Regardless of the answer it shouldn't really matter. Habits have to change, plain and simple.
-
It's about habits. Your pouch won't change size (sorry, that's science). What you really need us a paradigm shift in your thinking. Focus on overall health, not that number on scale. And always remember how much healthier you are today compared to before. 😀

There's a common myth that we "need" a certain amount of water. The fact is, it really depends on each individual. Sedentary people can survive on probably 20 ounces or so. Where as days when I run long distances I'm probably getting upwards of 200. Anything you drink is primarily water. Even milk is 93% water. Your body…

"Your" thread. L O L. Good luck. 😁

I don't count any macros. I do motice if I eat REFINED carbs in large quantities then I ain weight. But once I cut back for a few days im good.

I'm not sure what part of MY QUOTE leads you to believe I assume you eat processed foods. Read it closely. My point was that fat regulation is about so much more than calories. Maybe you should follow own advice and not assume?
-
Time and time again I see quotes like this. Weight gain/loss is NOT about energy balance (CICO), there's so much more to it. Mainly hormones, insulin in particular. I believe if we stick to whole or minimally processed foods most of us won't gain weight.

There's really nothing you can do about it. Almost everyone experiences hair loss. Eat REAL FOOD and you'll get all the nutrients you need.

Whenever I start to think I may have gained a pound or two or lost some fitness, I ask myself, "could I run a Half-Marathon right now, drop of a hat?" The answer has been YES for a year. So... I'm good. 😁
-
@capecodgirl50 pouch diet is a WLS myth that it will "reset" your pouch (vsg really isn't a pouch anyway). You basically eat a bunch of processed shakes and crap for 3, 5 or 10 days and it supposedly will magically reset your pouch. It's total BS. I would try not to worry about weight. You don't "have to" lose any. The…

I know I sound like a broken record but REAL FOOD is what works for me. Meat chicken fish eggs beans nuts veggies etc. There's plenty of natural ways to get protein and micro nutrients. They're satiating and it's what humans have been doing for millions of years. 😁

@loveshoe You're a great member of this community and I hate to see you struggle. But... I'm going to tell it like it is. There's no going back to the "honeymoon" period. And if you continue to focus on your weight you'll never really be happy. No one, and I repeat, NO ONE gets to "goal", stays there, never gains a pound…

@lozenger1984 That's awesome. I bet once you do that first 5k you'll get hooked like I did. I can totally see you doing races especially if you're already running 20 minutes straight!

@Samquentin Thanks! It's catching on. Latest episode has most downloads. Different topics for all so whatever interesting give it a listen. Reviewing is hard without iTunes. If you have a pc/laptop you can download iTunes onto there. BTW, great new profile pic. Didn't even recognize ya! ;) <3 :)

After running my first Marathon in April I decided to start my own Podcast! Some episodes have more to do with weight loss, and some more to do with running. bariatricrunner.libsyn.com/ All the episodes can be found at the link above or search "Bariatric Runner" in iTunes or your Podcast app and you should find it there.…

@jcavanna2 love THIS:

I found this Dr. Weiner on YouTube today. Good stuff about the reasons for weight regain, how much, why, etc. At least a little "regain" happens to almost everyone. I don't know one single person who lost all the weight they wanted, stayed there the rest of their life and lived happily ever after. But there are lots of…

HELLO all. I'm still good. Been battling a couple little nagging leg issues but nothing major. If I didn't run i probably wouldn't have even noticed. Been sticking to New Year's resolution and not weighing. I'm probably a couple pounds heavier than six months ago but clothes still fit fine so I'm good. My girlfriend and I…

Bariatric Runner Podcast, Ep 3 I was looking for a topic to post this in and thought this fit. This is Episode 3 of the podcast my girlfriend and I have been working on. Still very raw but trying to deliver some good content for bariatric patients and/or runners. Please give it a listen. Thanks!

I've researched this "pouch reset" and have found no scientific evidence that it does anything. That being said, as a placebo effect of feeding yourself differently in order to "reset" your diet it may have an effect. The bottom line though is unless one changes long term HABITS, (eating and exercising), then these resets…

@barngrill SUGAR and other refined carbohydrates are ADDICTIVE. The sooner we realize that the sooner we can tackle it. Things really aren't going to get better unless you try to cut them out of your life. I still have some occasionally but don't keep junk around the house. If you find yourself eating mindlessly because of…

BTW, I do have a friend who has the Peloton. She likes it and uses it. She has a couple of kids so it makes working out a lot more convenient.

@jcavanna2 That seems like A LOT for a gym. I had a membership to a local one about 5 years ago and it was $9/month. (After the initial sign up which was like $70). I live in a smaller town. Since surgery I've only spent $ on shoes, a couple of bicycles and a weight set. I live in a great climate so it's easy to get lots…
-
@HLaR79 Congrats on a successful surgery! Sounds like you're doing just fine. Make everyday a healthy one. I walked as much as comfortable from the get go. Three and a half years later I'm still walking everyday and I'm HEALTHIER and HAPPIER than ever. Best of luck going forward!
-
I've never actually thought about this but I remember at McDonald's they always specified "weight before cooking". I'd go by the pre cook weight.
-
@CTCindy LOVE that! I did my first 5k Feb 2017 and got addicted to running and races. Having a race on the calendar really helps me stay motivated!
-
I'm 3+ years post op and eat all day. Mostly whole foods. Calories aren't relevant to me but I probably AVERAGE around 3,000. I eat A LOT of natural fat. Maintaining 200lbs weight loss.
-
@jmansor probably the hardest part is the beginning. Cutting down on refined sugars and carbohydrates is TOUGH. The first few days I really craved junk food. But each day that passed it got easier. After about three weeks it rarely crossed my mind. I also started walking regularly too. I downloaded a step counting app on…

@kc82 Magic Pill EXCELLENT documentary! I'm so glad Netflix picked it up. And I agree Keto is solid if one sticks to it. @lempeck214 I definitely think you will lose with Keto but it is VERY DIFFICULT to stick to long term. 70-85% fat calories for the rest of your life. Here's what I would recommend. Stick to whole foods.…

This is about the earliest I've seen a "holiday" post lol. But really when you think about it practically the whole year there's a "food" holiday near term. That and birthdays weddings parties showers Super Bowl... etc. The average American probably attends 15-30 "events" a year that large amounts of food are present and…
