I second the C25K app plan. I just finished the program and ran my first 5K. I could not run a mile before I started the plan.

I graduated!! Now I'm doing my first 5K on Saturday! Never thought I could run 5k before starting C25K.

I'm starting week 9. Almost there...

I just finished week 6. I found the first week tough (my legs were very sore) but then my legs got used to it. Good luck. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/30-couch-to-5k-running-program-c25k

Good luck - from one Mechanical Engineer to another. :)

I also have these and they were falling out until I switched to a pair of the smaller rubber tips that go into your ear. Have you tried the other size tips that come with it?

I grew up in Battle Creek, and went to college in Houghton. I married a girl from Munising and we now live on the other side of Lake Michigan (in Wisconsin) but we have a house in the middle of the UP and try to spend as much time there as possible.

I have a Charge and love it. It does motivate me to move more. @rugbyphreak you could measure and change your stride length on fitbit.com to make it match your treadmill.

I know what you mean. I am finishing up week 4 and my legs were in pain the first week even though I was exercising before starting C25K (bike riding on a trainer all winter). Now my legs don't hurt nearly as much as they did in week 1 - so it will get better.

Do you have MFP and MapMyWalk connected (synced) or do you enter the same workout in each? I use MapMyRun to record walks or runs and it automatically puts it into MFP with the same calorie burn.

13 lbs is great! Keep it up! You can do it and don't let any jerks bring you down!

I use my bike on an indoor trainer when I can't ride outside.

I have had bad Eczema in the past and used prescription steroid creams and also Aquaphor at night - while wearing cotton gloves while sleeping. I had seen a dermatologist, and was given a patch test and found that I have an allergy to formaldehyde - which is used as a preservative (DMDM HYDANTOIN) in many liquid soaps,…

They use two different equations for BMR. IIFYM uses the Mifflin-St Jeor (1990) model and the Scooby calculator that you posted the link to uses the Harris-Benedict equation form 1919. Scooby also has a calculator that lets you choose between the models: http://scoobysworkshop.com/accurate-calorie-calculator/
