  • Thank you @canadjineh and @weatherking2019 What's striking me most is how individual this process is. I'm very fortunate that I don't have food sensitivities or health conditions so I think I have room to experiment with my macros and find what works. I do find eating a good amount of fat, protien and low carb helps me…
  • @Keliz1173 & @gallicinvasion I will definitely be researching CBT. Did you see a therapist or practice techniques on your own?[/quote] @gitfit28 I was introduced to CBT by a clinical social worker as part of her therapeutic approach. There are likely good books/workbooks out there as well. I am just remembering Geneen Roth…
  • Thanks all for sharing your experiences and ideas. I'll check in @Emmapatterson1729 and let you know how it goes!
  • Thank you @tcunbeliever and @mmultanen for sharing your expereince with keto and low carb. @snha I was aiming for 25g of carbs or under after subtracting fibre grams while eating keto. Also more fat than protien. I think my carbs are still quite low and I'm experimenting with a bit lower fat and slightly higher protien. I…
  • To put my comments in context - I have a lifelong problematic relationship with food including compulsive and emotional eating. I've done a combination of things. First was some therapy which I still continue. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is very helpful for changing thought patterns and the feelings and behaviors…
  • Wow - congratulations!! Very inspiring. You must feel awesome. :)
  • Way to go!
  • I've been following a keto diet since February and I count carbs, calories and watch my macros as well. It's a lot to keep track of but it's been helpful. I will eat if I am truly hungry even if it means going a bit over my calorie range. Sounds dramatic but I feel like I'm in recovery from a lifetime of overeating and…
  • When I've had trouble with digestive stuff I've used ground flax mixed into the fat bombs I make. I have also made chia seed pudding with unsweetened coconut or cashew milk and cocoa power and that is also a way to help things keep moving through your system. Usually I try to get most fiber from veggies.
  • Some low carb snacks ideas - herbed whipped cream cheese with some natural/nitrate free deli ham or turkey. I make roll ups with them. Also cut up veggies and guacamole. Sometimes I just eat half an avocado with some kind of tex-mex seasoning on top - it's quick, filling, good fats and fibre. Hard boiled eggs are quick,…
  • I find I slip into night time eating out of habit and that feeling of "me time". I now brush my teeth when I get my son to bed and still watch some TV to relax but from my lap top in my bedroom. I'm more likely to snack in my living room but not my bedroom. It's a hard habit to break but changing up my routine and location…
  • Hello - I would like to join this group too. New back to using MFP. I'm 46 and would like to lose 70 more pounds. I've dieted on an off my entire life so focusing now on a positive, loving approach to my health and weight loss. I'm tired of hating my body and it's done me no good anyway. Kelly
