I have a friend's wedding in a month and have nothing suitable to wear, so I've just ordered a wrap dress. Hoping it'll be forgiving enough to continue to wear after I hit goal (17 lbs from now).

Haven't seen my mom in a couple of months, and we met for lunch today. She's wouldn't usually comment on anyone's appearance, good or bad. In the middle of a completely unrelated conversation, she said, "Your shape has really changed since we've been away. Your jawline, neck, and shoulders are all angles. And your arms are…

A fast* 3m on the treadmill. The plan said it was supposed to be an easy* 3, but I didn't realize that until I got home. *Everything is relative. Then strength. Arms and core.

I used to make curry from scratch often but discovered that my family is just as happy with the jarred sauces. And the calories/macros are OK for my purposes. Actually lower-cal than my usual homemade recipe. So now I do that once a week or so, and save the from-scratch curries for when I have more time. My regular market…

Track workout today. 5 x 400m with 400m walk in between. 1 mile warm-up and cool-down.

I usually have three small, equally sized meals at approximately 8am, 12pm, and 3pm, which add up to 600-800 cals. That leaves about 1000 for dinner. If there's anything left, I have a snack at 10-ish.

Just put together some cute workout outfits to spend the morning in, then shower and put on regular clothes after the workout. I only wear make-up for special occasions, which simplifies things.

Rowed 30 easy minutes, followed by strength work. Could only do one rep of assisted pull-ups before my elbow started hurting again. It's worrisome. Will back off and find an alternate exercise.

I find the C2 estimate to be fairly accurate. My easy rows (like today) come in at just about 10 cal/min for 30 min, averaging 2:30/500m, 25 spm, drag factor 108 (which on my erg is damper 6-ish). I don't know what it was for my PB 2k (2:03/500m).

I'm trying to reach a good performance weight for the sports I like to participate in. I'm 5'10", 46 y.o., female, and medium/large framed. SW: 248 CW: 185 GW: 165-170 So 15-20 to go.

Wait, are we talking about wiping down the equipment before, or after? We all seem to be making different assumptions. It's policy in most places to wipe it down after use. Wiping down before is less common and not required. Which one are you asking about?

@Djproulx -- What a great day! Happy Manniversary! You're doing an excellent job of luring me back to triathlons. I'm already committed to 5K and rowing events through the winter, but I'm leaning toward tri training in the spring. My report: Ran 3m this morning. 10K training starts Friday.

Not too weird, but unusually diligent. I would probably just grab a bunch of the paper towels, spray them down, and bring them with me from station to station. You might also mention to the staff that people might be more apt to use the supplies if they were more conveniently placed. And thank you for thinking about this.…

I'm down 63 lbs, with 17 to go. I started at 44G and currently wear a 36DD. I have two daily bras, one highly-engineered running bra, and four inexpensive compression sports bras. The cheap ones have lasted through my entire weight loss, since they're very stretchy and forgiving. I think I might be done shrinking out of…

Why not join a team? I've been in running clubs, have taken lessons at rowing clubs, and will likely join a triathlon team next year. I have similar issues. Just going to the gym doesn't do it for me. I need a goal. Preferably something competitive or quantifiable. So I'm always signed up for and training for an athletic…

This is not weird. It is brilliant.

Spaghetti with sauce, Italian sausage, and sautéed veggies (onions, mushrooms, red peppers, zucchini).

Ran 3m. Opted out of strength training today so my arms and core can recover enough to withstand a long weekend of drumming.

The other trick is that, if you're going to be the only one eating that food and you're going to eat all of it eventually, you can eyeball 1/3, and trust that it'll even out after all three portions are consumed. It doesn't work so well at my house though, where all leftovers are rapidly devoured by the teens. :)

I think what this poster was saying was to plug your GOAL weight in and then choose maintenance. Then, if you want to track your weight progress in the app, switch back to your current weight and edit your calories to match that first number. It'll give you slightly fewer calories than you need right now, so you'll lose.…

I don't worry much about it. I use such a tiny amount compared to packaged and restaurant food that it seems like an unnecessary level of granularity. That said, when I'm watching sodium, I don't add salt. I also picked up a small container of salt substitute at the grocery store. Side-steps the issue entirely. :)

Daily exercise helps my sciatica in a significant way. It only flares up these days when I'm not stretching properly, or when I haven't been active for a couple of days in a row. The weight loss, the stretching, and the stronger core all contribute. Focus on building habits, not on raising motivation. My first goal was to…

For me to stay satisfied, I need protein and/or fat with some fiber-rich carbs. - Full-fat plain yogurt w/ berries & nuts - Overnight oats w/ berries & nuts - Peanut butter & sliced banana sandwich on dense whole-wheat bread - An apple, a cheese stick or nuts, Triscuits And coffee. Always coffee.

Three suggestions here really struck me as brilliant: 1) Online shopping. You'd probably save enough in impulse purchases to cover the fee. I don't do this because I like to select my own produce, but it occurs to me that I could go to only the produce department, and have everything else delivered. 2) If you know you're…

Rowed 30 minutes (6300m). Going to band rehearsal later, so that means 5 hours of drive time, round trip. Not awesome. But at least I'll get in a good upper body and core workout while playing!

Just keep it simple. Don't get all elaborate on weeknights. Or prepping on weekends is good. I rarely do. This is what the 5 of us are having this week. Only one thing takes more than 45 minutes, start to finish (including bake time, so we can do other things while waiting). -Whole grain spaghetti w/Italian sausage and…

Assuming it's appropriate to offer financial advice in this scenario (which it isn't), I guess I can I understand the "pay for college" suggestion, but a vacation? In what way is that a better use of funds? A couple of weeks of fun vs. years of improved self-confidence and the alleviation of physical discomfort or pain?…

On days we have social eating going on, I eat light the rest of the day and exercise as usual. If I keep it reasonable that evening, that plan usually gets me where I want to be. I guess I should be grateful my family is made up entirely of introverts. We don't have social events very often. A week like that would end up…

I've had a month here and there where frequently traveling made weight loss more challenging than usual. So I pulled back to maintenance for those months, and practiced what I hope will be life-time habits. My only two changes were raising allowed calories, but still logging, and being less rigid about my workout plan.…
