I eat 200 grams of plain quark (it's like yogurt but thicker and less tangy) mixed with just a tablespoon of Nutella and berries every morning. I put cereal on it too, but if you skip that it's probably around 300 calories, and it's delicious!

I really like logging and did it successfully for a year or more eating at maintenance, but seeing a deficit really messes with my mind too. I found that out recently when I tried to drop my calorie goal under maintenance, so my solution has been to set my calorie goal at maintenance and log my exercise without logging the…

The hubby and I may or may not have taken up one of two squat racks for an hour and a half yesterday.. When the weights are racked wrong and if it's not a quick fix, like moving one plate so that they're organized right, I just put it back where I found it. I don't always wipe off my treadmill.. if I'm not sweating or if I…

Ok, so I used to feel this way too, not quite with as few calories as you eat, but I had little appetite and felt stuffed without eating hardly anything. Now that I've gotten to a place where I have a healthier understanding of weight loss and fitness, I can see that my lack of appetite was a manifestation of the way I…

But what were you saying is disgusting? That you don't eat a lot, or that 1000 calories is disgusting because it is a lot? I'm not just trying to harp on this question. I'd like to offer more of my input, but I want to understand better first.

What's disgusting? I'm genuinely curious because when I read all your posts in this thread, I felt concerned about the possibility of some disordered eating behaviors. I don't know you, so obviously I may be completely wrong. It just sounds to me like you're super restrictive, with the amount you eat, what you eat, and…

I don't think you're gonna like this answer, but it clicked for me when I started lifting. I just loved it, and I was amazed by what I could do. After I started lifting, I started eating to fuel that. I started seeing results that I loved, and it was a wrap. The gym feels like home now. I'm a person who gets really excited…

I recently started a job that has me working pretty early, so I've started eating breakfast more regularly. I ate the same thing every day last week: 200 grams of plain quark (it's like yogurt, but better!) mixed with 1 tablespoon of Nutella, some berries, and 1 serving of Special K protein cereal. It comes out around 400…

I haven't tried this yet, but I recently read that gripping the bar harder can help with your power. Not sure it would be enough to help you break your plateau, but it can't hurt to try it.

I don't do yoga but do stretch, and I often do all three in the same day. I lift first, run second, and end with stretching. Some days I just lift and stretch, and other days I just run and stretch. It just depends how I'm feeling, but I've had good results this way.

Taking my time has worked for me. I think avoiding hard-and-fast deadlines is really important. I think it's easy to start trying to lose in an unhealthy way in order to meet them, and it can be really discouraging if you don't meet them. I figure the slower the loss, the more sustainable.

Except some people don't lose weight on purpose or in a healthy way. Giving compliments about weight loss to people you don't know well or outside an arena like this (where weight loss tends to be the goal) is a bit risky if you ask me. I don't mean to be snarky or contrary. It's just that this is a perspective that's only…

Reading this makes me wonder if infatuation can't turn into love. I think there's more to infatuation than just lust. I think it also means seeing the object of your infatuation through rose -colored glasses. You only see the good. Even things that would be annoying or less-than-ideal in a long-term relationship can be…

It's simple common sense, but back when I was younger and really struggling with worrying about what other people were thinking of me, a counselor told me that I can never know what anyone is thinking. For some reason that really clicked with me even though I already knew it. So whatever terrible thing you think someone is…

Can I add you just for the awesome thread title!?

This place is awesome for that! I don't think anyone gets as excited about this stuff as other people who are doing it too. I think you've come to the right place.

To legitimately lose ten pounds in a week, you'd have to be at a deficit of 5000 calories a day. You'd have to burn off 5000 calories plus whatever you eat. To give a little perspective, when I run a mile I burn about a hundred calories, so I'd have to run like 50 miles. Every day. That's crazy talk.

@BessSometimesJess Why not create a group like this except that people only offer each other positive feedback? People might benefit from hearing about the good things about what they're doing. I'm not talking about blowing smoke, but I think this stuff can get overwhelming and leave people feeling like they're not doing…

How about leaving your calories at maintenance, and creating a deficit through exercise? I haven't been successful with trying to eat less either, so while eating at maintenance I've started to log my exercise without logging the calorie burn so that I don't eat them back. It's working for me so far, but it's really a…

Get a food scale, and weigh everything! It's the best way to be accurate about your intake.

I don't know why six grapes makes me so sad when I'll literally take a gram of yogurt out of my bowl to make it the weight I planned to eat.
-
Maybe once every 5-7 days. I just recently started doing this. I just rinse it in between washes.

I lost fat and gained muscle at the same time, more fat lost than muscle gained, so I was definitely in a deficit. It was a very small deficit though, probably less than 200 calories, and that was only because my maintenance calories were underestimated, not because I was intentionally eating at a deficit.

The hubby and I work out together. I'm really lucky that way.. he wants to support me but has also really gotten into that for himself too. Working out is a consistent thing in our lives now. Food-wise, we do our own things. I weigh and log everything. He eats what he wants. We talk about him eating more consciously…

I've heard some people say they attach their Fitbit to their bra strap or something like that when they're not allowed to wear it at work. Not sure if that would work for you.

Do you try to restrict or otherwise make up for it after you binge? That never helps.

I finally practiced a bit. A couple times with the bar and then with some weights. It wasn't nearly as loud as I thought it'd be. It's not exactly pleasant on the knees though..

You have to search for strength training under cardio exercises.
