  • I eat the same stuff, losing or maintaining. These are three foods that are so important that I'll make a special trip to the store if we run out. Eggs Apples Yogurt (whole milk)
  • This is very common. I've felt the same way. As I lose, my perception of what's possible changes. Initially I just wanted to hit 200. Then I thought 185 would be ok. Now I'm thinking maybe 170. It doesn't seem so impossible anymore. I find it's most helpful to set goals in this format: "I will [do something specific] until…
  • This is going to haunt me until I try it.
  • @caramelgyrlk -- Holy smokes! You are fabulous! You're just radiating confidence.
  • About 200 cals of carbs and protein or fat if I have a particularly tough cardio workout planned. Otherwise, I just go. If you're so tired that you feel you need a boost, maybe that's evidence of a need to reevaluate your eating plan. If you mean you get tired while you're working out, maybe your fitness just isn't there…
  • It's all good, so do whichever one you enjoy most. Indoor rowing is my fav, but I cross-train on the treadmill and bike. I find that similar perceived efforts on the rowing machine and treadmill earn me similar calories, while the bike gives slightly less.
  • Accepting the complement and then changing the topic seems to be a wise and effective approach. If people won't be put off, you can take them aside and explain briefly why you'd rather not discuss it, and if you like, offer to set up a specific time later to chat. For different reasons, I've pondered this question as well.…
  • I'm so in love with this. Easy to understand, and 100% correct.
  • The other thing is that these beauty standards are so arbitrary. When I was 20, I was supposed look waif-like. Then it was broad shoulders/narrow hips. Now I'm supposed to have a flat stomach and a round butt? How about just getting fit and letting your body take its own optimal shape, instead of trying to look like…
  • She's gained some body fat and her breasts are also larger. Whatever the lifting did for her, there are other things going on as well.
  • Another thought: Exercise calories on MFP are often inaccurate and very high. What exercise do you do, in what intensity/duration, and how do you determine the calorie burn? I know you're not eating some as a buffer, but if the total is far enough off, it could stall you.

  • You're not very heavy, so weight loss is going to be slow. So "success" should look like .5 lbs/wk, or less. As long as it's moving over the course of the month, you're good. The sodium/carb content of the school meals or the lead-up to your cycle may make you retain water. It may be disguising any weight loss you'd…

  • How long have you been involuntarily maintaining, and how long were you losing before that? What is your height and current weight? Male or female? If female, where are you in your monthly cycle?

  • When I exercise, I eat back many of the calories earned. On the day of exercise, I post about 2/3 of the calories. Then I go to Sunday, which is the day I plan to eat more, and post the remaining 1/3 of the calories. This works for me because I like the structure. Another option is to just eat 100 calories under goal each…
  • Great advice here, so I'll just say this: 1) You're not alone. Lots of us have experienced this. It hurts, and you'll always remember it. But it will fade with time. 2) We can lose the weight, but they'll always be stupid jerks. :)
  • I started counting a streak. Every time I missed one, it reset. After a while of getting to 5 or 6 days, I got tired of resetting. And now the number is so high that I CAN'T miss! It also had to be a workout I enjoyed and that I wanted to get better at. It had its own reward built in. I do it 3 days a week, cross-train 3…
  • Another vote for proper sizing. I have a Panache but it still moves too much for my comfort. Low impact only. Enell is my best friend. Life changing. But even it chafes if it's not the right size.
  • Lol! I guess she's making the rounds. That up-over-the-knees thing drives me crazy.
  • I guess it would depend how many calories we were talking about, and whether I'd already worked out that day. I wouldn't go crazy trying to outrun the error, but it might encourage me to do a reasonable workout to take the edge off it.
  • (I don't yet lift so this might be a really stupid idea.) Could you buy a light set of bumper plates and bring them with you? Is that weird/awkward?
  • Ha! Yes! There's this tiny woman in my gym who comes over in her matchy-matchy pink velour track suit and long nails, rows slowly with the worst possible form for 5 minutes, and gives me looks the whole time like I'm the weirdo.

  • This is sweet, and made me LOL! It's nice to know there are these sorts of sisters out there. Even if they do shove their hands down your pants. :D
  • I can relate. Sibling stuff is difficult. I have mixed feelings about the next time I see my sister, which will be after I hit goal. She's always been a bit cruel about my weight. She's the "pretty/thin" one; I'm the "smart" one. I want her to know that I've lost the weight, but don't want to talk about it. We don't get on…
  • For my own cooking, I consider it homemade if I've used "ingredients," the definition of which based on what was normalized in my upbringing. It might include premade pasta and sauce, but not a can or box containing both. I consider my pasta sauce homemade even though it starts with canned crushed tomatoes. Homemade baked…
  • SW 248 CW 205!!!! (I feel like I need to add more exclamation points as I get closer. The anticipation is brutal.)
  • I really should do some experimenting. I hate to give it up just because I'm too chicken to try again.
  • The band size is the actual measurement in inches, but the cup size is how many inches bigger your breasts are than your rib cage. So as you lose weight, the comparison between the two measurements may change, or it may not. Like, if your band size goes down a lot, but your boobs don't shrink much, your cup size will go…
  • I agree with this. Mine have all done their own laundry since their arms were long enough to reach the back of the machine. Their laundry baskets were too heavy for them to lift, so they dragged 'em. :)
  • I'm in a pipe band. The struggle is real. I have to get my buckles moved so the whole thing doesn't end up around my ankles.
