  • I felt really good about myself when I went to a Korean day spa/bath house. The hot baths were only allowed for use if you didn't have clothes. It gave me a chance to look at other women and think "Oh, she has bigger thighs/hips/tummy, but it looks nice" and kind of seeing "flaws" and realizing that they can be…
  • I love carrots and salsa. Everyone thinks it sounds weird, but I think it's great!
  • I was giving a five year old a manicure and she said she liked marshmallows, followed by "you remind me of a marshmallow!" Of course, I asked why and she said "Because marshmallows are fat." I was already starting to use MFP and working out, so it kicked in a bit more as motivation, not depression. She wasn't trying to…
  • I suggest finding a relatively short track to start running on. One that is about 10 laps per mile. Alternate running a lap and walking a lap for about a week. Then change it up, repeating running two, walk one. And just keep increasing every week. It worked for me really well and prevented me from getting shin splints.
  • I've decided not to weigh myself more than once every 2 weeks, if not less. I think the best motivation is when a friend/acquaintance asks me if I've lost weight. Sometimes, the number on the scale tells me that I weigh the same, but this helps me know that my weight is shifting and that exercise and diet are working in…

It's…

  • I really enjoy an iced tall skinny mocha with two pumps of the (seasonal) chestnut praline syrup. It's not entirely sugar free, but it's still under 110 calories. Iced coffee with toffee nut and soy or non-fat milk is also a great choice. Any iced coffees sweetened to standard with any flavor or variety of milk (not half…
  • I often make a dozen hardboiled eggs at the beginning of the week and buy some pre-sliced ham. 1 egg and 3 oz of sliced ham are around 180 calories, and I still feel satisfied enough, but could eat twice as much and still be within a decent calorie limit. If you have a little more time (to toast something instead of grab &…
