Ok maybe BMI wasn’t the best way to frame it. What I’m hearing though is that y’all generally believe there is an ideal body weight / body size / body fat percentage range that people should be in? And that being outside that range indicates less-than-optimal health? And that people should strive to be close to or within…

I didn't even read these as shots at gun control..

I took small bites and chewed for a long time when I was stuck in disordered eating. It's too obsessive for me.

It's not my place, male or female. I wouldn't go up to a stranger riding a bike without a helmet and tell him or her to wear a helmet. I wouldn't tell a stranger driving recklessly to drive more safely - and even if I did, it likely wouldn't be well-received. I guess I just can't imagine many situations in which people…

Since I've truly given myself permission to eat without restrictions, I haven't binged once. Now that I no longer restrict or expect to deprive myself, I don't feel the same sense of urgency to eat everything all at once.

Enjoying myself. Getting stronger and faster and maintaining, if not improving, my flexibility are awesome too, but they're secondary goals.

I don't like this hard and fast categorization of the apple as healthy and the cookie as unhealthy. Food is more nutritious or less nutritious and contributes to people being healthy or not. Maybe the apple offers more nutrition than the cookie.. maybe, but maybe the kid ate fruit for breakfast and has fruit with lunch and…

Is it gym policy that you can't take the barbell out of the squat rack?

I relate to this author so very much. I recently found myself googling some pretty ridiculous things in my desperation to take control of my intake and weight. I recognized the insanity of this and then googled "how to eat intuitively" and came across an article that really struck a chord with me. I started reading more of…

A counselor once called me hyper-introspective. I know all about overthinking things. I know how much it hurts to dislike yourself and have low self esteem. I've since learned that I came out of my family of origin with some seriously flawed thought patterns. My first serious adult relationship was based on those patterns.…

Cottage cheese.

These. They looked easy to me. Then I tried them.. It may be worth noting that I don't like ab work. I've never done it consistently, but I recently started incorporating one move at the end of my lifting workouts. This move has stuck. It feels effective without the discomfort of the floor.
-
I do them and really like them. I wonder if you're overextending your back at the top. Also, I think they're similar to romanian deadlifts but not so much regular deadlifts.
-
Are these at all useful for strengthening grip?
-
@Keladelphia Thanks! The first link.. those are the kind my husband has and the kind this guy let me use, but I definitely haven't gotten used to them. I know I probably just need to work on it, but it's hard for me to want to set aside time to back of the weight and work on my grip, as necessary as I know it is. I like…

Something looks off about the pull on the deadlifts. I'm thinking maybe your hips are going up too fast or maybe starting too high. I notice on a couple reps when you put it down, you drop your butt down a little extra after you put the weight down. I think this extra drop should be part of the descent if that makes sense.…

I can't imagine it either. I just tried googling but couldn't find anything.

If that's the dumbest thing you've ever done, you're in a good place! I've done things way stupider with way bigger consequences. Maybe try a week or just a few days at maintenance calories to give yourself a break. I know it's really hard, but I really think the slower you do it, the more sustainable it is. Are there ways…

Wouldn't the opposite of anorexia involve deliberately trying to gain weight because you think you're too skinny? Maybe I'm splitting hairs..

@cerise_noir YES!! Thank you! All I needed was one person. And yeah, I know the show is Canadian, but it's not like some common Canadian phrase. That's what I was getting at. "Are you staring at my belly!?"
-
Yeah, it's not a Canadian thing. I was just saying it's not an American thing either. It's just a hilarious tv show. That's all.
-
Did it not sound hilarious to you anyway!? It's just an exclamation they use when something goes well or they did something awesome. I guess maybe you gotta watch the show to appreciate it!
-
Did it have sound? It doesn't when I click it, but it did on YouTube when I first watched it. It's just from a tv show, and they're Canadian not American.
-
Oh just click it someone :) Surely someone can spare ten seconds for a laugh!
-
I always notice when people say "I know someone that..." When you're talking about a person, it should be "who," not "that."
-
I wear basketball shorts with pockets or tuck it into my waistband (on the side) if I'm wearing leggings or shorts without pockets.
-
Of course you do! Having done it before doesn't make it any less of an accomplishment this time around!

I eat the same thing all week too, at least for my food at work, and it's nothing I have to cook, which means my "meal prep" consists of portioning out the quark (a sort of yogurt) and cottage cheese. I switch up the fruits I put in the quark and the veggies I put in the cottage cheese, but the base is always the same.…

The way you talk about yourself and think about yourself (because thinking is essentially talking to yourself) is so important. Words shape reality. Like someone already said, why would you be inclined to take care of yourself if you don't value yourself. One way to think about changing this is to think about how you would…

What job do you have? Are you paid to work at home?
