  • I looked into getting pregnant but the science isn't quite there yet...
  • Love the gif! Yes, this kind of happened to me. It wasn't 4 days though. I called surgeons office and they did recommend Miralax. There were a few instances where I was VERY constipated and it was HARD to poop. But... It will pass. I think it pretty much stopped after a few months.
  • There's a good article in NY Times by Gary Taubes about carb cravings. He hits nail right on head.
  • @huruta22 Awesome! I think the main component of what your doing is staying away from the sweets and the simple carbs. And your moving a lot too. I see you continuing to lose if you keep on keepin' on!
  • @Ultima_Morpha Thank you for mentioning BMI! You're spot on about it's use. It should NOT be used to measure individuals. It caught on in the 90's because insurance companies were using it to discriminate and healthcare professionals realized it's easy to plug in height/weight and have an equation spit out a number. Most…
  • After a long struggle starting in Sept 2013 to get approval through my HMO I finally met surgeon in January 2015. I weighed 394lbs that day (I topped out at 403 in Feb 2014 and was 399 when I started using MFP). The surgeon said a good weight for me based on my body type and history would be 220lbs. My personal first goal…
  • My real name is James for anyone interested, LOL. I'n VERY HAPPY with my weight and other health measurables (blood work #s excellent, blood pressure, resting heart rate, etc). I was on 7 prescription drugs and now NONE. Was diabetic and have a current A1C of 5.0. Oh, and I eat 3-5 fruits a day so that stuff about sugar in…
  • This is like asking "best guy to date?" lol
  • if its in a meme...
  • ANY FRUIT and a handful of nuts.
  • Looks like they've temporarily closed registration for it. Anyone know what's going on?
  • I take vitamins - through the FOOD I eat

  • I'm presuming youre referencing water consumption? Lol. When you say your tolerance for heat has dropped, do you mean you drink MORE water now that you weigh less? I work outside so I drink a lot of water most days anyway. Can't say I notice a difference between now and 3 years and 200lbs ago. I will say this. I drink to…
  • Welcome! Contrary to the scary studies out there, quitting Diet Coke doesn't really matter when it comes to weight loss. It's not great for you, but definitely better tha regular Coke.

  • Not sure what the purpose of knowing where people are from?
  • I'm super-excited about my first Half-marathon in Oct. I kind of want to do one earlier but if I wait I think it will be really special because it's the local race that everyone loves. It's the only Half in this area in the fall. My first goal is to simply finish without injuries. But I'd also love to break 2 and half…
  • So is this just like a fun little game to keep track of your daily goals? And / or help you with weight and health?
  • @jcavanna2 I still have "junk" food occasionally just a lot less if it. I met with my HMOs dietician regularly for over 2 years after surgery. Just like with all the info I acquire I took her advice into consideration and made choices based on what I thought was best. Didnt agree with her 100% of the time. My theory on…
  • I ate probably 10 servings of fruit today in an all day work training. Hundreds of grams of sugar. I think I'll be ok. I don't know anyone who has become obese on mainly fruit. To think that a processed bar with synthetic artificial ingrediants is better than a nectarine is nuts to me.
  • Refined carbs. So I don't have in house.
  • I was probably eating 1,800-2,000 at 3 months out. I eat around 2,200-3,000 now. I know most of the replies to your post will be much lower calories counts. But I truly believe it's not so much about calories as it is eating whole foods. I stay away from sweets and refined carbs as much as possible. In 28 months I'm down…
  • I'm currently 198lbs. Down from 403 in 2014. And have an extra 10-20lbs of skin hanging from me. Had bariatric surgery March 2015. Happy with my weight. Looking to get more fit.
  • So... I was looking at groups and stumbled upon this one. For over a decade I weighed over 300lbs topping out at 403 in Feb 2014. In March 2015 I had vertical sleeve Gastrectomy. Through major changes in eating and exercising habits, and educating myself about health, I now weigh 198lbs. I'm supportive of anyone trying to…
  • I would think yours would be similar @Jamieeldred and use starting BMI. On a side note, I wish the healthcare industry wouldn't use BMI at all. It has NO basis in diet or nutrition. Was originally designed to average large populations. It benefits shorter adults. It's basically a terrible measurement of health.
  • @acorsaut89 You obviously want to be convinced NOT to have the surgery. So don't. I know I would if I were you. And the only thing most vsg patients regret is that they didn't do it sooner.
  • I strongly recommend bariatric surgery to most people that are severely obese.
  • 15k trail run in Santa Barbara on Independence day. Looks brutal.
  • I'll be doing the Anaheim one in January. It will be my second Half. I'm signed up for a local Half in October.
  • @Missingme160 You probably should eat more. I was eating 2,000+ calories within a few months. Cut the processed foods and focus on eating healthy whole foods
  • Start now. Lifestyle changes are moment by moment decisions. Hope is great. Smile and live the life you want.
