  • I'm a Fitletic fan myself. I distance run and use it to carry water, gels, phone, other essentials. It doesn't bounce around either if you're looking for something to hold water bottles.
  • Just started wearing a vivosmart HR and I really like it. Its $149 but I got it for free and wouldn't have spent that much otherwise. The good thing is that it has a watch and I'm a watch wearer so for me its replaced my watch which was kind of old and way to big for me. Like the other poster said, it made me see how much…

  • Training for my third full now although I've done this course as the half so will add it in my comparison: Asbury Park Full - 8 loop course from hell. Very flat but 8 loops is just sick and wrong. Needless to say this one isn't run anymore but it was my first so will always hold a place in my heart. NYC Marathon - 2015…
  • When I started I used telephone poles outside as my guide. First I would run from one pole to the other and then walk a to the next and so on. The next week, I stretched it to 2 poles, etc. I never used C25K. Its all about building your endurance base. Walk and then run a little and so on. Thats all you need.
  • RA and Lupus here and also a half marathon and full marathon runner who weight trains regularly. I'm managed with Plaquenil, Cimzia and MTX. I lost a ton of weight following a healthy program and find that I feel better and run better as a result. I know I do a lot more than most people with RA/Lupus but I believe a…
  • Lost all my weight and had wine every day for the most part and have maintained very well but I am trying to squeak off these last few pounds finally and just can't get the scale to move. I'm actually realizing its time to stop imbibing. Maybe when I truly am on maintenance I can enjoy a little more frequently but until…
  • As your miles go up in marathon training, it gets pretty easy to gain weight during training. A lot of endurance runners do because you're pretty hungry after some of those workouts. I made it a huge point not to do that when I ran NYC in November and let me tell you it wasn't easy (I did the gain during training thing…
  • I go insane if i have to watch the numbers. I cover them with a towel except during interval training...then you need to watch and it is all about getting to the next break. Also super awesome updated playlists help tremendously.
  • I have RA and SLE and also am a distance runner and avid lifter. I have my diseases really well managed with medication and have a very supportive Rheumy as well. For me, not being able to exercise would cause more mental issues than dealing with the daily discomforts. It has taken me a long time to build up to the level…
  • I haven't had a period now in close to 100 days and the scale is barely moving. I went as long as 111 days this time last year and then it just showed up normally for a few months. Its very frustrating and nerve wracking. My plan is just to stay the course, be honest about my food, keep working out and hopefully the…
  • I'm a distance runner so I register for races.
  • I use a different product but I like the convenience and also the quality of the nutrition I am getting in the shake as opposed to what i wasn't getting trying my old methods of dieting. Will I do the shakes forever, probably not 2 a day but will continue to have one a day because I enjoy them and for me it just fits my…
  • I have a Healthrider 95T that I got from Sports Authority about 6 years ago that I really like when I use it. I prefer to run outside of at the gym on their TMs but if I can't get to the gym (weather or whatever) it is a great option. My best advice is to test drive one before you buy....the length of the deck was a big…
  • The absolute most important thing is to insure you are running with proper shoes. It doesn't make a difference on the elliptical but if you are running in a shoe that isn't right for you, it will for sure negatively impact your running experience. I would strongly suggest going to a GOOD running store (not a big box store…
  • When I first started my fitness journey I registered for a 5K and told everyone. It made me accountable and gave me a focus to keep going.
  • I have a tattoo on my leg which I swear by and it it was mentioned in an earlier post here "trust the training". follow a solid plan and the plan will prepare you.
  • I felt compelled to answer because in 2012 i broke my foot on my last long run before taper for my 2nd marathon....talk about devastated. 3 months non weight bearing...it was awful. In early 2013 I was able to get back to running having gained a ton of weight and lost almost all my fitness. I have since run many (like 14)…
  • I am interested also.
  • I have a magic bullet and use it every day...small and compact and perfect for one shake.
  • I have a Taylor also and do use it regularly and love it.
  • Any idea how many calories/fat/protein in each?
  • For me, the desire to no longer be crazy and ëxist in a place of awful emotions was my final kick in the pants. but it took a long time to get there and no matter how much i tried before it didn't stick. and to be honest, my next relapse is still just a stone throw away. He needs to desire it for reasons that have nothing…
  • 1171 for me this year which was just shy of my 1200 mile goal so I added a little for 2015 and will shoot for 1250. Although I did hit my half marathon goal of running 8 in 2014 which was really exciting. Glad I found a group of like minded folks.
  • I just can't bring myself to get on the scale because of the whole if its down its great and if its up my world crashes down. I know its an issue and I will get there in addressing it but for now I'm going by how my clothing fits and that is working short term. but to keep the weight off once I have reached my goal, I know…
  • My husband is the cook in the family and gets very frustrated and refuses to cook multiple meals claiming the whole family meal thing...which I don't totally disagree with. so to keep the peace, I will eat generally whatever he cooks and deal by using portion control. If he is cooking a starch i don't want, I will make a…
  • my daughter is a busy student with a full time job and very little meal time availability during the day so she manages with a good quality protein bar (Quest is her preference), apples, a sandwich on a low carb wrap with chicken (cooked not deli) and veggies. Grab and go kinds of foods.
  • I agree that telling your husband or other caring folks that are used to making you feel better with food that food isn't what you want or need will be empowering for you. And maybe a detox isn't necessary but a firm commitment to yourself to eat within your macros and workout x times in the next 7 days or something like…
  • Wow. This!!!!!
  • I would like to join please.
  • I go on Yummly and filter by crock pot and have found a couple really awesome healthy recipes. Made the family a nice chicken barley stew/soup for dinner tonight as a matter of fact.
