One thing that has really helped me is only eating when I'm at the table. No more eating while I'm driving, at the computer, or watching TV. That keeps me aware of the food I eat and I enjoy it more. After making this adjustment I started to realize how many calories I was consuming out of habit without really enjoying…

I understand. I am making good progress but sometimes it feels like I'm just crawling along. I keep reminding myself that the desire for instant gratification is part of what got me into this mess in the first place.

I'm 5'7" started at 270 and am now at 235. I would say if you plan to eat at that kind of deficit be sure to talk to a doctor first. My doctor recommended 2000 calories for me and that has produced fairly consistent 2 lbs a week (I started walking daily as well). With my current activity level 2000 is maintenance at my…

When my wife was going through chemo-therapy the entirety of her dietary instructions from the doctor were "If you can keep it down, eat it." I realize that the circumstances are different but try to think of calorie dense foods that you like and include as much of those in your diet as possible. Good Luck!

San Francisco Bay coffee is pretty affordable and very good. Online you can get a box of 80 for under $30.00. I like their French Roast.

I think the most important thing is to recognize that fat, ugly, and not worthwhile are 3 totally unrelated things, and to treat them as such. You're worthwhile because you are you and there aren't any others like you. Ugly is pure opinion and has nothing to do with your worth. If you are overweight or obese then lose the…

Onion powder and smoked paprika mixed together make a nice substitute for salt at the table.

I like müssli, which I learned how to make in Switzerland. In advance, take plain uncooked Oatmeal (not instant) and add what you like. I put in some type of dried fruit (raisins, dried blueberries, dried cranberries, etc) and nuts (usually almonds and walnuts). I have also added protein powder but found that unnecessary…

I've watched people adding sugar to those sickly sweet gas station cappuccinos. They start at around 150 calories for an 8 ounce serving (and good luck finding a cup smaller than 12oz).

Don't be so quick to judge. You are assuming that she has eaten nothing else today. If I ate one right now I would say the same thing because I've already eaten about 1000 calories today. To the OP just take it in stride and realize that not everyday is going to perfect. If you're in it for the long haul you will stumble…

Please, see a doctor about it. A distended abdomen can be caused by a build up of peritoneal fluid which could be very serious.

1. Eat often - Your food diary is not open so you may already be doing this. I try to eat 5 times during the day - Breakfast, Fruit snack, Lunch, Protein snack, Dinner. If your not hungry you will be less likely to have food cravings. 2. I've found that only eating when I'm sitting at the table helps as well. After several…

Southern California Only eat when your at the table. If you want a snack, put it on a plate and sit at the table. If you don't have a break room at work try to set aside a little spot that counts as your "table". Stop eating in the car, at the computer, in front of the TV, etc.

Hello. I am also starting on the journey. I've lost about 20 pounds so far but still have a long way to go. I noticed some of you talked about depression/boredom eating. I have struggled with this for a long time and finally hit upon a solution that is working for me and wanted to pass it on. I have made a hard and fast…
