I never set aside enough time to let raw kale sit, so I'm a "massager." It's quick and easy. Prep the raw kale by removing the ribs and chopping it into bite-size or slighty larger pieces. Toss it in a bowl with a little vinaigrette (or the dressing/salsa of your choice), and squeeze it all together with your hands until…

Agave nectar. I'll take my agave as tequila, please. >:)

I understand why you don't want to just disregard this experience. I've lost weight and then gained all or most of it back a number of times, and it sucks. You've been very successful at losing the weight (-73 pounds is an amazing accomplishment!), and you naturally want to keep it off. It seems to me that your post here…

Well done, Emma! Keep us posted on how it goes!

Truly--that's crazy talk. It would be good to know which book is promoting that claptrap.... OP, congrats on finding an exercise you like to do. Keep it up!

Make mine 2 fun-size Butterfingers--but I planned them into my calorie and sugar limits for the day. Is that still a cheat?

I dropped below 200 a couple years ago, and I can still remember what that felt like. It's totally worth it! Keep going!

I take snarky comments as proof that I'm making progress. The people who love me may not always tell me the unvarnished truth, but the haters? When they start in with their *kitten*, I know I'm on the right track. >:)

Exquisite--fits you beautifully!

I read this thread because I found the phrase "shedding for the wedding" humorous. I was surprised to see you address this issue here. I understand your point, but I don't see any evidence of emotional/shame issues from the posters who are interested in joining this group. And I don't see anyone suggesting unhealthy ways…

Do you keep a log? I use the notes field of MFP to write down some details when I have a slip like yours and I can't put my finger on what may have triggered it. (Where was I? What was I doing? How did I feel before I decided to over-indulge? How did I fell afterward?) This serves two purposes: I can let go of the guilt,…

You're not alone! I was just looking at a thread about people "starting over." Many had lost quite a lot of weight, only to gain some or all of it back, and some gained more than they had lost. I've done it a couple times myself. It's tough. I would suggest that rather than overhauling your entire eating plan, that you…

Because I like fresh greens (mesclun, spinach, kale), I like to make jar salads. Here's the method--you can use whatever protein, veg, dressing you like: http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-pack-the-perfect-salad-in-a-jar-cooking-lessons-from-the-kitchn-192174

I have never been a candidate for surgery, but I do consult a registered dietician. She pointed out that I tended to leave snacks out of my eating plan. I thought that not snacking would help me keep my calories low, but what it really did was leave me vulnerable to the afternoon snack attack. Now, when others are having…

Welcome back! You can absolutely do this. Feel free to add me--I don't have any great advice, but I'll be happy to send an encouraging word if you hit a rough patch.

What kind of damage do you mean? Unless you have diabetes, it's unlikely that this one isolated lolly-eating incident will do you any harm. If you retain water weight when you eat too much sugar (I tend to do that), then drink plenty of fluids, get back on your normal routines for nutrition and exercise, and weigh in at…

Everyone in my office gets one annually through our employer's health center--we're not healthcare workers, but getting annual flu vaccinations has really cut down on sick time in our office. I can't remember the last time I had the flu.

Yes, but your secret is safe with us.

Maybe it's the spoon that's the problem?

I have no advice for you, but I do have an observation: At 168, you're still over 20 pounds lighter than when you started. Give yourself credit for not gaining back to 190-plus! You're still better off than when you started in 2015, and you've already proven that you can lose the weight. You can do this!

Menopause can be a *kitten*. (I am also 53.) But it's also an opportunity to get in touch with your body and to figure out what you really want to eat that falls within your calorie/macro goals. If you let go of focusing on the result (how much you weigh, what your pants size is, or how many inches your waist measures) and…

Good evening! Your post just made my day, @mariettaortiz42.

If you're not already doing so, take the time to carefully weigh (or at least measure) your food before you track it. Portion distortion is something I struggle with all the time.... But whatever you do, don't give up. Find small tweaks that you think might help, and try them long enough to see if they do. You can do this!

This is a really interesting perspective. Was eating together something you and your dad did more of before you started on your weight loss journey? If so, he might just miss that connection with you. As others mentioned, maybe you could substitute a walk or other non-food activity that you can both enjoy. Whatever the…

Someone on MFP used the phrase "don't let a slip become a slide." I remind myself of that every time I'm imperfect. I'm human, so that happens now and again. :)
-
I would agree that you should try out the free version and see how it fits. I upgraded to premium fairly soon after starting MFP, and I'm unlikely to renew when my year is up. If you're following a plan that has very different caloric or macro goals for specific days of the week or specific macro goals by meal, then it…

Me, too!

Absolutely! Pass along any tips you get from these great resources--you're making progress already!

Back in the day, I'd sneak out of the house to get a high-calorie sweet treat. Maybe you could try the opposite: when you're at school or otherwise out of the house, take any opportunity to have a piece of fruit or some veggies. Healthy foods are all over the place--find a way to eat 'em in peace!
