  • Most people only eat 50-75% of those back, but yes if you're following MFPs method you should eat some back. Intake-exercise should = 1200 for the purposes of getting adequate nutrition.
  • Apple and nut butter! Hit your sweet and salty in one snack. I buy the PB to Go singles and eat it with apple slices every morning at work.
  • Before I got my scale, I made sure that my measuring cups were packed loose. I'd also take a finger and wipe the top layer off, just to try and get as close as possible. But yes, a scale will change your life. I agree to try and change your activity level to sedentary and add intentional exercise that way, eating back…
  • The general rule of thumb I have read is not to drop below 1800.
  • I second that. I'd rather have the real thing. I do keep Fiber One brownies in the house for days I don't have a lot of wiggle room and find myself needing a sweet fix. It does the trick. You can make healthier swaps for things - I was out of butter one day and didn't realize until I was in the thick of making cookies. I…
  • I'm a desk muncher too. Morning snack is usually an apple and either cheese or pre-measured pb/almond butter. I have also done 80cal greek yogurts in the morning. Afternoon snack is usually 100cal popcorn, maybe some veggies and hummus, etc. I like popcorn and veggies because I can eat a lot and that satisfies my urge to…
  • This. It took me losing about 65lbs before I noticed a difference. One day I was just smaller. Then I got pregnant, and gained 15 back and I have never felt bigger in my life haha. Edit to correct wonk spelling
  • My little is 3 months old tomorrow - I used MFP to keep track of my intake and kept my gain to 15lbs, which is appropriate for someone overweight. It's helpful! There is even a group on here - fit, fabulous, and pregnant. Good luck and congrats!
  • If your daily burn is 2256 and you eat 1700, that's a 500 calorie deficit, and will be about 1lb loss per week. You can start there, and see how you feel. Tweak accordingly. That's the way I look at these. Yes, MFP and Garmin are great tools that help me gauge what I am doing, but at the end of the day if I'm not hungry…
  • I used it to find my first goal weight. 145 is the upper end of healthy for my height, and I plan to gauge how I feel from there. I did rejoice last year when I saw that my doctors computer classified me as overweight, and not obese. I walked out fist pumping haha. But ultimately for me it was just a tool to pick my first…
  • It can make you retain water, which can mask fat loss. But no, it does not hinder fat loss.
  • Garmin has some forums, you may able to find something there that helps. I can't access them from my work computer though, I tried
  • Is MFP giving you that burn, or Garmin itself? It does seem like something is whack.
  • The general school of thought is anything you were doing before pregnancy you can do during, just modify as you get bigger. Walking, swimming, and yoga are generally considered safe. Old advice is to keep your heart rate under 140, but that's phasing out a bit and many are recommending the talk test instead. Consult with…
  • Have you set up your Garmin Connect profile with your height and weight? That's all I got... but if you want friends I'm ashliefisch there.
  • Is your little eating solids or getting supplemental formula? 250-300. EBF? 500 is typical, I do 450.
  • You said it's TOM. If you're truly at a calorie deficit, that's your culprit. I can go up 8lbs the week of my cycle.
  • Second to not eating if you're not a breakfast person. Save your calories for meals you want to eat or are hungry for. I promise, you'll be fine.
  • Fit, Fabulous, and Pregnant is full of like minded mamas. I was down 72lbs when I got my positive test. Used MFP to keep my gain to 15lbs. It works if used correctly! Good luck and congrats.
  • I've done both. In the beginning, I made better food choices when I worked out first thing in the morning. I do prefer mornings because I feel better through out the day - more awake, etc. But right now, evenings work better for my life. All that matters is they get in. I have read that a serving of chocolate milk is one…
  • You should be able to change the serving size to 1 gram, at which point you can put 7 servings of 1 g. Or .5 of 14 will work. For your egg whites, again you can change the serving size to 1g and put 90 servings of 1, or do the math to find out how many servings of 33g 90g is.
  • I wish more doctors had sense yours does! My biggest recommendation is make changes you can live with, so they will stick. It HAS to be forever or you'll be doing it again. For protein I like the usual sources, like chicken, fish, and turkey. I also eat greek yogurt and cheese daily, hard boiled eggs frequently, nut butter…
  • It was annoying at first. It gets less time consuming. I also pre-log either the night before or in the morning. It takes 5 minutes out of time I'd be browsing facebook. If it's too much of a pain for you to log your food, then just do things your way and see how it works out. What's the point of using a calorie counting…
  • Are you using an activity tracker of any kind? Is your warehouse work on your feet, busy busy? What is your activity level set to here on MFP? I work in a doctors office. Some days, I'm on my duff all day. Some days, we're up and hoping. Same with my days off. If the weathers nice, the dogs get long walks, plus working…
  • If I'm hungry, I start by eating 50% back. If I'm not hungry, I don't eat them. I drink a large glass of water and wait 10-20 minutes to see if I'm still hungry.
  • Being supportive is not mutually exclusive with agreeing with someone. She was offered good advice, that was done in a polite manner, and she felt bullied because no one thought it was a great idea.
  • Funky Monkey Baked Oatmeal from budgetbytes. Oats, one egg, milk, peanut butter, banana, chocolate chips, coconut for approximately 360 cals a serving. I added walnuts for some crunch. Batch cooked, heated in the microwave and I eat with 1/2 cup milk.
  • Get a scale. You don't know for sure you're eating at a deficit, or what your deficit is. Play with macros. Some people stay satisfied with protein, some fiber. Find out what works for you.
  • At least have your baby typed at birth. Nuva ring is not permanent. Nuva ring fails. I would say, if this baby is positive, get the shot just in case. BUT, at least you will know, and if your birth control fails or you do decide to be pregnant again, you'll know. You and your ob at that point can decide together what the…
