Congrats for beginning! I take each day as it comes, and I've been at it since April, having lost just about 25 lbs. I'm older and it takes a lot longer than even 5 yrs ago. So now I weigh every few weeks. Started at 179 much to my dismay. Hope to see the 140's in Sept.

One of the reasons I consider myself a 'clean eater' is that when I do eat whole foods, I get the fiber and proper protein and fats to feel full. I had trouble eating 1000 calories the other day, and got a warning from the system. But I was satisfied all day long with the 3 meals and snacks, and I never felt truly full…

I would love to go to school to learn how to cook. I grew up in the 50's on canned foods, and then TV dinners, and I fumble in the kitchen and have called it "foreign territory"

Thank you for these replies. I'm just not willing to stop adding a sweetener to my coffee, and I do not like the flavor of some of the 'natural' sweeteners without calories, so I opted for maple syrup which blends fast, tastes good, and has just a few nutrients. I was using raw sugar, takes forever to melt, and I guess is…

I love all the comments, I guess I was just concerned that I was too high in sugar according to fitnesspal :) I love them, and consider them healthy to eat, too. I do have lots of wild blackberries in the freezer (I live on a 345 acre farm and in southern Oregon they are *everywhere* I'll substitute those a few mornings.

I do not believe clean eating means perfection. I had 2 brownies yesterday, 1 glass of champagne, and did not exceed my calories or fats or sugars, and I still consider myself someone who embraces clean eating. I'm also using Himalayan salt, which is full of minerals. After eating out of control for so many months, I am…

It seems as though all the grocery stores here in southern Oregon are now offering a choice of organic fruits and veggies. I even wash organic oranges off before eating. I have the option of buying organic bags of apples from Costco, but so far they have not been as flavorful as the ones I hand pick at other stores.

I have a question. This morning I decided to use 2 teas of maple syrup in my coffee, but when I enter it, no sugar amount appears. How is that possible?

I'm trying to keep my protein levels high after out of control eating for 11 months. quinoa is a great choice. Sometimes I mix it with brown rice. Yum.

Today I started the day with coffee and heavy cream, a banana an hour later. I had an English cucumber with little bits of cheese on the sliced pieces, and then had a cooked beet. Dinner was 1 cup brown rice, 3 oz chicken breast, and 2 cups cooked beets, and a slice of 5 seed bread from a local organic bakery. Had a Fuji…

I've been posting away and forgot to introduce myself. I'm on the journey to lose the weight I have gained since moving to Southern Oregon. I'm a caretaker on a 345 acre farm, and it is remote, and I began eating emotionally. It has taken prayer for me to get back to clean eating. 11 months of out of control eating, and I…

When I have a question about sweetness or something being ripe, and the produce guy is within earshot, I go ask for assistance. I have learned how to pick the ripest apples this way.

And now that I read the study, I guess I better get some Granny Smith. I don't really care for them, kind of tart, but sometimes you just have to do what's good for you

I LOVE apples. I try to eat at least 2 a day. I also drink a teas of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water. Good for the gut, and I feel kind of bloated if I drink water plain. Don't know why.

Without a plan clean eating could be difficult. I made a grocery list of all the foods I enjoy, and since we have an organic grocery store here in southern Oregon, I filled the cart with veggies, fruits, organic everything else, brown rice, quinoa, 5 seed bread. In a 'regular' grocery store I would only buy from the outer…

So far I consider clean eating totally organic, meat, eggs, fruit and veggies, and heavy cream. Nothing with preservatives, everything fresh not frozen (well, except for the grass fed beef) No soy. Organic olive oil. One exception, I don't buy organic coffee.

I am continuing to use heavy cream, 1 1/2 T in the morning. I don't eat much, maybe a banana mid morning, then a regular lunch. Lots of great nutrition and not overdoing it with other fats during the day.
