I'm not low-carb, but you could joint the low-carb group here or Google "keto flu"--there are definitely some suggestions out there for you.

I absolutely track on Christmas, but I don't worry about calories or macros. Why track then? Because it keeps me mindful of what is (or is not) worth it to me. Homemade treats? Absolutely. Bland store-bought cake? Not a chance. I hope you enjoyed the holiday!

Meghanebk brings up a good point: Are you thinking of food so much that it's interfering with other aspects of your life? Are your thoughts of food causing you to overeat, or do you just notice that you're thinking about food when you're not hungry (and you find that odd)? In my opinion, these thoughts would not be a cause…

It was pizza. A LOT of pizza, by the sound of it. But unless you repeat this slip day after day, you haven't done THAT much damage. Learn what you can from this and move on. Suggested learning point: stop damning Papa John--annoying as he may be, he did not force that pizza down your eager little gullet! :) Seriously, just…

If I remember my Grimm's Fairy Tales correctly, trolls tend to be a little gassy. No? >:)

If it helps while you're waiting for your body to adjust, instead of seeing your looser skin as unsightly, remember how you got it: You have children! You succeeded in losing excess weight! Both are reasons to celebrate. Yay, you!

Small changes can make a really big difference over time. You don't need to overhaul your entire life on day 1--think "lifestyle change" instead of "diet" and you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish. Congratulations on getting started!

Barring medical issues, the best plan for weight loss is the calorie-deficit-inducing plan that you can stick with. OP, you've lost about 25 pounds in four months, which is great progress--is there a reason you need a new approach? (Your question did mention some ongoing medical/health concerns. If any of these have…

Yes. I successfully cut out all chocolate for three months. At which time I fell under the Chocolate Wagon, and it backed over me. Repeatedly. I don't do well with putting specific foods off-limits, as it turns out. I've found it much easier to transition from eating really sweet chocolates (e.g. milk chocolate with a lot…

I mix and match them in any given week, just to avoid boredom...and eggs are in the usual breakfast rotation as well. It all depends on what I'm in the mood for and (as @trigden1991 suggests) what sort of macros I may be looking at for the day.

Jar salads work well for me, and I can mix and match what I put in for veg, protein, dressing, etc. With a lid on tight, they stay fresh all week. Here's the method: http://www.thekitchn.com/salad-in-a-jar-make-a-week-of-lunches-173014 I also make a big batch of burritos, wrap them individually, and freeze them. They warm…

I don't take a multi, but I do take specific vitamins that I've tested low for: vitamin D and B-12. The dose I take daily to get me into the reference range for D in particular is higher than the typical levels in multivitamins, so that's another factor for me.

I agree with @johunt61--it's all about changing your mindset. If you can quit smoking (congratulations on that!), then you have the ability to identify changes in your eating or exercise habits that will put you on your way to shedding those pounds. Go for it!

Love this thread--thanks @krwjohnson for reminding me that there are people on MFP who ask for advice--and then listen to what people have to offer with an open mind. Best of luck reaching your goals at a safe, sustainable speed! :)

There are some fantastic suggestions here! For me, the cue for mindless eating was mindless TV watching. So I reduced the cue--I cut back on TV, and now I'm willing to turn it off and find something else to do if a show I'm watching is boring. That helped a ton. Good luck!

When you go to home/goals to set your calorie goal, you can also check to make sure your goal doesn't increase when you log exercise if you want it to be stable.

OP, what sort of help/support are you looking for with this post? It has all the charm of a threat, and that (combined with your unfortunate choice of screen name) is off-putting. It's very hard for me to take you seriously at all, and I feel bad about that. If you want to meet someone--for friendship or more--find…

Kudos on your weight loss and for maintaining for a year--fantastic! First of all, it's good that you're not panicking. Seeing the scale tick up can be alarming, but stress isn't helpful. Remain calm, and give yourself time and room to figure out what's going on. You'll be able to hold on to your hard-won success. :) I…

That's great! Go forward with confidence--you've got this. :)

If I get plenty of lean protein during the day, I don't crave sweets as much. Oddly enough, it also helped to stop using artificial sweeteners.... Good luck!

The only one you can control in this relationship is you. I'm not sure what is keeping you from ending the relationship, but I would strongly encourage you to see a counselor or therapist--not to change your boyfriend, but to understand what's going on with you. The fact that you're willing to let him belittle you on an…

Um, "bowel integrity?" Really? Does this mean that if you don't *kitten* yourself, you're not working hard enough? (I don't work hard enough--I'll gladly stipulate that. I'm just curious about the phrase "bowel integrity.")

I am ok at planks for about a minute at a time. Part of my training is doing five 1 min planks with 1 min between, starting with a 25 lb weight on my back and working down to no weight on the last one. I am dead by the 3rd one! Sometimes I have to drop to rest - sometimes not. Depends on how the day goes. [/quote] Well,…

That's fantastic! Well done!

Can you hold a plank for any period of time? Just curious. (I can't do rope climbing OR a full push-up....)

That is SO GREAT, Emma! You inspire me.

Sorry you've been sidelined--but the good news is that your injury is not permanent. While you're waiting for your body to heal, you might also consider trying a little bit of *actual* meditation or mindfulness. It could help you to deal with some of the frustration you're feeling. Just a thought that wasn't already…

Hello, lovely you! My only suggestion is this: Trust yourself. You have exactly the skills you need already. You know that reducing your calories too much will only sabotage you in the long run. You also know that eating the same foods day-in, day-out will bore you to death. Neither of these are required for you to be…

The approach suggested by @happyauntie2015 is excellent! Also, if you're a beginner, try to focus on developing proper technique so that you get the most value from your strength training and reduce the chance of accidental injury. The belly dancing sounds fun! I'm going to go check YouTube for options now. :)

When I worked in an elementary school, a senior teacher gave me great advice: Keep your hands away from your face as much as possible. Stay well hydrated at all times, and if your work environment is dry, use a little saline spray throughout the day to keep your nasal passages hydrated. (Not exactly sure why that last one…
