but does not impact the amount of fat on your body. So…

A heart rate monitor (chest strap style) would be the best and by itself costs less than $50. You can pair it with a watch, bike computer, or a smart phone using apps like Endomondo, Strava and others. (I like Endomondo and it automatically updates MFP). Even with that, you will have monitor your expected weight loss vs…

What's the point of coming to a calorie counting site and proclaiming success without counting calories? I happy for you success and I don't care whether or not you counted calories, but you seem to the need to throw it our faces--like we should care. So, I'll flip your statement. I've lost over 50 lbs counting calories,…

I went to the gym for years. Eventually, I stop going but kept paying for membership for while. When I did go, I did so because I know I should do it, not because I enjoyed it. Before I had kids, I had so much disposable time. Now, I challenge the need for every minute I don't spend with them that they are awake. That is…

For me, blaming genetics was a lie. This is also true for most people--you are not skinny or fat because genes, its because of how much you eat versus how much energy you need. This is the basics of CICO.
-
You need to log your weekends. Focus on having a 7 day deficit. You do not need to eat more. You are maintaining/gaining because you are eating too many calories.
-
I eat the same way and am just as active as most skinny people, they just have some biological advantage I don't.

From the link above: "Truth be told, I mostly think of plateaus as a myth. My philosophy on weight-loss plateaus is that someone claiming to have hit one isn’t paying enough attention to detail." Sounds good, but then she lost me. Later on "If you’re only trying to lose five, 10, or 15 pounds, you’re in a different place…

So a 19 year old with 15% BF and 160 lbs has the same caloric requirement as a 59 year old with same weight and BF% if they have the same activity level? That makes sense because I guess in actuality we tend become less active as we age as we tire more easily. Thus, the lower need for calories is due to the lower activity…

Although I agree with the others that you could be more accurate in your logging, I can't see that you should be off so much that you aren't losing weight. It seems like you have been at it for 2 months and did lose 4 lbs initially. Those may not be the results you want, but you are doing the right things. I suggest keep…

Your metabolism probably hasn't slowed down as much you think it has. I ran some numbers starting at 19, for a 5'10" male weighing 160 lbs. With no weekly exercise, to maintain the current body weight, below are the age and the calories required: Age___Daily Calories 19______2186 29______2104 39______2022 49______1941…

You are probably hitting one of the limits. 1500 calories/day min for men. 1000 calorie deficit/day max for all. What are you adjusting to and from?

I'm having a hard time understanding why this would be true except for the issues of the larger amounts of muscle mass men have and their height. In the long term, how do hormones effect % body fat? From reading on this site, I understand a little about TOM and water retention but that is not fat. I haven't learned why…

Congrats, but you could have shown us a few more pictures. :)

I've lost 50 on my way to 75 (I'm 5'6"). People only started to notice my weight loss when I stopped wearing my XL shirts/17.5" neck shirts and 38" pants that were originally too small and instead wear Medium or 16" neck shirts and 34" pants--plus I get the slimmer fitting ones. Baggy clothes look bad and will hide your…

I had similar occurrence--worked out a lot before I knew I was about to hit a period where eating at a deficit would be hard and exercise wasn't going to happen. During my hard work phase, I didn't loose much. During the period in which I wasn't on track, I continued to lose. I notice I was pretty sore from my hard work…

At 29, 5'2" and only wanting to lose 13 more lbs, 1200 calories is too low. I should have asked your weight, for this, I'm going to assume you are 13 lbs heavier than the top of normal BMI range for a person 5'2", which is 150lbs. According to the scooby calculator (http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/) your BMR…

Even at 5'2 and no exercise, 1200 calories or less is likely too low. Eating that little will cause you to lose more lean body mass (LBM) and could also lead to hair lose, brittle finger nails, and if too low, damage to your organs. If you exercise a lot, you definitely need eat back some of your calories. Say you burn 400…

Here's my go to Turkey Taco recipe. I haven't put it in recipe builder but I don't see any significant sources of sodium. Adjust the about of chipotles and adobe to taste. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/rachael-ray/make-your-own-tacos-bar-recipe.html But like others said, sodium isn't generally a concern unless you are…

That describes how many people here used to be. As described, I do not see much fault on his part. You are not considering his side and seem to have a "holier than though" attitude.

Essential nutrients.

True. I'm more concerned about the kids and the lesson it is teaching them when with every meal and snack they have juice or milk. They are the "gateway" caloric drinks to sugar sweetened soda and a 2 liter habit.
-
I agree with what is said by other here but I will add this. If you don't want to wait and see if you get to a place where you are satisfied, aim to get somewhere in the BMI overweight range and find out your body fat percentage is. From there, pick a body fat percentage as a goal. Below are some picture to help you.

I don't like how soda is singled out. First off, there are diet sodas and flavored soda water that are not part of the problem. Then too many people think fruit juices and milk are better. The may be marginally so, but still have similar amounts of calories with minimal nutritional benefits. If the war on soda got was…

Eating meat is not a habit. You are being too harsh.

I see a lot of "brand x" makes sneaker for PF. That's not really true. Athletic shoes can be made to address how different people walk and/or run, if you over or under pronate, etc. A lot of folks with PF overpronate and need motion control shoes. If you overpronate and run, you should get these shoes. More importantly, if…

I'm at 48 lbs and still going. I generally only focus on overall calories.

For daily, I agree Ecco's are great. For working out, you need to get fitted by professional. Also, and I'm surprised your Dr. didn't suggest this, get orthotics made. Finally, a night brace/splint is really helpful…
