SIXTEEN hours!? Bless your heart!!! I hope you can reach him, I'm interested to hear what he has to say. I read up a little on your medications, and I think what's difficult in your case is, with the kombiglyze, reducing the hypoglycemic means reducing the metformin too. Maybe he'll reduce or eliminate the Jardiance? We'll…

Hi Jules. I used to be on insulin too and also have had issues with low blood sugars, mainly due to change in diet, losing weight and increasing exercise. However, I'm on Bydureon, metformin, and repaglinide. Of those, repaglinide is the main hypoglycemic agent, so my doctor reduced my dose, although I still have to watch…

I was in a similar situation some years ago. My doctor told me, "Just refuse to eat with him. You don't have to eat what he serves." She was right.

I take 8 g of cinnamon a day. Personally, I think it helps, but I've never tried to tease out its effects from those of the other supplements and drugs I take. I haven't had any adverse effects that I am aware of either.

I've taken melatonin to help with my insomnia on and off over the years. I never observed it to have an effect on my fasting glucose. Of course, your mileage may vary, as the saying goes.

I feel for you, Aarch. I have DDD and spinal stenosis too. Fortunately they were able to do surgery that relieved the pain, at least for now, but the months leading up to that were total agony. I hope you can get into the water classes.and find some relief.

Jill, Although any of us could share our experiences with you, it is going to be difficult for anyone here to answer your question because (at least from my perspective, because I don't know you) there are so many unknowns to your situation. What I can say is this (and please forgive me if I'm repeating stuff you've…

Hi St. George, MFP will track carbs. Go to your home page on MFP, click Settings, then Food and Exercise Diary Settings. Under "Nutrients Tracked", add Carbohydrates. It's also useful to track Fat, Protein, and Fiber as well. I don't believe it has a specific setting for GI, though, but I could be mistaken. I haven't found…

Welcome! You're on the right track when you say losing weight and exercise will help. I love to cook, so if you're looking for a recipe in particular, I might have one, or we could swap ideas on how to make it more diabetes friendly. Feel free to jump into the Discussion area with questions, people are pretty friendly. :)

I enjoy ONE plain rice cake spread with a tsp of almond butter. Eating too much of anything is not going to be good for weight loss. A whole package in a sitting? That's the problem right there.

Along the lines of Kaye's suggestion to think outside the box... I'm half-Japanese, and on occasion I will have something like a Japanese breakfast: broiled fish, clear soup, small dishes of vegetables, and a rolled omelet. They usually have a bowl of rice too, and of course you probably wouldn't want to include that, but…

Ha! Maybe someone who didn't know about that resource will notice it now. Consider it a public service announcement. :)

Were you able to figure out if the bedtime snack is what bumped your fasting number up? Some folks seem to find a bedtime snack helps their numbers. Maybe it depends on the content of the snack; I'd be interested in what you're eating as a snack. I think what keeps my fasting BG reasonable these days is Bydureon.
