  • This might be what you're already doing, but writing down every bite isn't the same as measuring every bite. If you don't have one, a kitchen scale is great for making sure that you're eating exactly what you think you're eating. I weigh and measure almost everything, but I try to be especially careful with high calorie…
  • I feel your pain. I've been on a plateau for 3 weeks now, no loss. The way I think of it is this -- even if I don't see it on the scale, everything I'm doing is still good. I just have to keep at it. Are you measuring your food? And 1400 calories sounds fine, I wouldn't cut that back much.
  • I've had the best luck at JC Penneys for jeans and consignment stores for tops. FWIW, I'm pretty curvy and right now wear a US size 12.
  • Maybe this will help: - Do you want to pass this problem onto the next generation? No? Because that's what you're doing when you encourage soda, sweets, chips, etc. as snacks. The kids might complain, but I promise that going without cheese puffs will not kill them. Get the junk food out of the house. - Put a scale in the…
  • 11 lbs is a huge accomplishment. That's 33,000 calories you didn't eat! I can only echo what everyone else has said -- your mom has her own weight issues. Don't tangle yours with hers. Come here to celebrate instead and remember you're doing this for you, not her.
  • "Does anyone have any idea what I did wrong here? Is it seriously just lack of will power, or am I doing something wrong?" I know what went wrong -- you expected to be perfect, to have a road without bumps. No, you can't have two slices of cake every single day and lose weight. But guess what? Those two slices have not…
  • Your fiancee loves you for you, not your belly! You're both going to look fantastic on your wedding day, and remember that the wedding is just one day in your lives together.
  • Hi! I'm 32, 5'8, about 180 lbs, so I have a bit more to go than you, but I'm in the same "no exercise" boat. Mostly just concentrating on food right now. Good for you getting back on wagon! Definitely more challenging in a relationship -- I started gaining weight after I got married. My trick now is to make my hubby stuff…
  • Way to go!! Good sleep is important for staying healthy and losing weight!
  • I put on a little weight after I graduated, but I really put on weight after I got married. My husband likes food, I like to cook for him, he likes snacks and sweet stuff, and so that's around the house more. Fortunately he's very encouraging but not critical. He wants to change his eating too. He barely makes weight for…
