Have you tried edamame? I buy it shelled in the frozen food section. High in protein so might help with the hunger.

I also pre log the night before. It may change during the day but it helps me budget my calories throughout the day. It's all about finding what works for you. Best wishes 🙂

Right now I do 3 strength type classes and 3 spin classes a week. I get the motivation and structure of a group with little actual interaction due to social distancing at the gym. It's perfect for me 😊. On my rest days I love a walk in the woods.

In the beginning I used to go to the gym at off peak times and it felt less intimidating. I also started with activities that felt more familiar and slolwy challenged myself to try new things. I figure I can only be "the newbie" for a short time and that the only way to get more comfortable is to keep going. I am still…

I've been doing spin classes since November and I absolutely love it. The first few classes hurt by butt more than anything. which goes away after a few classes. I agree with the advice to pace yourself and just keep peddling. I find the music really awesome and motivating. Good for you for trying something new!

When I switched from eye balling and using measuring cups to weighing out my food serving on a scale I noticed my weight loss picked up again. I read labels and use the scanner feature on my phone but I also weigh even pre-packaged foods because often there is a discrepency between the serving listed on the package and the…

There is "Couch to 5k" which give you plans to do just that working up to running. Lots of info on line and apps you can download. Good luck!

Just something to think about - if the walking 30 min daily is manageable for you could you focus on that for now? Building consistency and increasing your fitness through more challenging and longer walks? I started walking regularly for 30 min a year ago and it turned into 45 min, then 60 min walks and now a goal of…

Hello - welcome to MFP! I recommitted to a healthier lifestyle in February 2019 and I'm still here :-). I too am motivated but have a lot of stressors in my life. Some things that have worked for me: Start small with one or two changes and then build on that. Avoiding all or nothing thinking and being 'perfect' - this has…

Curious to see if anyone has found one. A friend of mine makes her own granola in the oven with oats and other ingredients on cookie sheets - not sure if that is helpful to you?

In reading your post I hear your stress and anguish. I'm really sorry you are feeling this way. It may not seem like it now but things can change and get better. I agree with the other responses and encourage you to reach out to your school's student health centre. Most colleges and universities have services to assist…

@apullum I can totally relate to that. I do a lot of my mental processing during my walks or runs. :) This is a great topic............ I've only been regularly exercising for the past 6 months but I have seen immense benefits from regular activity. My mental health and mood is generally better, no more sore lower back,…

Also the main cook for my family. I don't think this is revolutionary but I'm on a baking sheet kick. I cover the baking sheets with parchment and have one with whatever meat or fish I'm cooking and the other with whatever veggies I have on hand. Takes very little oil and you can change up the seasonings for variety. I do…

I love roasted beets as well, as a side or sliced in a salad with feta and some pumpkin seeds - yum! The regular kind, yellow or the candycane striped variety. All so good. As for pickeled - love those too. I buy the jars of Habitant brand (Canada) at Costco and find they are delicious and inexpensive.

Beets - roasted or pickled.... just really diggin' beets these days

I use a soda stream and carbonate 2 bottles of water and sip during the day and usually have one more at night. No flavour, just like the bubbles. I know everyone is different but my personal experience is I feel better when I'm well hydrated and my skin is clearer. :)

Hi @reenieHJ I wasn't sure I would respond to this thread but I respect you sharing your throughts so I'll put myself out there..... I too had a problematic relationship with food that began in childhood and was how I coped with a volatile home/family environment. I started binging before age 7 and understood it as bad and…

Thanks for both of these suggestions. I'll look them up and give them a try. Hoping for one that is simple and doesn't crash a lot, lose fatal etc. Thanks again

Thanks for sharing your experience @brenn24179. It seems like it's about finding the carb amount that works for your body. I've gone from under 25 g of net carbs to 50 to 70 g of net carbs daily and I continue to lose weight and manage cravings and hunger. And I don't feel like I'm restricting or missing out which is great…

In the spirit of @missysippy930 - can you find some other outdoor activities that work? I live in Newfoundland Canada and we also have our share of miserable winter weather. I do enjoy walking in the cold if I'm dressed for it - but not when the roads are icy or it's freezing rain. Other winter fitness activities -…

What lower carb plan do you follow? Keto up until 2 weeks ago, now focusing on Low Carb -How long have you followed a lower carb way of eating? Keto Feb 2019 to end of August 2019, LC 2 weeks ago -Do you plan on continuing with lower carb after your weight loss phase is complete and you transition into maintenance? Or, if…

Thank you @GaleHawkins - I will check out those links. I definitley have more learning to do. I feel very fortunate at 46 to not have any major medical issues considering my weight and lifetime of disordered eating. I have a 10 year old son so lots of motivation to continue to improve my overall physical and mental health.…

Also want to point out that fat people are not under any obligation to be trying to lose weight. It's no one's concern/business if she is just enjoying her breakfast or has "given up".

Way to go - very inspiring!!!

Thank you GaleHawkins for this feedback. I have seen many of your comments on other threads so I know you have years of expereince with keto and low carb WOE. I will look into mircobiome information - I'm curious about the relationship between gut health and mental health as well and physical. I don't have issues with…

Nice to see you here @LyndaBSS - you are always so welcoming to new peeps, which is awesome. :) And research is excellent advice when it comes to keto and low carb. Not sure how many take your suggestion either.

If it's any help I will say it got easier after a few months of reading labels and finding recipes. Still planning my meals etc. but it became more habit. I hope the changes you're making help you with your health goals and overall wellness. Best of luck with it. If you don't have to completely cut alcohol vodka and soda…

yes! it's nice to "see" you on these boards. :) I appreciate your respectful, thought provoking posts! I appreciate all the discussion in this thread - I am hesitant to mention keto in other groups I'm in or in real life as people have so many conflicting and strong opinions about it. I think it's helpful to have space for…

Hi @rainedays86 - I have utilized therapy to work on my emotional eating and it's been very helpful to understand myself better. You might find cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing (MI) helpful strategies. CBT focuses on changing our thoughts, feelings and behaviors and seeing how all 3 of those…

@Emmapatterson1729 this is such good advice. Thanks for sharing your insights! There are 2 main narratives I hear about keto - either it's a fad, not sustainable and unhealthy (the negative) or it's an easy weight loss miracle causing the pounds to "melt away" (the hype). I have been following a Keto WOE since last…
